I used to run three monitors on two cards, one pci and the other AGP. Somewhere along the line, (maybe when I went to XP64), this stopped working. I now have a PCI express card which cheerfully runs two monitors but if I put in an old, dual monitor PCI card it doesn't seem to be recognized. Is this a known issue and is there a way around it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a really weird scenario: I've installed Vista on one of my partitions, after a few days it got corrupted, so i've installed another version on a different partition (different disk as well). I've since deleted the first vista installation. Now vista works perfectly on my other partition, no problems. However, when looking at the disk management I can see that the old vista partition's status is:" Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition)" whereas my working vista partition is: "Healthy (Boot, Page File, Active, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)" My vista partition is not a system partition. This causes some problems, as I can't format the old vista partition. Trying to disable the disk at startup and booting with the Vista DVD doesn't help (it recognizes some problem but when rebooting, nothing happens, no loading of anything). Is there a way to assign the 'System' attribute to another partition and/or to remove the 'System' attribute from a partition?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Mail as my default mail client. After installing Office 2007 I opened Outlook 2007 for some reason and configured my mail account there. Since that time I am not able to search for mails using Vista Search. If Windows Mail is configured as standard mail application (has every standard) mails can be found, but not opened. An error message is displayed which tells me, that no standard mail client is available (in German: "Es ist kein standardm=E4=DFiger E-Mail-Client vorhanden, oder der aktuelle E-Mail-Client kann die Messaginganforderung nicht erf=FCllen..."). Then I configured Outlook as my standard mail client, which didn't solve my issue, because the message is not displayed any more, but the mail cann't be opened.

I know this probably isn't the correct newsgroup for this question, but here goes. How do you use an SD Card?
I have just bought a new one and used it in a camera. The camera confirms that there are saved photos on the card but when I connect it to the SD slot on the computer nothing seems to happen. I do notice a green light appears next to the slot on the computer as if it is reading something, but, having left it for 10 mins, nothing else has happened.
I use USB memory sticks for backup. I wonder if I should be using SD cards? My PC has slots for both. I have used SD cards in my camera, but never in my pc. Does anyone know how they compare in terms of speed and cost per gigabyte?

ATI Raedeon Xpress 200M Chipset

I have recently installed a ATI Radeon HD 4670 into my computer, I downloaded the latest ATI Catalyst driver from the ATI website and it installed the latest driver for both of the video cards, after it restarted I get this error message in the device manager for the ATI Radeon HD 4670:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)
I checked in the device manager and it says it has the same wddm driver version for both devices, I have tried installing many times but it continues to presist, is this a Windows Vista or ATI issue? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Running Windows Vista Ult and i installed a second graphics card to run 3 monitors.
The problem is device manager doesn't show the second installed graphics card.
My System:
E6850
GA-x38-DQ6 MoBo
4Gb ram
8800 Ultra
7600GT (This is the card i added)
Basically it recognizes the 8800 Ultra only. I have read that to use dual cards with Vista they need to use the same drivers (169.25), which they do. Even if that wasn't the case shouldn't the graphics card show in device manager regardless?
Is there something about Vista and dual graphics that i am missing?
The 7600GT functions fine, (tested in another computer) so i am at a loss here.
I got MoBo ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium running Vista Ultimate 32bit on Core 2 Duo Processor. Recently I got another Graphic Card ATI Radeon X1900XTX 512MB PCI-e which I already have one. So, I plan to use the two X1900XTX cards on my system. I already checked the cards but found it has no connection to enable the so-called SLI bridge to connect the two cards.
1. Is there any way for me to use the 2 cards on my PC (crossfire/SLI)?
2. Does the crossfire dongle will make the 2 cards works?
3. Any new tech that enable crossfire with non-SLI cards?
When I remove a memory card (xD, Smart Media, etc.,)from my multi-card reader on my computer after transfering photos to my hard drive, do I need to use the "Safely Remove Hardware" function? How about when I remove a USB Flash Drive after transfering photos? Or is the "Safely Remove Hardware" option just used when removing a USB connected device such as a printer or scanner?::

View 9 Replies View RelatedAt first I had no problems for the last 4 months when I hooked up my new TV to my laptop. I didn't even change any graphic sttings. It worked great right out of the box. I am using a standard VGA-VGA cable. Last week I hooked up my laptop to an old CRT display to do our taxes. I had to play with the graphic settiings for the CRT monitor to look OK.
Now, when I hook up the TV to the laptop, it only has the middle part of the screen showing the desktop. I have played with the Graphic settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get it to look like it did before with the wide screen.
My friend is having a computer issue and I am her computer techie friend trying to help her fix it. I'm in a different city than she is, so sadly I can't see what the problem is, but I am computer savvy enough to know how to gain information from her. The problem: She said that the other day she clicked on a pop up (sounds like a vista-related pop up) that said something about a Hard Drive or Hardware…she wasn't 100% sure. She clicked 'continue' on the pop up and ever since those settings (for whatever it was) went into place, her visual graphic settings have been messed up.
It seems like her wallpaper is streched and larger than before (dosen't all fit on the screen) and her text and such when she surfs the net is larger than normal. She defined it as being "big and strechy". She is using an HP laptop on Vista. We tried messing with Display and Wallpaper settings -- tried all the different options (resolution, etc) and had no luck. Furthermore, we tried a restore….but the restore was unsuccessful. On what is likley an unrelated note (but I'll throw it in anyways), her HP Recovery drive is getting pretty full. She thinks it has something to do with it since it hasn't been like that, but I don't think it relates to the graphics problem. why her desktop background wallpaper is big and strechy and why her text when surfing the internet is so large?
