Windows Mail: Receive Error

Recently swithched using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with 4gb memory. As was told that MSoft Outllook not working with it? and was forced use Windows Mail intead. Basically the same as Outlook-06,07 version, but improved. Can send-receive emails, when browsing in the internet or working with word program and reach any contact "email address link" after cliking receive an error it should open new email window? Does anyone know what might be the problem on why there is an error, can fixed it or should I use with Vista, or use latest version of Outlook Express 7? (However WIndows Mail looks not bad)

I can no longer receive or send e-mail in vista with windows mail. I am getting 'an unknown error has occured' and the code for this 0x80004005.

I have recently added another identity to my server and was told to put the incoming pop3 as pop3.xtra.co.nz port 995 and the outgoing SMTP as send.xtra.co.nz (use 554?) port 465 and enable SMTP server authentication. I put the pop3 and SMTP info in and forgot to enter the different ports, voila i got my mail but couldnt send any. So i went in and put the ports in, voila couldnt send or receive. Have put the ports back to default and now get my mail again but when i send get this message: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Welcome to Snapfish', Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz (1)', Server: 'send.xtra.co.nz', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

i have been using windows e-mail forever, since the 6/22 i have not been able to send or receive. i get error message stating: connection to server failed account, 'pop.charter.net' , server:pop.charter.net" protocol; pop3, port 995, secure (ssl): yes, socket error.10060, error number: oxooocc03 i have been reading other questions and answers and have tried most, downloaded regcure, nothing has worked.

My main mail client is my office XP system, I also receive mail in home. So I select the 'Leave mail on Server' in my home XP system and it work fine. But after I upgrade my home PC to Vista system (I export my mail account for XP outlook express then inport it to my Vista system.) then it have problem - when the mail that I received in home Vista system Windows Mail then i no longer can receive in office mail client. Does anyone know is it the bug of Vista Windows Mail?

Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.

Vista Business, windows mail. Problem receiving. Receive hangs on one of the messages. I now have a number of messages received mulitple times, Windows mail then gets to 'receiving message 7 of (currently) 21, and hangs. Sometime I get an error saying that the server has timed out. (No response for a minute) Was Perfectly OK last week. (and for a few weeks since getting my new laptop with Norton!)
it downloads the first 6 messages, gets stuck and times out on the 7th, with or without Norton. And of course, since it gets stuck, doesn't clear from the server, which is why the first six keep coming down. I think I am now on SP1, have uninstalled Norton to no effect. I think the problem mail has an Access attachment about 2 meg in size. Anyway, was OK last week, not now. receive is from oneandone, send from either oneandone or eclipse makes no difference.

I cannot receive Yahoo e-mail in Windows Mail. I've added the e-mail addresses to my safe senders list, but the messages never come through at all. I've checked the junk mail folder and deleted items, but the e-mails from yahoo accounts just disappear without ever getting to me. Is this a firewall problem, or something to do with our Windows settings?

I cannot receive windows mail. I get message saying I'm "receiving message 1 of 4" - (196 kb total) but nothing comes in. Error message is: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Seems I'm having the same problems as some others here, but I can not find the solution. I just purchased a Vista 32 Home Basic machine last week. ALL email attachments are blocked. I made sure the -Do not allow attachments-.... is unchecked in the Security tab. I'm running AVG Anti-Virus and checked those settings as well. I do see the paper clip indicating an attachment in mmy Inbox but when I opent he email there is no attachment.

Just configured Windows Mail on my new laptop, and I can send and receive messages okay, but I cannot receive attachments. There isn't even any indication that the attachment was blocked; it's just not there. Also, I cannot receive HTML formatted e-mails (I get a news headline service); I can just see the hyperlinks. I have unchecked (cleared) the box that blocks .exe files, etc, but I'm only trying to send Word docs (to myself at this point to see if everything is working).

Use Vista version 6.060001.16386 Open Windows mail, and receive mail from server loads automatically to inbox. When you click on "send & receive" Receive message "some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks" in the error tab no information no list. "0 of 2 tasks have been completed".
When you click "Receive All" connects to server and mail is received. When you click on "Send All"" the same error message but no information on the erros tab. when I closed the windows mal program received a message mail in your out box do you want to send , acknowledged yes and mail was sent. Can I reload windows mail only from the Windows Vista recovery disc that came with the computer. If so how do i do it? What is occurring how do we fix this problem

I have set up Windows Mail as my client for my POP mail. Running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. It connects and processes in coming and out going mail correctly when I start the application, however I can not get it to Send and Receive during my on line session. Clicking Send and Receive All does not work. The only way to send and receive is to close and re-open the application. I have checked all the settings, all seems ok.

My husband is having trouble with his e-mail. It has worked fine until recently. I have browsed the posts here, downloaded the "fix" and checked settings. I am able to send e-mail, but now am not receiving any..I'm not getting error messages at this moment - just not able to receive after testing several times.

I set up Windows Vista Mail on my new presario notebook *exactly* the way I had it set up on my hp pavilion that runs XP on the same network, and I can send one email and then the rest sit in the outbox until I reboot the computer, and then I can send one more email. etc. I called my ISP and they didn't know what to tell me. I've tried troubleshooting and all kinds of things, but can't get my Windows Mail to send or receive. This problem happened all of a sudden, and I wonder if it has something to do with AT&T connecting up with Yahoo. This is the error message that I'm now receiving:

I have Windows Mail as my e-mail and are currently working in Vista but when I send e-mails from work to my home PC with any attachments I can receive the e-mail but not attachments appear. I have switched of the default in the security section in tools but still no joy.

I've been using Windows Mail to for my wowway account for over and year and all of a sudden it just stopped letting me send E-mails. First when I tried to send an E-mail a Windows Mail pop up came on asking me to log into my account with username and password, which it has never asked me to do. I cannot send or receive email.
