All of a sudden my windows mail quit working. I can send but not receive. I get no error messages and it seems to be cycling thru from connecting to disconnect. All it says is "no new mail". Been using the att web mail to get my messages that has been taken over by Yahoo and is a major pain in the butt to share with 3 family members. I have uninstalled Norton 360, unchecked the secure box and run all kinds of registry error fixes. Still won't work.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

setting up windows mail on new hard drive and can't seem to figure out how to get it right. I am using a live.com email adress. I have already tried getting rid of antivirus stuff and fiddling around with security things. When i click send/receive mail it goes through and tells me i have no new emails which i know isn't true, i have 10 sitting online. I emailed myself and got a new email online so i know i can send them. When i click pop3.live.com under the send/recieve all button it gives me this error: The connection to the server has failed. View 9 Replies View RelatedNot a huge problem as I can at least send and receive emails manually but can anyone suggest why my Windows Mail account no longer checks for new mail automatically, even though it's still set up to do so every minute? If I click on send/receive it comes up with an error message but no error code. And if I just click on receive email any messages come through straight away. I have no problem sending email or receiving it
by clicking on "receive mail" every so often, but I've spent ages trying to get back to how it used to be and can't. I hate giving in! The problem occurred after downloading a trial version of Norton and even though I uninstalled that (later trying AVG and now McAfee) the problem has persisted for months now.

I'm having problems with Windows Mail, I can send mail but can't receive any. I've talked to my provider, they tell me that my set up is fine, but they don't know what's wrong. I'm getting error message of 0x800ccc0f. I've even tried other mail programs, like Thunderbird and Outlook. They don't work either and are giving me the same error message. I'm using a cable connection and haven't had this problem before, until a bought a new computer with Vista. The first day or two, my emails worked great, did not change any settings nor added any programs. Then all of a sudden, started getting the error messages. The only way that I can view my mail is to go to my providers web site and use web mail, which is a pain. I'm just about ready to junk vista and go back to Windows XP. at least, I didn't have problems like this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThis infuriating situation occurred exactly one month after receiving the new computer with Vista Home Premium already installed. My old computer is connected as a small network. When the problem initially occurred on 7th June it said "Receiving 1 of 8" but never did and after a while (1/2 to 1 hr?) I logged off and logged on again but to no avail. I thought maybe a big photo or something was coming in but nothing eventuated. I accessed my email via Optus Web Mail and saw that there was nothing there bigger than 493KB. The main error message I receive is - Account: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Server: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
I have telephoned Optus (Australia) 5 times but they insist it is a Windows Mail corruption problem. No one was able to tell me what this error message actually means. Another issue that may also be connected was when I downloaded a trial version of a home video editing programme. It cut the 30 day trial by about 8 days, finishing on June 1st. June the first I thought? Why June 1st? I asked on the forum but they could not explain why.
