About 10 months ago I ordered an HP pavilion on amazon. Without really looking up the specs I would need daily. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I really enjoy playing S4 league and Forsaken World. Well within 4 months I noticed something was wrong with the cooling fan so I kept it for a while as is. Then I sent it to HP for the warranty thing the other day. Another reason I why I decided to send it back for repairs was. The fps went from 62.5 (max fps for that game) and started spiking down to 40ish on s4 league. For the last 10 months it would get hot and loud and such but never affected my fps for anything. So while it's getting fixed I decided to look up ways to improve it. And it seems overclocking is pretty effective. They say it's not safe to overclock a laptop because it'll heat up quicker. What I was wondering was when you over clock it, and let's say the CPU is 2.4GHz and would go up to 3ghz with overclocking. Is it running at 3GHz all the time even during idol stats or simple tasks? Like basically whenever it needs more than 2.4 GHz it'll start using more? And if not then if let's say I take it to class to take notes with or surf the web. It won't heat up because it wouldn't be using 3GHz right? And let's say if I did need 3Ghz, if I use a cooling pad like the Cooler Master NotePal X2 Laptop Cooling Pad with 140mm Blue LED Fan (R9-NBC-4WAK-GP). Would it somehow help cool it down?
I'd like to know if my netbook would be overclock able or not. And if possible how exactly to achieve such an epic achievement? @_@. I'm not sure how exactly to present the specs so I'll provide the link of the laptop if that will help. If it isn't realistic at all I'll understand. I actually plan to invest on an assembled computer in a year or so. That I'll put time to study and get the best parts I can. But between now and then I only have this netbook, so I'd like to get out as much as I can off it within the year.
We're looking to get one of the following boards:ASRock X79 Extreme 6/GB ASRock X79 Extreme9 ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Professional The first 2 state that their memory standard can go up to an overclocked 2400MHz, the last one an overclocked 2600MHz.Does that mean that if you put 2400MHz memory in, the board can overclock up to that? Or should you buy the highest regular standard supported (1600 in this case) and overclock up to 2400?
has anyone found a compatible tool for 5770 overclocking beyond ccc limits which is
gpu clock-960/mem clock-1445

well i was wondering if it was possible to overclock a laptop. one of the flaws of the laptop is its processor speed. and i dont know if its possible and dont get mad if im wrong i would like to overclock this laptop.
also i was checking to see if Cod 5 worked since cod 4 MW worked on my laptop. and something funny came up in the CPU speed part.
i just bought a new gpu (Nvidia Gefore Gt 440) but it reccomends more than 400 watts, i only have 240 watts. Due to this, games lag on my new gpu. Can i overclock my power supply so i dont have to buy a new one?
how to move my favorites files to the new user accounts on my new ssd drive? I copied the favorite file I wanted to transfer then went to users and the user name I want to paste it to won't show up. My name is set up as an accountadmin, so I got on my name and clicked on computer, found users and seen my name but not my husbands, which is the favorites I had copied and wanted to move. I even got on on his name but when I got to favorites and right clicked there was nothing to paste.Windows 7 on new ssd, Windows Vista on old harddrive now set up as slave.
I think this BSOD happened by auto CPU overclock, because otherwise I haven't done any overclocking by my self. I posted here images and even video. How can I maintain default clock and heat temperature < 50C. My CPU temperature increases usually from 35+ to 55+. And no overclock was done. CPU is AMD FX-4100 - 3.6 Ghz; Or maybe its thermal paste. Voltage is messed up, what needs to be corrected. In Bios ASUS M5A97 AM3+ Motherboard with UEFI BIOS OC Demo made easy Part1 (for my M5A97)
But that expense starts to limit me with regards to motherboard. I essentially want the best possible stuff I can get but I would never dare overclock my stuff.I've looked at the ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z as supposedly being the best motherboard out there... for overclockers. It being so highly rated all around draws me to it, but also hear very great things about various other ASUS types, like ASUS p8Z68 which are basically just as good as the Maximus IV Gene-Z, but without overclocking or some additional features I won't use.
So being that I basically want a computer twice as fast as my ass, what would be a good personalized recommendation for me with regards to motherboards?
im running a 2.5ghz intel quad core q9300 with a gigabyte g41m-combo mobo, Is there anything i can do to over clock it. Not after loads of gain as i want to keep it as stable as poss but some gain will be great if i can.
I am having some issues with Windows and resuming from sleep. I have an overclock of 4.2 GHz and everything works great, but after I resume windows from sleep, the clock drops to normal Turbo Boost Ratios ranging from 3.4 to 3.8. Naturally after a restart the clock goes back to 4.2 as if nothing ever happened.
Note: I have tried Disabling various power functions in the BIOS such as EIST, C1E, etc.
win 7 x64, gigabyte motherboard GA-MA74GMT-S2, AMD PHENOM XII 550 - AMD PHENOM XII B50, DDR3 6 GB RAM, stock cooling, ASUS ati hd5450
I over clocked my cpu from dual core to quad core but even after complete shut down by the window, cpu fan is working, cabinet LED is still on, motherboard LED is on as there is a current.
Which is totaly unusual as everything switches off automaticaly after complete shutdown in normal cpu condition.
Im new at overclocking, i wanna know how to overclock so that i don't screw up my computer D:
i feel as if this computer can go farther then its limit right now, so that's why im asking. I just bought this computer 1 year ago ( 2011 )
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
Trying to get a healthy moderate overclock on a system for a client before I push it out to them in a couple hours, partially to make em happy with an added "plus it's faster than stock!" surprise, and partially for fun. This CPU's been around for about a million years for overclockers now though?
My overclock setting have recently become unstable causing applications to freeze. I have captured pictures of my bios setting and in hope of getting some help regarding readjusting them. [code]
