How Stop Explorer From Restarting And Getting Printer(s) Installed?

Last night I rebuilt my Compaq Presario V6171CL notebook - reusing the same Vista 32-bit cd it was previously built with. All software as been activated. This time however, when I go to printers, add printer, network printer - windows explorer restarts. These apps have been installed: Vista 32 bit OS; Office 2007 standard; visio 2007; publisher 2007; Cute PDF, Adobe Reader & Outlook has been configured with one email account. All updates have been installed. User Account Control has been disabled and reenabled. I can install a local printer but not a network printer. The PC is attached to a domain correctly. Any Ideas how to stop explorer from restarting and getting the printer(s) installed?

Not sure why but every time I close explorer it restarts?! It is bugging me to no end.

I finally had my Vista working fairly well for the last few months after the update service pack, until last night, my daughter wanted to put yahoo instsant messenger on the computer, it seems after I installed that, when I am on Internet Explorer when I x out it says IE has stopped working then it says it is restarting and does, this happens everytime, and only since last night

When i go into my downloads folder, a message comes up saying Windows Expolorer is not working. then .. Restarting and my whole desktop refreshes... I wonder because I installed a microsoft update which i dont think installed properly crashed my computer, so i did a system restore. That was a week before this problem arose.

i saw a video of someone i subscribed to on Internet, and he posted a video about a 'god mode' folder, and it was real, except he forgot to put '32 bit only'.., so what it was was you had to made a new empty folder on your desktop, and rename it something like 'godmode.{j74h37858g83e453e4g74c}' but right after i did, the folder disappeared, and windows explorer kept restarting about every 5-10 seconds, and i was just lucky i had another user on this computer which does still work. but i really need that first account back (it was the administrator account). so yeah, any thoughts on this would be helpful. *also, i forgot to note that safe mode doesn't work either; the screen just keeps flashing black every 5-10 seconds, which is obviously still the windows explorer.

I am getting the windows explorer stopped working/restarting loop upon computer startup. I followed a suggestion to check "eventvwr" from the task manager and it seems as though the fault is associated with MP4splitter.ax My problem (or at least I think my problem) is that I cannot locate this file to delete it. A simple search of the computer does not bring it up. I already tried the "change from thumbnails to icons" thing in the control panel but can't seem to get to the correct screen it in time.

Printer sharing stopped working. "Server" machine with the printer is Vista. It uses printer fine. Router is Linksys WRT150n. 2 laptops, and second PC all with XP. second pc is connected to router by cable, not wireless."Server Machine" sees all machines on the Network page. Workgroup name matches on all 4 machines. The 3 XP machines cannot find the printer. When I run "add a printer" all I get is "Micrsosoft Windows Network" on the browse for printer page. I used to be able to see all the pc's and the printer attached to them. No new firewalls on any machines, I have disabled network discovery and printer sharing, and then reenabled. I have created a new workgroup name in hopes of fixing problem. I have run the network wizards.

I'm running Windows Vista, but I have a PSC all in one that was originally programmed for Windows XP. I have gone to the PSC manufacturer and obtained an updated driver for the PSC, and I can install it and use the printer, but when I shut the computer down and restart it the driver does not stay installed. I have to re-install the driver every time I start the computer. Is there a way to make this driver stay installed?

i have problem with HP Deskjet 450 under Vista Home Premium. Printer is installed by Vista, everything looks ok, but i can't print. When i want to print Test page, only row of 2-20 smilies is coming out in best case and print job shows error . When i ask HP, they say Microsoft is responsible for drivers. Microsoft says i should ask HP. I slowly begin to be annoyed. Have bought short certified hi-speed USB 2.0 cable. Windows update shows that there is optional update for Other hardware - dj450 USB, dowloaded and it says it is not possible to install, error code: 80070103. Under Win XP are no problems. Is there any solution aside from buying new printer or downgrade to XP?Is there a way to install this update

I recently ran memory diagonistic tool and also timing a boot time with .vbs file and after this my computer booting speed became fast, but now when I try to play online game explorer stopped working message is keep popping up and I had this problem when I first got my laptop. I researched and adds-on might cause this problem. But I'm not sure what casue this problem right now. Also I dowloaded microsoft word viewer casue I needed it wuickly. So after I downloaded the viewer I had 6 windows updates that are related to this program. Do u guys think this caused the problem? I checked some tips how to speed up my laptop's performance I saw "how to Enable or Disable the Receive Window Auto Tuning Level in Vista" and I saw that the auto tuning was highly restricted (see the attachment). Does this prevent the internet go slow? cause i'm having problems where I can't load some videos fast.

My username downloads folder would immediately cause explorer to stop working and restart, so I was unable to do anything with my downloaded files. I don't believe I downloaded any harmful things but something was up with the files so I wanted to delete them anyway. My only option was to completely delete the downloads folder, and now I don't know how to get one back. I saw on a separate forum to type shell:downloads (enter) in the start search but this only brought up a window saying the search had no results. I hope to get a new username downloads folder that gets the files when I download from firefox, obviously simply creating a folder won't work

Everytime I try to open up the control pane, Vista tells me that Windows Explorer has stopped working, then restarts it.
I'm using Business Ultimate 64bit. I've run sfc /scannow several times.
I have a custom built PC,

That's about it. Default BIOS setup.I tried running 'msconfig' and disabling all Non-Microsoft Services and all Startup items.
Interestingly enough, when I boot into Safe Mode I can access the Control Panel just fine. I don't know what that means.. I'm new to this, I'm a Mac user by default.

