Delete Folder From C:Program Files

Feb 11, 2010

I installed a program but it does not apear in the programs and features list while it is working well. I decided to uninstall it but I could not do this because it does not apear in the programs and features list so I tried to delete its folder from C:Program Files but I could not so then I turned my computer in the safe mode and I could delete its folder. Then the problems start to begin: the security center can not see the installed antivirus, when I try to uninstall or install the programs I get: (access is denied contact the administrator) although I am an administrator. Even i could not rename my folders in the C hard disk. also when I try to open system restore I get (There was unexpected error: class not registerd 0x80040154). I do not know if it is virus or a mistake I made by deleting that program.

Cannot Delete Files From Deleted Folder

Mar 29, 2008

I'm running OL2007 on a Vista Ultimate machine. All has been well for the past year, but lately, I have run into the problem described below. It seems to happen most often when I address an e-mail to multiple recipients. It shows stuck in the outbox, although it appears that most of the time it does get sent. I often get a message to the effect that "Sent Items folder is full, delete some of the messages" (it doesn't have any more messages in it than usual, I purge them regularly).

Then, I find I can't delete the offending file. I get a simple "Folder is full" message. Also, I cannot delete any files from my deledted folder I now have 2090 files stuck in my deleted files, 6 emails stuck in my outbox. I cannot rely on sending any email from my home computer and now am relying on my lotus notes at work. I have contaced Dell - no help. I have observed all information in the discussion groups, The Intel IT people who are my neighbors have ried to address this. I am one of many experienceing this problem - even Intel staff have the same uncorrectable problem. Could Microsoft work on this issue ASAP as it is forcing me to use other email addresses and doesn't allow me to continue to work form home....

Explorer Files Dont Work And Can't Delete Files

Jul 14, 2009

While installing a program, the process was interrupted and the install created 62000 files using 160gig in my syswow64 folder virtually using all my hd space. However when you go into the syswow64 folder, there is only about 2000 files and 1 gig of space used. I have set the folders to show all hidden files. When I go into the ms dos prompt and do a directory, the files match the 1 gig data.

I can't delete these 62000 files and free up the 160 gig space because I don't believe they are actually there on the hard drive but explorer thinks they are there. Is there any way to rebuild, sync, or otherwise get windows explorer to recognize the correct amount of files that are actually in my syswow64 folder.(2000files 1gig and not 62000files 160gig)

Undeletable Files :: Unable To Delete 0 Kb Files

Aug 27, 2008

I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I have a folder on my desktop named Downloads that I use for, shockingly, downloads. Anyway, there are a couple of files in the folder that are, apparently, not really there. They are like ghost files. They used to exist but now they are still visible but not recognized by any program. Also, they have a size of 0 kb!

I'd like to get rid of them but they refuse to be deleted. When I try to delete them, I get this:

So I figured that I'd delete the whole folder........or not:

Icons/Files From User Folder Showing Up In Computer Folder

Nov 26, 2009

I have several icons/files from my "User" folder showing up in the "Computer" folder (several in duplicate), PLUS numerous blank icons. This seems to have occurred after the Common Files folder became corrupted, after I somewhat riskily decided to power off while Vista was attempting to come out of Sleep mode - it had already taken about 3 mins and I was in a hurry - bad move, I know. That delay appears to have been due to an old version of Online Armor, and has now been fixed (by an update). Chkdsk scanned and (apparently) corrected some errors, and I also ran SFC which said it had corrected some errors but had also found some that it couldn't correct.

Program Files Folder Switched To Pictures Folder Type...

Apr 15, 2008

I don't know how this happened, but I didn't do it myself. For some reason,my Program Files directory has been changed to the Photos directory type, so it changed from the details like file type, size, etc., to rating, photo size, etc.I cannot figure out how to change the directory back to a General file folder type. The toolbar shows things like Slide Show, etc.The sub-directories are all fine and appear as a General type. I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, without SP1.How do I change the folder type back to General?I can't figure out how with this single folder.

Moving A Few Files Around And Organising My Folders When I Lost A Few Files From A Folder

Sep 16, 2009

I was working on my laptop earlier this evening moving a few files around and organising my folders when I lost a few files from a folder. I don't know exactly what happened, I probably mashed the touch pad. Anyway, now I can't find the files anymore. I've tried running a search but it has come to no avail. How do I find my files? If it makes any difference the files were on a memory stick.

'You Need Permission To Perform This Action' ) to get rid of a folder called "Pictures 8-12-09" on my Desktop. Vista gave me the dreaded 'You Need Permission To Perform This Action' message, so I tried using all the methods listed in the thread, one of which was

Cannot Delete File Or Folder

Sep 2, 2009

I am using a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop with Vista Home Premium SP2. I have a folder that contains corrupted files. I am not able to delete the files or the folder. I ran chkdsk, and this would not complete because of the corrupt files. I then ran chkdsk /f, and this did not correct the problem. I tried Unlocker, and this was not able to delete the files. I did a scan for viruses and spyware, and my laptop is clean. My laptop works well with no other problems. My only concern is that neither System Restore or chkdsk work. Whenever I try to run System Restore, I get the message that it is unable to perform the task because of corrupted files. Is there anything else I can try short of doing a complete reinstall? I do not care to do a reinstall since I have no other issues with my computer.

Can Delete Rob Davies Folder

Mar 26, 2008

Due to HDD failure. THEY rebuilt it under the name of RoB Davies, NOT even my name of RoD Davies, and in any event it should have been under my wife's name. So I am apparently the defualt user. I created an Admin user under wife's name of Lenore, added a Folder under her name in the Users Folder, but can I delete the ROB Davies User??? There are the folders under RoB Davies of Contacts, Music, Pictures, Downoads, Videos, Searches etc. Even though I copied all these folders to my Wifes User Folder, and despite there being nothiing in any of these folders as its a brand new built PC, RoB Davies User folders are over 1GB in size, and my wifes about 20KB in total, so there are hidden system files in my incorrectly 'built' user folder...right? But Can I delete the Rob Davies folder??

Can't Delete The Windows Folder

Apr 25, 2008

I've recently done a clean install of VISTA Ultimate on a new hard disk. This is an upgrade copy, so I used the "old" disk and ran it from there. Vista runs on the C drive now, but I can't free up space on the "old" D drive because I can't delete the Windows folder or any of the files or folders in it. I'm denied access. Tried the Administrator account trick. Tried everything. Disk clean up tool. This is my biggest complaint with running VISTA for the past year: I can't access my own computer because I'm told I don't have permission! I built them, I run a home network of 3 machines and I'm continually told I don't have permission to do what I want or need to do. UAC is off.

Can't Delete The Libraries Folder

Oct 26, 2009

I've used Vista Home Premium for a year or so now and I've installed Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade and so far so good - I'm pretty impressed to this point. I am, however, becoming very frustrated trying to get rid of Homegroup and Libraries folders on the desktop. I know if I right click on Homegroup, there's an option for 'change homegroup settings' (from what I've seen on various Google listings) but there isn't the option to 'leave the homegroup', etc on my machine. I'm the only person using the PC so the Homegroup option won't be any use to me. I also cannot delete the 'Libraries' folder from the desktop. I've hunted high & low for an option somewhere to remove the links from the desktop by unticking a couple of boxes, to no avail :-/ Other options I've found on Google included altering registry entries but I don't want to go down that route.
