Webpages Not Display Correctly
Jun 17, 2008Im using Internet Ex 7 Windows Vista...When Im surfing web all the webpages wont display correctly..they all have the words overlapping and such. I have tried java script stuff but nothing seems to fix it. If you need more info PLEASE ask and I'll help on my end as much as I can! if anyone knows how to read hijackthis reports that!

Aug 10, 2008I searched and couldn't find a problem to this one. While browsing my broadband connection is reliably disconnected if I type in an invalid webpage (i.e., if I type in abim.org as opposed to www.abim.org) or sometimes when trying to download a file such as the AVS file converter. If I open a different page I am prompted to connect to the internet which is quickly done but what is causing this- or more importantly, how do I fix it?

Jul 11, 2009To summerise - My internet connection seems largely fine however the are certain websites/webpages which refuse to load up. It just says waiting to connect before eventually coming up with the same message you'd get when you have no internet connection. 90% of websites are fine but the 10% includes some websites i need to get on which is rather frustrating! There seems to be no correlation between the type of sites that wont work. Some examples are Microsoft Corporation , Car Insurance, Home Insurance, Travel Insurance & Credit Cards from Tesco Finance & Insurance , Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test to name just a few...
I don't believe it's actually a computer problem as my laptop (which is new) cant connect to these sites either through my home wireless network but if i connect to the internet through a friends wireless internet the sites load no problem! I dont believe its a firewall problem or anything like that as i've tried diabling them and pretty much everything else i could think of. .........
Webpages Won't Fire Up: Blue Bar Does Not Load
Mar 2, 2009im new to this forum, my computer is running fast but for some reason recently its taking a very long time for the web pages to load up, it starts up quick and everything but i think it might be something ive done, it might be something simple, i recently cut out stuff from the STARTUP menu so its quicker on loading and ive done disck defrag and cleanup and all that, can someone tell me if ive deleted something or what to look for, im running AOL, it was ok before but was running a little slower than normal, its running fast now it just the web pages wont fire up and when i click on a link again it takes a long time, the blue bar does not load at all then suddenly about a minute or so later it loads really quickly,

Mar 4, 2009I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I can see the history when going through the star and then clicking history. It shows websites visited, UNLESS the person who visited them has deleted them from the history. I want to be able to monitor what my son is looking at, even if he knows how to delete from history by right-clicking in IE. reviously I had Windows XP, which would show the history by going through tools, internet options, browsing history, settings, view files. Even if the person had deleted the page from history while viewing, it would still show up using the method I'm describing. This doesn't work with Windows Vista. In fact, Windows Vista doesn't show ANY webpages that have been visited at all if you go through tools, internet options, browsing history, settings, view files. Is there some setting that I need to change to make it show the webpages, or is Vista incapable of doing this?

May 25, 2009Something has changed in my Home Premium system such that I can no longer save to the desktop! When I try, I get an error message stating " You don't have permission to save in this location." I do not recall changing ANY permissions to prevent this. I did have a problem installing Office Home 2007 and maybe that caused a change. Where do I need to go to set the permission back to allow me to save to the desktop?

May 22, 2009I looked but couldn't find this issue elsewhere. I noticed that when I opened my files, there were extra MY DOCUMENTS folders. Other people who used this computer apparently messed around and copied MY DOCUMENTS folders. I tried to remedy the mess, but did so when I was tired, and seem to have made matters worse. Now, when I go to the Start Menu> Documents the documents are not there. I am at a loss as to how to fix this.

How do I save my configuration information (including WEP) so that my network is connected every time I boot up? Ideally this would automatically select my SSID from the others in my neighborhood and the WEP would already be entered. My second choice would be to select the SSID and the 10-character WEP would laready be entered.

It can be saved when HTML Only is selected, but when the file is opened it only results in opening the browser to whatever state it is currently in. It can also be saved as Text File but when that is opened, the file only reads: "Windows live hotmail".

