Installer Has Stopped Working, Can't Get The Manage Attachments Feature To Work

I have been trying to dowload programmes from the BBC iplayer site but first it tries to install Adobe AIR. This fails, giving a meaningless Windows message stating that the installer has stopped working. I can't get the Manage Attachments feature to work so I can't upload images of the error messages. I have an administrator account.
Following instruction, I downloaded AIR directly from the Adobe site and found that it still wouldn't install on my account. It asks me twice if I want to run the installation exe file but from two different locations which is weird. Once again I can't upload an image for some reason but the first Open File dialogue box has: Name: ...mon Gail_BecxDesktopAdobeAIRInstaller.exe Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated............
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Quicktime was working perfectly until yesterday when I tried to install the newest version of iTunes but the installation failed (I received "Cannot Open Key:"error) When the iTunes installation failed, it took Quicktime with it. I navigated to the key in question and found 3 iterations of it. I set the permissions to full and tried again but every time as the program installation neared completion, I would see an icon for Data Execution Prevention appear in my system tray. I have tried to set the Quicktime installer to be ignored by DEP but no luck. I also get the "Windows Installer Stopped Working" Box some of the time and when I click on more details it seems to point to MSIEXEC.EXE. I have visited Apple's forums, COMPLETELY uninstalled Quicktime, iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Software Update and Apple Applicaton Support several times per their instructions in these articles I would like to have both Quicktime and iTunes on my PC but if that is not possible, I need to get Quicktime back by itself as a program I use often (Starry Night Pro 6) and paid $150.00 for won't run without Quicktime 7.0 + (I was able to install Quicktime 6.5 successfully but Starry Night won't run with it). Please help as I have already spent about 10 hours working on this! I am unable to use System Restore to roll back to before I tried to install iTunes-there are about 20 restore points but they are all after I tried to install iTunes.
I accidentally restarted my laptop in the middle of a Windows Update and now I get several messages when I boot up. These include "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working," and "Windows Run (.dll) has stopped working," as well as a few others that I cannot remember. The ill effects of my actions are manifest in the loss of wireless internet capabilities, a text bubble from the process icons on the taskbar that says there are multiple Windows Security Alerts, as well as one that says "Windows cannot detect any updates." When I open up the window to try to do a Windows Update, it says that I have never downloaded an Update (and I have) and it also does not allow me to get an update.
Lately when I've tried looking at different folders and files on my hard drives I keep getting "Windows Explorer has stopped working and will restart." It's driving me nuts, I can barely do anything. Also, same thing with Internet Explorer...I'm getting real sick of Vista's shoddiness..
I have transfered my programs using the transfer companion beta. I had to change the language and locale to US English for that to work. But now lots of programs fail to open as Windows Installer throws a messge windows installer coudl not be accessed. I intsalled the windows iinstaller clean up utility and now i have this message when i try to open a program... Cant find script engine 'VBS Script' for script c:userspeterAppDatalocal empIXP000.tmpstartMsi.vbs
Windows Installer doesn't work. Whenever I open setup.exe of any game it says Configuring Windows Installer.. Preparing to install.."POOF"!! and there it goes !!Any solution for this? I tried system restore. I also tried the Windows Installer update thing. It says Not enough space to preform this command. I have 60GB free space in my C:/ drive. Games I tried:Outrun 2 Coast 2 Coast Call of Duty 2.
I decided to make the most of my MSDN subscription and give Vista a go, since my XP installation was very slow. I wiped the drive clean and installed Vista Ultimate SP1 - with an open mind and high hopes.
It took a while to install, but time aside it was rather painless. However, my experience started to go downhill quickly. As a first step, I opened up IE and went straight to AVG's website to get some Antivirus protection. IE crashed. Ok, so I tried a few other websites. IE crashed rather often, in fact it's not random it'll crash on the same websites every time. So I managed to get Firefox installed without having IE crash - and tried to do all my updating through Firefox (not much choice).
My second bad experience was when I tried to install MSN Messanger. First off, the online downloader/installer didn't work. Says it couldn't install and to try again later. So I opted for the standalone installer (took a while to find) and tried it. It installed, but unfortunately it constantly crashes with various exceptions, seems to be related to the rotating ads but can't be sure. I have even tried to install Flash & Java and still no luck with the wierd exceptions. I also made sure I updated my video drivers to the latest ATI drivers available.........
