X-Box 360 Controller Running Turn Off System

Jan 5, 2009

So I have my computer and my X-Box in the same room, and every time I hold down the controller's Guide button my X-box 360 starts running and if I turn off my X-box 360 my controller of course powers down as well, so I have to unplug my X-Box 360 in order to get my controller to connect to my computer when I hold down my guide button, but of course this seems silly, can anyone offer some advise so I don't have to unplug my system to use my controller with Windows?

System Shut Off & Won't Turn Back On

May 23, 2009

I have an HP Pavilion dv6700 or DV6810 as HP refers it to and it won't turn on anymore! My system has 3 gigs of RAM and is an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz. I was originally using Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium System Pack 1 (what it came with the system) and I had upgraded to Vista 64-bit. I am not sure if my problem was caused by my upgrade of Vista or my system being too warm (as I have been using it a lot and it has been getting hot and making loud noises); but after I upgraded to the 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium System Pack 2, I was then going to the upgrade directly from the Windows to the Vista Ultimate which I had purchased earlier (and not got around to update any of it with my schedule)....and after I did this, it asked for me to restart my computer and as soon as I did....poof! It shut off and won't turn back on.

Turn Off The Icons In System Tray

Mar 13, 2008

How do I turn off the icons in the system tray at the bottom right of screen, the number lock, scroll lock and caps lock? When I click on them nothing happens and when I right click on them nothing happens. I have checked the windows start up program in vista, I cant find any thing that remotely comes close to those icons. Why are they there? What do they do? They where there the day my computer arrived and set up and turned on for the first time. Do they take up system resources?

System Running Concurrent Cp/m

Sep 20, 2008

So it has been a very long time since I built a PC from scratch, last machine I built was a CompuPro S-100 system running Concurrent CP/M ! I am building a new box primarily for doing video & photo editing using the new 64 bit versions of Photoshop and Sony Vegas. I have just about finished the physical installation, today I will run the pump for 24 hours to check for leaks and tomorrow I would like to begin setting the box up. Configuration: I have an Armor LCS cabinet w/ CPU and GPU cooling blocks, 750 watt Corsair PS, Intel DX38BT mobo, Q9550 CPU, 8 gig of Kingston 1333 DDR3 ram ( the only one actually recommended for this mobo), 1 Sony & 1 TDK DVD/CD RW drives (ATAPI), 4 Seagate 650gig SATA drives for a raid 5 storage array, 1 150gig SATA Velociraptor for the system, and 1 WD 150 gig SATA Cavier as a scratch drive, an EVGA 8800GT video card ( Vegas does not take advantage of a GPU except for some effects add-on packages ), HP 24" widescreen digital monitor, and Sony 19" analog flat screen monitor, and Full Vista Ultimate package.

Once the Hardware is all installed what NEXT? I have heard that I can only put in 1 stick of memory until the OS is installed then add the others, but even before that what are the steps for configuring the mobo once the power is added? How hard is it to set up the RAID and is the built in RAID controller any good with Vista64? Next the scratch drive currently is full of data from an XP system. The plan is to configure the RAID, move the data I want to the RAID, and then set the drive as the scratch drive, so should I install the scratch drive right away or set-up the RAID first, move the data in using the scratch drive in an external USB cabinet, and then adding the drive back into the system? This is my first Vista install what do I need to know to make it go right? Finally I have a scanner (Epson Perfection 3200 Photo) and printer (Epson 1270 Photo) that do not have drivers specificly listed to support Vista 64. What is involved in doing a dual boot machine and is it worth the hassle or should I just scan and print off of my old XP box? ( Eventually I will upgrade both pieces, but for now I have spent enough on this rig ) I also have a Contour ShuttlePro II input device that currently does not support Vista64, that one I may just have to leave on a shelf for now as it is only useful for Vegas!

