I am using Vista buisness 64 bit and try to install miktex. At all there is no problem in the installation process, however, by updating or installing packages by the package manager I get Error: Permission denied: :UsersMichaelAppDataLocalMiKTeX2.7miktexconfig5c9c2effd97adbeacc8bf220bf73149c.fndb I have no clue, how to correct this problem, for I am running as System administrator so I should have access.
That is the message I get from the icon in my Vista tray. When I try to manually check for Windows Updates I get the message that I need to "first install an update for Windows Update". When I try to install that update for Windows Update, I get error code 80070643. There is a lot written about Windows Update error 80070643 having specifically to do with restarting the Office Source Engine for Microsoft Office 2003. HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! I am quite fearful at this point that I am vulnerable to all sorts of attacks considering that I haven't updated Vista for about 6 months now. This is not good.
When I begin installng physx every thing goes ok, but when it is about to finish. Translating things that is not in english: Error 1935. Error when installing assembly. OR "Error when trying to install assembly" Last LINE: "Contact help and suport for more information"
I received an error: Error details: Code 57A. I tried multiple times to install, all with the same error. I did try downloading the update to my desktop, and install with the option "run as administrator...no luck. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.
64-bit Vista Home Premium. Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB970012) is repeatedly installing here. No sooner do I respond to the prompt to install it that a few minutes later it appears again as a new important update. Funny thing is, I don't even HAVE Office 2007. I do however have Office Professional 2003. How do I dispense with this repeated update?
When attempting to install Office XP from original disc (previously used on an older computer) on new Vista computer, "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable" was encountered.
When I turned Vista on today it said there was an update. So here I am installing this update that seems like an hour, only to find it did not install and it reverting back the changes. Why didn't this install? Is there a program conflict somewhere? I never had a problem like this with XP. I have my firewall off (Comodo) and really don't have much programs installed since it's just my laptop.
have tried installing vista sp1 through windows update. am running vista ultimate x64. installation of sp1 always stalls after a while and event viewer gives the following error: windows servicing failed to complete the process of changing update 936330-59_en-us_gdr from package kb936330(service pack) into staged(staged) state. have tried installing sp1 from the standalone package in normal and safe mode but it stalls jut the same.
I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit, I started getting this message yesterday and it says " Installing update 1 of 4 " and I havn't seen anything happening at all, what do I do or what is going on?
Anyone have any luck running this game under Vista SP1 (refresh)? Game is updated, I have tried the bcdedit variable but that didn't help.SP1 prevents me from installing the KB940105 update so I can't try that. Yes I know SP1 is beta and I probably will need to uninstall it to get the game to work, I am just curious if anyone else is playing it under SP1 without issues....
I have a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have tried 4 times to update to the Vista SP 1. All 4 times the install has failed with an error code of 80041315.
recently got vista 32bit so now installing my old games on this comp though when i got to installing bladerunner an error message comes up saying c:windowssystem32config.nt is missing.
Heres the story...I recently purchased a new PC running Vista Home Premium and when I got it home, I wanted to test its graphics, so I downloaded the free PC game, America's Army. When I tried to install, I received an error about ISKernels. When I searched this error, I found that I needed to download some service packs for Invest Sign. When I downloaded these and attempt to install them, I am prompted by Vista to "Enter the Password." Now, when I created my Admin account, I did not enter a password, so I have no clue what password they may mean. While investigating this problem, I have attempted to right-click the files and select "Run As Administrator," as well as creating a password and then trying ot use that during installation. Unfortunately, neither of these things work. Is there a default Vista password or is this a bug?
Anyone who has tried to install .NET Framework 1.1 in Vista build 5456 knows that it just throws an error during install. Aaron Stebner has posted instructions on how to work around this issue on his MSDN Blog. Click below to view his post.
We keep getting a Fatal Error when installing the HP wireless printer. We are working with the CD that HP supplied specially for Vista. The install gets close to finishing that then we get the message of a Fatal Error. Does anyone have a solution to this, or help so that we can get the printer and software loaded up and working?
(KB935509 - A software update is available for versions of Windows Vista that include the Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption feature). I am having a problems installing the KB935509 update on a Vista Enterprise system. Windows Updater is always unsuccessful - I have tried many times. I have even downloaded KB935509 & installed manually -it says successful but if I look under Control Panel/Installed Updates it is not listed there and Windows Updater keeps coming back with a request to install. This is very frustrating - I keep going around in circles. I understanding that I will need this update to load Vista SP1 when available. Short of doing a clean install of Vista is there anything I can do?
I bought a new laptop with Vista Home Premium and was told that I could install office 2003 without a problem. I have the disc for small business office 2003, that I have installed on my PC with windows XP pro. I load the disc and the wizard opens and starts the download but stops about 1/4 of the way through saying there is an error- a file is missing and to use the disc ( which I already have in the drive).
