I use Windows Mail for for my normal eMail address which is a Yahoo one. It works perfectly at home here in the UK with a router. Some months ago I spent time in Spain and used WiFi in various places and each time found that I could receive but not send messages. Shortly I will be going abroad again and want to try to avoid the problem repeating itself. What should I do to make the emailing 2way?

I can receive e-mail and reply e-mail. But I can't send new message. Should I call my provider? When I set up my e-mail account, they were very arrogant and sounds like even they don't want to talk to me. This is my first PC,maybe I set up something wrong. If possible,I don't want to call my provider.

All of a sudden my windows mail quit working. I can send but not receive. I get no error messages and it seems to be cycling thru from connecting to disconnect. All it says is "no new mail". Been using the att web mail to get my messages that has been taken over by Yahoo and is a major pain in the butt to share with 3 family members. I have uninstalled Norton 360, unchecked the secure box and run all kinds of registry error fixes. Still won't work.

Here is the message I'm receiving and we've checked the passwords, and clicked off the authentication button. etc.
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

setting up windows mail on new hard drive and can't seem to figure out how to get it right. I am using a live.com email adress. I have already tried getting rid of antivirus stuff and fiddling around with security things. When i click send/receive mail it goes through and tells me i have no new emails which i know isn't true, i have 10 sitting online. I emailed myself and got a new email online so i know i can send them. When i click pop3.live.com under the send/recieve all button it gives me this error: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Not a huge problem as I can at least send and receive emails manually but can anyone suggest why my Windows Mail account no longer checks for new mail automatically, even though it's still set up to do so every minute? If I click on send/receive it comes up with an error message but no error code. And if I just click on receive email any messages come through straight away. I have no problem sending email or receiving it
by clicking on "receive mail" every so often, but I've spent ages trying to get back to how it used to be and can't. I hate giving in! The problem occurred after downloading a trial version of Norton and even though I uninstalled that (later trying AVG and now McAfee) the problem has persisted for months now.

My computer crashed and had IT person set it up for me again. He is not too familiar with Vista. I now have AVG anti-virus program and some responses I have read said it could be problem with anti-virus - so does Windows mail have a problem with AVG? My error response I receive is: Subject 'help', Account: 'Windows Mail', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D
Under PROPERTIES: Servers neither box is checked Incoming or Outgoing for authentication. Under ADVANCED: Outgoing mail port number is 25 and Incoming Mail at 995 both boxes are checked for requiring a secure connection.

I'm having problems with Windows Mail, I can send mail but can't receive any. I've talked to my provider, they tell me that my set up is fine, but they don't know what's wrong. I'm getting error message of 0x800ccc0f. I've even tried other mail programs, like Thunderbird and Outlook. They don't work either and are giving me the same error message. I'm using a cable connection and haven't had this problem before, until a bought a new computer with Vista. The first day or two, my emails worked great, did not change any settings nor added any programs. Then all of a sudden, started getting the error messages. The only way that I can view my mail is to go to my providers web site and use web mail, which is a pain. I'm just about ready to junk vista and go back to Windows XP. at least, I didn't have problems like this.
