View 1 Replies View RelatedI decided to install Windows 7 on to my kids Dell Dimension 5100 which had been xp base, as they tend to pick up a lot of adware-malware in the kiddie sites they go to. Window 7 has better security features that I want to help deal with these problems.Unfortunately, once I reformated the drive and install Window 7 there is no longer any sound from the computer. As I search the Dell website, it turns out they didn't have device drivers listed for Window 7 for the 5100 devices. At this point, I don't know what to do; do I have to revert back to xp which means I picked up window 7 for nothing...verything else seem to be working okay, so do I have to pick up a new sound card?...or would the device company provide a win 7 driver in time?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince my kitty was kind enough to bite thru the power supply cable on my HP printer, I'm going to hook up my spare printer, a Kodak 5100, until I can get a new cable. The Kodak website doesn't list this model as being compatible with Windows 7 & I'd rather not waste time trying to install it if it won't even work. PS... no kitties were harmed snacking on my cable.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow i can reinstall my main audio drivers so they stay installed and so i don't have to uninstall and reinstall them at every startup. it still says it's in use if i try to test it before reinstalling. to reinstall it i've been going to playback devices, right click properties, click properties on the new window, change settings on the next, last window click the driver tab and uninstall. then i go to device manager and scan for changes. it's really a pita DISREGARD THIS: ok so i've been trying to port audio from firefox to reaper + asio4all and found that i can do it with VAC. i first tried another program called virtual audio streaming but that didn't work. when i got VAC i uninstalled VAS first. since i've had VAC installed i can't listen to anything over my monitor's speakers (have computer hooked to monitor with hdmi). if i have "Digital Audio (hdmi)" set as the default audio device, the audio won't even start. for example if a start a movie in vlc and then realize there's no sound i can't just switch the default device to something else (usually can do this) i have to stop the video select a different device and start the video again. flash stuff online just won't play until i change the device. if i try to go to the properties of "Digital Audio (hdmi)" > advanced > and hit test it tells me the device is being used by another program. this was making me think that maybe it was because VAC was using that device to port the audio from windows or something. didn't really make complete sense but i uninstalled VAC, restarted my pc and it still does the same thing. i tried uninstalling the drivers (windows default drivers, the downloadable drivers IDT high def audio cause problems with other programs so i don't use them and would prefer not to) and restarting so they would reinstall but that did nothing.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi recently put Windows 7 Build 7000 on my Acer 5100 laptop, and i love it. the only problem i am having out of it is i can't get any of my USB's to work on it. i have tried nearly everything that i can think of to try to get them to work, and have succeeded twice, only to be let down later. the first time i got them working, they worked great for about three days. the second time, though, only three hours. If anyone can help me out with this problem i would greatly appreciate it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows XP installation has a Soundmax audio driver. Having now the ability to dual boot my computer to Windows 7 I have since learned that there is little likelihood of Soundmax producing a driver compatible with Windows 7. Windows 7 Device Manager indicates under Sound Controller. what it refers to as a High Definition Audio Device and that the drivers installed are working properly but still no sound. Attempts to update these drivers report that the drivers in question are up to date. There is no indication by yellow exclamation marks that anything isn't as it should be in Device Manager.
Any suggestions for restoring sound would be appreciated
I recently installed windows 7 on my computer and everything worked well accept my sound didn't work.
I put in my Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio driver CD and tried to install them but I ended up with a BLUE SCREEN! about 70% into the installation
I reaserched that many people have almost the same problem with SB X-Fi xtreme audio drivers and windows 7. Can any one give me any suggestions of what could be the problem.