On a vaio Sony lapotop I checked for sp1 via windows update and there was none, so I went to the sony support site and looked under the updates for the particular laptop and it had a "prerequisite" download for sp1. So I thought ok once I install that everything will be ok and I will see SP1 on windows update, however I installed it and then got errors on windows update>> when I press get help I get this This is a pile of dung.. what credentials.. I am soley connected to my dsl modem, and I am administrator, and windows update was working before I did the update! So why was it broken now?
I then tried to do a system restore to the time before the update but the system restore kept failing! I tried 3 different dates...The update created a restore point before it was installed but it was not working!!! whats the point then? so now I cant update and I cant do a system restore...
when I go to the update, it asks me to check for an update after that it asks me to update windows vista update. when I go to download the windows vista update it errors me. I have had a read through the update logs, and the error code I am getting is : 0x800b0001. A quick google lead me to belive that this was a problem with cryptographic service provider: Error code when you try to use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates: "0x800B0001". anyway, I tried both of the fixes listed on the page and to no avail. When I tried the software fix, it proceeds to the update, but just pauses about 75% in. when I tried the registering .dll option, the .dll registered but the computer still does not update.
I get that damn 0xc0000034 error when trying to update to SP1. So what I want to do is do a full PC backup, reinstall Vista, then do a full PC restore. Now, will the PC restore overwrite my OS settings? Meaning, will it drop Vista to below SP1 status?

Club member's computer. Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit. When I first picked it up, no shortcut link to a program would work. I drilled down to the executible files; winword.exe, excel.exe, iexplore.exe and then double click. The error message went something like this: "This file does not have a program associated with it from performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associtation Control Panel." There was no way to "restore to a previous... No dice. With a start up disk, was able to solve that problem.
Disk Cleanup removed 2.45MB. Uninstalled Trend Micro (subscription had expired a year ago!) Installed and updated AVG 9 Free ran a complete scan - nothing. I installed Malwarebytes and it found one insignificant cookie. I went to Windows Update, the first update offered was Service Pack 1. It installed. I downloaded and attempted to install Service Pack 2. Error 0x8004100a with a link to a web page that offered several means of installing the service pack; Windows Update -- found a few insignificant updates, download the SP2 installation file which I had already done, so I did it again. No dice.
A couple of days I did a stupid thing. Thinking it would free some diskspace I deleted "WindowsSoftwareDistribution" folder after rebooting I noticed that Windows update is not using Microsoft update service anymore, instead it reverted to Windows update service.
I clicked on the "Get updates for more software" link button, I was directed into Microsoft update website. unfortunately right after the "Review the license agreement" page I got the 0x80070002 error on Microsoft update, so I tried going to Windows update instead on IE but I also got an error there. When I tried checking for updates on My computer it worked like a charm (only Windows update not Microsoft update).
So I googled the error (since Microsoft website was no help at all) I found a couple of solutions Deleting the content of "WindowsSoftwareDistributionDataStore" then starting Windows update. And that was no help at all. I reverted the content of the folder "WindowsSoftwareDistribution" as it was before I started missing with it. And that was no help at all..............
when i try to update windows, it gives an error 8000FFFF. i have also tried renaming softwaredistribution folder and catroot folder, also tried restarting BITS and windows update services but still it gives the same error. This is the 1st time i m trying to install updates and there are no Updates in the View Installed Updates coloumn.
I have some strange problems with my comp security. I cannot update windows - error 8024402C In Help I found that I have to turn off Firewall, Antivirus,anti-spyware software, while downloading and installing updates.I checked my Windows Security Center and found out that I have 2 Firewalls Windows Firewall and McAfee on at the same time. I can turn Windows Firewall off,but I can't do anything to McAfee.I have no idea where it comes from.I never installed it and more than that I checked all my computer, registry. I didn't find anything close to it.
But my Security Center says that I have not only McAfee Firewall ,butI also have McAfee Antivirus and multiple antispyware programs and all this stuff turned on and up to date.Sometimes I have this : -"problem was caused by itdefender Antivirus, which was created by Bitdefender. Currently, there is no solution for the problem that you reported" I do not have any Bitdefender in my computer. Where all this stuff comes from. The only Antivirus that I installed in my comp was NOD32 But I had to uninstall it Because I do not want them to conflict with each other.
I recently purchased Windows Vista Premium upgrade for my Computer. I installed it as an upgrade and it worked for a little bit then it needed to downloaded updates. After it downloaded the updates it said it needed to install them and close windows and reopen. So it closed and when Windows reopend it said that the updates had an error and needed to reload and shut down and restart. Then it did it again and again and again. So being disgusted with the whole thing I did a clean install. Now what my problem is, is that when I try to activate windows online it says that my version of Windows is for upgrading not for clean install and it wont give me the option to activate by phone. How do I go about doing it by phone? What would be the phone number to do this?
