I have a computer that was custom built about 6 years ago and was installed with Windows XP Professional edition. I went to reinstall XP using the original disk that came with the computer. I failed to think ahead and it got to the screen where I have to input the Product ID code that was originally located on the Disk sleeve, which of course I no longer have. I've read several suggestions online about accessing the code through the computer, but they all sound really complicated and I can't get into the computer anyway because of the midinstallation stalling. Shouldn't there be a record with Microsoft that I can access online from another computer from when I registered my copy years ago when I bought it?
I apologize if this issue has already been addressed elsewhere. I have a problem though. I have a computer that was custom built about 6 years ago and was installed with Windows XP Professional edition. I decided last night that it was time to reformat the hard drive on the computer and take it back to normal. I went to reinstall XP using the original disk that came with the computer. Unfortunately, I failed to think ahead and it got to the screen where I have to input the Product ID code that was originally located on the Disk sleeve, which of course I no longer have. I've read several suggestions online about accessing the code through the computer, but they all sound really complicated and I can't get into the computer anyway because of the midinstallation stalling. Shouldn't there be a record with Microsoft that I can access online from another computer from when I registered my copy years ago when I bought it? That would be so much simpler.
I did the whole "take ownership" and deleted most of the files that I needed to, but the files I had a problem with in the beginning are still there...and it wont let me delete them..Im trying to delete the "creative" product registration pop up...and I looked and sure enough theres the file for it right there and I cant delete it (even with the "take ownership")

Even though I've tried all three options: Register. Tell me later. Never register. It won't stop popping up. I've registered vista, yet the thing keeps popping up asking me to register... can I turn it off or get rid of it?
I have a HP Pavilion DV6330 Laptop which I have recently performed a system recovery due to an unrelated problem. The system works fine now but I keep getting a message from HP to register on my screen,I've register three times and when I select the option of 'do not remind me any more'-the message keeps appearing, its so annoying does anyone have a solution please.
I have a problem, I have Microsoft Word 2003 installed in Vista. The problem is I have problem that this window keeps appearing when I open Word..."The product is not Microsoft Genuine product"... I really want to get rid of this... can you tell me how to get rid that bar in MS Office 2003? I'll be waiting for response.
Have you recently installed a system utility or a productivity application such as Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Dreamweaver and have been bombarded with registration messages that pop-up every time your start the application? Even when you check the box and tell the application never to remind you ever again?
This happens to me all the time and is very annoying. The culprit of this problem is... you guessed it, UAC!
Your application keeps asking you to register because the registry key that it checks to see if you should still be harassed into registration is never getting set thanks to UAC. When I check the box or hit the Never remind me again button the registry write gets virtualized because the app tried to write to a part of the registry a standard user does not have access to. This is a feature of UAC and it does a great job of redirecting the registry write so the application does not crash out. However, since the application is not aware of this virtualized write location it keeps checking the registry value of the key in the normal location. Since the application has read only access to that location the key will keep getting virtualized every time you check the box and is why the registration boxes keep popping up. How do you get out of this mess? Real simple, just run the application as an Administrator ....
I have a program, Harvard Graphics for Windows, developed by Software Publishing Corp back in the mid-1990's. Some years ago, I installed it on one of my desktops (Windows 2000 Pro platform) without a problem. Recently, I copied the folders onto my desktop with Vista Home Premium . Appropriate drivers (just three) were copied into the Windows and System32 folders. However, at start-up I get to see the logo page, but then a Harvard Graphics error message appears, as follows: "Can't start Harvard Graphics because of a problem with the Windows registration database."I never ran into this when I moved to Windows 2000 from Windows 95. Does anyone know of a way around this? I have many charts that have been developed with this software, and I would like to continue to be able to access the software.
Just want to get things clear about the product key of windows... Is every windows cd customized for its own product key? What I mean is if I lost my install CD but I still have my product key, am i able to use my friend's OS cd to install on my pc and instead of his key I use my own product key? Or I cant do this?
I had bought an HP 2133 when I was in Bahrain. When I first started up the computer, Vista Business started installing, probably from the Recovery partition. Anyway, I am in Turkey now and I upgraded mh harddisk and wanted to install Vista Business on the new harddisk. Underneath my computer there is an original Microsoft sticker for the product Key. During the Vista installation I typed this key but received an error message that the key cannot be validated. The key starts with J4CQ3- What might be the reason? What is the solution? I want to use my original Vista Product Key.
Does anyone yet know of anywhere or anyway that one can obtain a Vista SP1 DVD, for a nominal charge, that one can use with the product key that came with one's non-SP Vista DVD?
i have a windows vista home premium cd. it came with a product key but i already used that. i wanna know if i can use that same cd to install windows vista but using a different product key that displays under my laptop.
I have a HP compac 17" laptop. On the Id sticker on the bottom Of the laptop there is a product key number. I used Magic Jelly bean finder and it came up with a totally different product key #.
I have bought windows vista ultimate and the origin of it is Ireland. Since my laptop was manufactured in the UK will this affect the working of the product? I assumed it would work ok but someone brought the subject up and I'd thought I'd check before I open the package up!
I bought windows vista ultimate in may of 2007 to upgrade from XP, it ran fine until feb 2008, when my graphics card failed and i thought my windows messed up, causing me to erase windows, so i had to take it to Data Doctors to get XP back on so i could upgrade to Vista, well now its not letting me activate my windows because my product key is already in use and im using the same key from my Ultimate box!
i recently had the vista antispyware 2010 so i reformatted my computer and now i installed the norton 360 again but if i put the product key in the norton on my account it will say i have used up all 3 keys is there any way i can like delete that i used a product key in the first place(i only want it on 2 machines for right now so when i get a new computer i can also put it in there).
my product key is on the certificate of authencity at the back of my laptop but when i try to enter it in microsoft powerpoint, word etc, it always says that it's wrong. i really need microsoft office before it gets blocked and when i go to help it says that it should check for a sticker at the back but it says it is wrong!
Don't feel like typing in your product key before installing Windows Vista? It is now possible to install any version of Windows Vista and use it for 14 days before having to enter a product key and activating it.
While on the product key screen during install, just hit the Next button. You will be presented with a new screen ....
I dunno where this should belongs to,sorry if i posted in the wrong section.
Ok so 2-3 year ago i bought my computer and it gave me the vista disk aswell...
Then, last month,i bought a new computer and used that disk to install window vista, and today,i got a message asking me to type in the product key,but i lost it.
I tried to use programmes that find product key for you..but it didnt work,it gave me an error which is 0xC00e and something(i forgot im at school atm)
Can someone tell me where i can buy a product key but not the disk? all i want is the product key..and how much is it about?
I just got a vista computer yesterday. the people I had gotten it from said they installed a 64 bit system and 32 bit is what is reads on the system is 32 bit. what my question is. is the product key that is on the computer for a 64 bit or a 32 bit. and since a32 bit system was installed. if it should ever have to be reformatede, could it be done with the disk they gave me or does it have to be a 32 bit?
As implied by the title, my old computer died and I need to replace it. I am curious as to wheter or not it is possible to use my same Vista product key on my new computer, or if I have to buy an entirely new version.
My daughter has a dell laptop with Windows Vista installed by Dell. She has had the computer for 9 months. Today while trying to startup her computer, she got a message that her VISTA product key is invalid. Of course the recommendations involve getting on line with the computer which will not open windows. The other resolutoin suggested is to type in the product key on the computer. I am reluctant to do that since it says that if VISTA does not start up then Windows will be lost and the computer may not work at all.