I Hope someone can assist me with a problem that is driving me to distraction. My PC runs Vista Home Premium and has not caused me many problems since I sorted out the installation issues. However since I installed Roxio Creator 2009 a month or so ago I have had lots of problems. I am now troubled by a Windows Installer problem. When I start up I get a series of messages flagging up starting with "preparing to install" followed by "please wait whilst windows configures the destination" then by "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternative path to a path containing the installation package'status m s i' in the box below" the box below contains a file name as follows "c:user ALANSM~1AppDatalocal emp7zs9ED" This series of messages keeps repeating for 5 or more times every time I cancel it. I thought it may have been caused by Roxio so I tried to uninstall. Roxio would not uninstall however. The wizard starts but then I get a message saying "setup encountered an error during installation 'Error Code 04C7" then the wizard shuts down leaving Roxio intact.
i am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit on a custom built PC (Info at bottom). The problem is that there was an issues with the PC and some OS files were corrupted causing problems with Vista. I have tried to load the vista install boot DVD to do a system restore or a clean install of vista but for some reason it cannot boot from the dvd drive. Now i have tried everything i can think of. I have changed the priorities of the boot devices so it boots the DVD drive first however it seems to just ignore it. the drive powers up and reads and whatnot but it doesnt boot the cd it just loads from the HD. When i remove all the boot list items and leave just the DVD drive as the boot option i get a screen saying insert boot media/disk and press any key to continue. Upon doing that the message just appears again. I have checked the hardware. everythings connected properly and tightly. I even stripped the system down to only the Mobo, CPU, Video Card, HD and dvd drive are in and still nothing.
I have installed Vista from this cd on another machine and on 2 different hard drives in this machine in the past. 1 install was about a week ago. i have even tried using a windows XP boot disk and still it doesnt boot from the dvd drive. The DVD drive works perfectly with no problems when the OS is running. I can read and burn cd/dvd and play music and games on it. Recognizes it as a vista install disk as well when the os is running. The Bios recognizes all the devices connected to it as well (HD, CPU, DVD drive, etc) I am just stumped as to what it could be.
whenever i download an .exe program or .msi installer vista shows: iTunes installer for example, but occurs with all downloaded files. However programs i already had on my hdd install fine. I have not yet had time to test a 64 bit native app to see if it installs fine, but all the programs i try and fail to run once downloaded are on the compatibility list.
By now it should be obvious that, under the Vista operating system, I have Home Premium, there is a severe overall, general "has stopped working" problem.

Is it not obvious by now that Vista has a problem, maybe a compatability problem, with everything from Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word to third party programs which cause programs, as I mentioned, even programs made by Microsoft, to "stop working"? Is there no an overall "stopped working" patch or something that Microsoft has released by now?...............
All of a sudden some of my programs stopped working, for example catalyst control center is supposed to start as soon as vista starts, but now it gives me an error like:
"CCC.exe has stopped working"
Same with some others...
Yes i ran AVG, i ran malware, and superantispyware, none of them finds anything.
I cant even load daemon tools now, it gives me some error: "Engine loading was failed", cant uninstall it, it gives me another error, and some of the programs like netlimiter if i start them from my objectdock dock they automaticly stop working, only when i start them from the normal .exe they dont crash.
I received a notice that a service pack was available for my Vista os. Wanting to keep my operating system current and up to date, I clicked to install it. After leaving the computer run, I returned to find the computer had rebooted as I expected it to. The problem arrived when I went to check email. Clicking on any attachment, nothing will open! Jpg, mpg, wmv, pdf, nothing opents! I went to "Tools, Options" and made sure that my settings allowed attachments to be opened. Clicking Apply, I checked all other settings, made sure all appeared correct, I clicked ok.
I rebooted the computer again, and checked mail and once again, nothing would open...This happened to me once before, and I simply went to my system restore points and restored from an earlier date. Problem solved! So thinking that this would work, and as I have my computer set restore points weekly, I went to restore to an earlier date. Unfortunately, the only restore point was at the time of the update! So even though I restored the computer, it didn't solve the problem.
I used registry defrag of "Registry Mechanic" and its stopped to work suddenly so I restarted the computer and all was different. All the data that was on the desktop have been deleted, the font is different, when I'm opening FF it's asking me if I want to transfer from IE (like the first time I used it) and the most important thing that I can't get into the Restore fuction so I stuck here. What shall I do ? I have Vista Ultimate x64.
