May 14, 2008I can no longer receive or send e-mail in vista with windows mail. I am getting 'an unknown error has occured' and the code for this 0x80004005.

The was an update loaded on my machine by winows update within the last couple days and ever since my Windows Mail no longer accesses by POP3 Email account. Mar 23, 2008I have recently added another identity to my server and was told to put the incoming pop3 as pop3.xtra.co.nz port 995 and the outgoing SMTP as send.xtra.co.nz (use 554?) port 465 and enable SMTP server authentication. I put the pop3 and SMTP info in and forgot to enter the different ports, voila i got my mail but couldnt send any. So i went in and put the ports in, voila couldnt send or receive. Have put the ports back to default and now get my mail again but when i send get this message: The connection to the server has failed. Mar 23, 2008I have been in a long process with HP to resolve a HP Photosmart C6250 printer in Vista Business. After a month of email support from HP I was told they had exhausted their resources and to call for telephone support. After several hours over two or three days, the tech (island of Cebu, Philipine Islands) identified a failure.In the software installation process, regsvr32 calls for a vbscript.dll. An Error Message results: "The module "vbscript.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005". His solution was to reformat and re-install Vista, etc.This seems somewhat similar to other printer istallation problems I noticed in searching previous forum entries.

When I boot from the install disc and run the install program it give me error code 0x80004005 and says that my computer does not have enough free space. Windows Mail: Receive Error
Mar 23, 2009Recently swithched using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with 4gb memory. As was told that MSoft Outllook not working with it? and was forced use Windows Mail intead. Basically the same as Outlook-06,07 version, but improved. Can send-receive emails, when browsing in the internet or working with word program and reach any contact "email address link" after cliking receive an error it should open new email window? Does anyone know what might be the problem on why there is an error, can fixed it or should I use with Vista, or use latest version of Outlook Express 7? (However WIndows Mail looks not bad)

Mar 23, 2008I'm having problems with Windows Mail, I can send mail but can't receive any. I've talked to my provider, they tell me that my set up is fine, but they don't know what's wrong. I'm getting error message of 0x800ccc0f. I've even tried other mail programs, like Thunderbird and Outlook. They don't work either and are giving me the same error message. I'm using a cable connection and haven't had this problem before, until a bought a new computer with Vista. The first day or two, my emails worked great, did not change any settings nor added any programs. Then all of a sudden, started getting the error messages. The only way that I can view my mail is to go to my providers web site and use web mail, which is a pain. I'm just about ready to junk vista and go back to Windows XP. at least, I didn't have problems like this.

I have tried clicking "my server requires authentication and that messed up my incoming as well. I consulted charter and they state that everything is correct and even called dell and they wanted $49 to assist me. I am at a loss and don't know how to fix this.

Not Send/Receive Mail
Apr 14, 2008I am using windows Vista Ultimate and Windows mail. It was working properly at first for a few days then receive mail quit working with an error, but the error box was empty. I am using McAfee Security Center without email scanning. I have found I can send and receive email if I do it independently by choosing the send only and receive only option pulldown, but NOT if I use the send/receive button. An error message comes up with the message area devoid of a message. It is not a McAfee problem. I even went so far as to take the advise found in this forum and uninstalled all of McAfee and this did not solve any problems. All the fixes listed in several of the answers do not work with Vista Ultimate. Says wrong version (so apparently the fixes are for the home edition only, or at least not for the Ultimate).