Aug 30, 2009When ever i leave my computer idled for a long time the monitors turn black and i can't do anything but shut it down and start it up again. When i shut it down it says "Out of range input 1" Then i turn it off again and this time it has an error saying Vista didn't start up correctly, then i hit "start windows normally" then i can do stuff. Solway's says a menu option will be added to save layout but it is not there and desktop shock was almost as useless and my anti virus said it was a keylogger. I need this because everytime I install new vid card drivers it scrambles my icon and I have to put all of them back which takes a few minutes but if I can find a utility to do this it would be nice.
Save Old DVDs To Computer
Nov 14, 2009I had some of my old family movie reels put onto DVDs.
I read that they need to be re-burned every few years to keep them from
deteriorating.
When I look at them with Windows Explorer, there is a folder = VIDEO_TS,
that contains files with extensions = BUP, IFO, VOB.
Can I save them on my computer then later re-burn them to DVDs for storage?
Unable To Save - Printing To PDF
May 25, 2008I am 'printing to pdf' to save a web page in that format. I get the following error message

You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission.
Would you like to save in the 'username' folder instead?
When I click on YES, I get the same error but with the 'username' in the address.

Save Emails For Transfer
May 2, 2008I want to go back to XP from Vista only because I want to sync my laptop and desktop and don't have the money to upgrade Vista to the business version. I have several valuable emails, though, in Windows Mail on the Vista desktop. How can I save them to a flash drive so that I can wipe out the partition and reinstall XP? I will not do the switch if I cannot take my email trail with me.
I am a PhD student so my email documents are extremely valuable and I cannot take the risk of losing them. I've done this before when going from an older XP machine to a newer one, but I've never done this trying to go from Vista back to XP.
Cannot Save Or Run Downloaded Files
Jul 29, 2009A friend of mine has Vista on his 2 home computers. His and his Wife's. They recently rearranged furniture, including the computers. When they plugged them all back in to their router, neither their computers, nor their xbox, could connect to the internet anymore. They called their ISP(Charter Communication) and Charter told them nothing was wrong that their cable modem was showing up fine and seemed to be working just fine. So they had a tech come out to their place and the guy was baffled. He swapped out their cable modem but said nothing was wrong with the old one, he just swapped them to make them feel better I guess. But even the tech guy couldn't understand why they suddendly cannot access the net. Even removing the router from the equation did not help one little bit. A buddy of theirs brought his laptop over to their house and was able to connect to the net through their cable modem so we know the modem is working just fine.
Well, thats when my Brother told them to call me. I did all the basic things you'd expect, starting from scratch. We started with connecting directly to the cable modem and got what I expected, zilch. I checked ipconfig and noticed they had a 169.*.*.* IP on both computers. by the way I'm doing all this long distance since they live several hours away from me. That 169 is wrong, or at least it seems like it to me so I banged away trying to change that with no results. Every change I made
reset to 169 instantly. Even a restart didn't help. So I had them plug it into the router and got a normal 192.*.*.* IP. At this point, several hours after we began, I gave up for the time being on that particular problem............

Jul 6, 2008My Vista is about 10 days old and I've gotten into some problems. I tried changing the dpi to 150%, but it changed to 192% and I cant' get it back down. The 'apply' button is beneath the taskbar and not reachable! Same with the resolution--I made it less, but it is too fuzzy. However, can't get it back because 'OK' button isn't accessible. In Word, I've lost the regular 'save as' format and it takes me to some screen that won't work

When I use Save As, the software will not permit me to save the file, because it tells me that I need "administrator privileges." I am running on a Vista 32-bit platform. When I right-click the desktop icon in question in order to use Run as Administrator, the option does not appear in the drop-down list, as it does for other software programs that I use. Is there a way for me to get around this (i.e., to run the software as an administrator)? I know how to do this in Windows 2000, but I am still on a learning curve in Vista.

Mar 23, 2008We have Vista Home Premium. After editing a picture I get the message "Changes to this picture can't be saved because it's no longer available. You might have lost your network connection or the picture might have been deleted." I am not on a network, photos are on the 'C' drive and they have most definitely have NOT been deleted. What gives? This used to work fine. Perhaps one of the 4 dozen Vista "updates" screwed it up? This is the first problem I have encountered in Vista but it is annoying as other photo editing programs do not work as well as WPG as far as lightening.

Jun 6, 2009My system unfortunately this afternoon had the power removed without warning. The system wasn't doing anything at the time but ever since will not boot correctly. It gets as far as doing the windows bar across the bottom of the screen then when I would expect the screen to show the revolving circle the screen goes to power save mode as if there is no longer a video signal. Booting into safe mode works but a normal boot is a none starter.