I added a new user profile for my son last week. Yesterday, when I tried going back and making his ID an administrator, I could no longer see the ID in the manage accounts box. I can only see the ID in parental controls. Also, I cannot create a new ID and when I try to enable User Account Control (UAC), it doesn't remain on. I tried to do a system restore to a point created last week but that didn't work. Has anyone encountered this issue? Could this be a Vista bug? I have Vista Home Premium.
Bought a Toshiba Satellite A100 from ebay with a cracked screen. I changed the screen yesterday, and the laptop worked well with no problems. Then today I decided to do a fresh installation of Vista because of all the previous owner had the hard drive in a bit of a mess. I installed using my normal Vista Anytime Upgrade disk and as soon as it finished installing I started getting all these messages like "Windows Modules installer has stopped working", "Desktop Window Manager has stopped working" and "TFncKy has stopped working". Things I've tried include reinstalling Vista from another disk. Using a different hard drive, changed the ram, installed all the proper drivers, installed vista updates (won't let me install SP1), staring at it menacingly & banging my head off the desk.
OK, I've been on this quest for two days now, searching all over the internet. I wonder if ANY body has the answer.
The other day my new computer (Dell Inspiron) came with a 320 gig HDD. Yes, it has the annoying EISA configured partition of 55 MB (EDIT 11/15 just caught mistake, edited from GB to MB) but that's not the big issue.
Another partition is Drive C and allocated with 288 GB and has the OS on it. Only 22.9 GB being used.
The last partition with 10 GB is drive D (recovery).
I want to take a BIG piece out of the C partition and create new partitions.
Using EITHER the Disk Managment tool OR diskpart.exe I am ONLY allowed to shrink C by 128 GB. So after using either, C is 159 GB and the new partition is 128 GB. And many reports around the internet say gparted don't work neither.
I want C to be around 30 GB - 50 GB
Sure I could BUY Partition Magic 8.0 for $70, but this is ONE TIME reallocation. That's a little pricey for a one time shot and I do not support Symantec.
I am totally new to second life and I installed it on my new laptop 15,4 screen (Asus Z53S) dual core T7700, 2GB memory, graffic card Nvidia G Force 8600M GS Vista Home OS, but I don't manage to stay operational (?) more than a few seconds. I have cabble connection (usually 13500 kps download and 480 upload rate). What happens is when I start the game I manage to move (walk7fly) for a few seconds and I imediatly loose all control over my avatar (keeps walking/flying etc).
As you can see, the right columns, normally showing publisher and status, have disappeared. Looks the same if I start IE without add-ons. I check the add-ons from time to time, but I am not sure what has happened here since last. I believe I have installed an nVidia ActiveX to detect latest driver for my graphics card, and yesterday I installed update 11 to Java 6.
I installed Windows live messenger, nevest verson a longtime ago, it stoppet to work some days ago, so i deleted it and tried tu uninstall. Then i tried to install it again, but the installing window told me that i already had windows live messenger. Now, i cant find the program or install it, what should i do?
Are the save password check boxes missing from your network authentication screens? This is one of the most annoying issues with Windows Vista for me since I work off a local NAS I have at home all the time. Rather than just save my password as it should the first time when I checked the save password box, it seems to throw my password away after a reboot. If that was not enough, now Windows Vista no longer even gives me the option to save my password.

My laptop froze during a shutdown process and I was forced to turn it off by holding the power button down. Since then my USB hub seems to have stopped working; anything plugged into it doesn't even turn up on the computer even though all the lights on them are on (indicating they are receiving power at the very least). How can I fix this?

Running Vista Home Premium, WD, WF and Avast (email scanning disabled). As of 3 days ago, when I close WM I receive the "WM can compact...". When I click Ok, I get "WM has stopped working would you like to restart it". I click "yes" and then I get "DEP has closed WM". No problem sending or receiving mail.
I am running vistas sp1 I am unable to open IE unless I right click and run as admin. hyperlinks don't work either. shouldn't have to do this. if I turn off UAC it works though, but do not want to. help please since I can not unistall and reinstall.
I keep getting a window telling me that internet explorer has stopped working and then closes all my programs and I have to start over. This used to happen only every once in a while but now it happens everytime I try to close a program. I then have to start all over with the programs I had running.
i have tried to get this game to work for a long time now, i'm totally desperat. i can see the movie in the beginning but right before the meny it shuts down and it says Jk.exe has stopped working i have tried to run it in compatibility mode but it doesnt work either, i have asked around and the answer i get is "it's becouse of vista" and i just wonder if there is anything i can do before i go and buy myself an old computer with windows 95.