My internet explorer will randomly stop working sometimes. I'm able to use it for an hour or so and then it stops working. I still remain connected to the internet because AIM still works. I have to restart my computer for the browser to start working again.

Every time I try to upload a picture to, for example, facebook, or I try to attach a picture from my pictures file to an email, I start browsing, get to my pictures, and three seconds later, Internet Explorer stops working, telling me it has encountered a problem (it never tells me what) and then restarts. I have lost entire emails this way, plus I can never browse my pictures when I am online! It might happen to other documents (like Word) as well, I have never tried.

another problem with this OS, it seems once an hour my Windows Explorer will completely kick the bucket. What happens is all the windows and tabs at the bottom of the screen stop working and kind of migrate to the bottom left all mashing together making everything practically useless. So I end up have to end explorer.exe and resterting it.

I have a question about Vista. I currently have XP installed however it seems to be a corrupted install as software, i.e. Internet Explorer, downloaded software, etc, gets uninstalled and won't work everytime I turn off the PC. I was wondering do I need to purchase the full version of Vista Basic or can I use the upgrade. I have read on one website that the upgrade won't work but on another website it states that corruptions will be repaired with the upgrade. Which is correct?

First off, let me just say I'm pretty much a total dunce when it comes to computers. So, anyway I just got a new hard drive because my old one died and it seems I already have problems. I had similar problems with the old one (kept restarting itself) until eventually it got to the point I couldn't start or even repair/reinstall Windows because there were no drivers. However this time I don't get the BSOD when it happens, at least visibly (in the error report it tells me the Problem Event Name is BlueScreen).
This is the second or third time (one of the times could have been because of a power outage) it's happened since I got my new hard drive on the 16th. The screen turns black for a few seconds and then it restarts. With my last hard drive it would give the BSOD after the black screen, but not with this one. I just don't know what to do, I thought my problem was with my hard drive the last time which is why I bought a new one and it seems to have helped, but now I'm thinking there might have been problems elsewhere too........

Im a little lost on where i go next with this issue. I got a computer about 1.5 years ago now with Vista Premium on it. Everything was great up until a few months ago. My computer started restarting randomly. I thought it might be a virus so i did the normal scaning and found nothing, just to be safe i reformatted it with a clean windows install. But its still happening. I didnt change any hardware, its in a properly ventilated area, and nothing in perticular seems to trigger it. Sometimes it can go 2 days without restarting once, some times it can do it twice in half an hour. I dont get a blue screen and i havnt been able to find anything in the event logs.

I have a multi boot system with XP, Vista, 7 (RC1) and Ubuntu. If I select "restart" in order to reboot, it just waits until I do a hard reset. If I select shutdown, then it does so. Neither XP or 7 has this problem. Any fix for this?

I?m trying to install a network printer on a Vista machine. Vista is able to locate the printer on the network but when I select it for installation, for some time, Vista tries to connect and then pops up this message: "Failed Connecting to Printer - Access Denied" And then another window pops up with this message: "Spooler Subsystem Application stopped woring and has been closed." In fact the spooler service always stops, so I have to restart it on the services windows, within Administrative Tools of the Control Panel. The machine is new and has been installed yesterday. Everything else works fine. The printer I am trying to install is on a Windows XP Professional machine within the same network (naturally).

I am working on my mothers computer. She has a dell inspiron 1525 running windows vista basic.
She is having a huge problem. Whenever she starts her computer, it starts up normally, and goes all the way to the log in screen. You can log in and everything seems fine. It takes about 30 seconds from the time that it shows the accounts to choose from until it automatically restarts. I let the battery completely drain and am recharging it. It is still auto restarting. Her AV was up to date and no problems there.

I'm having a problem with Vista 64, I've verified the date and time in the bios (new motherboard) what happens is the date and time change to Dec 2016 after the PC restarts and the desktop is ready for action. I've scanned for viruses and malware and none were found, this is a new install from scratch.
Also I have a "Interactive Services Detection" error that forced me to disable the service, does anybody know how to fix it instead of disabling the service? I could just do another re-install but I'd like to avoid that right now.

i use vista ultimate. I checked for new updates then installed them. My machine keeps shutting down and restarting. I see on the screen "configuring updates, do not power off, 3 of 3 updates 99% completed". this keep going on and on. I power off after 24 hours then thy to restore my machine using the installation dvd, but my machine does not seem to boot from the dvd. It says reboot and select the boot device or instert the dvd and hit a key... things like this. Anytime i hit the key nothing happens. I dont wana loose my files.

I have a Dell PC with XP Home and a Dell A960 Printer attached to it. I also have a new HP Laptop with Vista premium that has also had the same printer attached to it at times so the drivers are installed on HP laptop. I recently installed a router so I can use laptop wirelessly. That works fine. However, I am unable to print to the host printer wirelessly. I get message saying printer cannot communicate with computer. I tried everything I found on Google searches. I have enabled printer sharing on both. Do I have to make the Workgroup names the same and if so do I change the Dell with XP or the HP with Vista? I changed the Dell once to no avail so I changed back. Do computer names have to be same? I am a novice at networking.