Trouble Installing Other OS On System Running

Sep 29, 2009

I am trying to install Windows Server 2003 OS on my desktop which is running Microsoft Vista Home Premium edition. But, it is failing with a blue screen and STOP message (looks like a core dump). I tried many times and it is failing with the same error message. It was able to load all the required files from the CD and lastly it was saying starting Windows and then core dump with a blue screen. I had reformatted my hard disk and tried. It was also failing. I had purchased a new internal hard drive and installed it and still it was failing.

System Running Non-stop For The Last Seven Months

My Dell laptop has been running non-stop for the last seven months. I use it as a desktop, connected to a large monitor. I have a cooling plate. The hard drives shut down after fifteen minutes. My computer buddy says that, since there are no moving parts, then it should be no problem leaving it running. Is this true or false?

System Running At Idle Temps

Oct 26, 2008

My new system was running at idle temps of 46c and under load (2 games and ventrillo running) it was sitting at around 61c @3.1Ghz. Now tempted to go a bit further to see how it will perform. I wanted to get the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreeme but found it difficult to locate from local supplies but with more reading i found that a lot of people also had good reviews with the Zalman 9700 LED HSF setup so i was able to get that and man what a difference it made. I now run my system @3.5Ghz easy with idle temps at 38c and under load at 50c thats a damn vantastic difference it has made. extra rep points from me but i am not sure how to do that

System32 DLLs: Running System File Checker

Sep 6, 2007

It looks like my Media PC restarted while Media Centre was still running and somehow it has corrupted a couple of DLL files.

OLEACC.DLL
WINTRUST.DLL

I have tried running System File Checker, while confirmed that some files were corrupted, but it couldn't fix them. Eventually I worked out how to change the permissions on those files so that I can manually replace them, but can't find a fresh file to replace them with, either on the Vista DVD or on the Net.

Ultimate X64: Turn Off Display, Will Not Turn Back On

Nov 2, 2007

Running Windows Vista Ultimate. Display turns off after about fifteen minutes regardless of whether I am actively using the computer or not. The only way to turn the display back on is to close and then open the lid. This disconnets me from AOL, so I have to sign back on again, and if I was emailing, I might lose my current email. Under Power Options, I have 'Turn off the display' set to Never for both On Battery and Plugged in. Under 'Put the computer to sleep' I have both On battery and Plugged in set to never. Nonetheless, the display still shuts off while I am working. What do I need to do to prevent the display from turning off at odd intervals?

Turn Off Went To Start Turn Off Computer

Aug 27, 2009

I am embarrassed to ask it. Previously I had WindowsXP on my laptop - to turn it off you went to Start, Turn Off Computer. This laptop is using Vista, and I cannot find anything comparable. Last night I turned it off using the off-on button, so got the Windows did not shut off properly message when I turned it on; and I have a "thing" about leaving my computer on overnight. Also, is there a way of hiding all the command bars to "hide" like you can with the taskbar on the bottom?

Coprocessor & SM Bus Controller

Oct 23, 2008

I redid Vista and in my device manager, I'm getting two issues. One is my Coprocessor. It can't find the drivers for this.. Also it's having trouble with the "SM Bus Controller" driver. What exactly can I do to fix these two issues? This is a custom build so I don't have the luxury of having a restore disc or anything like this, which seems to be the common fix for this issue around the net.

X64 Shutdown, Controller

Dec 11, 2007

I recently added a new hard drive to my system to give me a bit more storage room. All drives in the system are SATA, 2x Raptor 36GB, 1 Plextor DVD burner, and the new Samsung 250GB. The Raptors are currently not in a RAID. What occurs during Vista shutdown? It may give me some more insight into my problem.

During shutdown, the new drive gets thrashed for 3-5 minutes before the system drive updates config and shuts down. Could this be some sort of conflict with the controller? Raptors are SATA 150 and the Samsung is 300. Is Vista writing a system restore to that drive at shutdown? (A friend theorized that, and it sounded logical enough)

USB Game Controller

Jan 26, 2010

I've downloaded StepMania onto my computer so that i can play DDR and I have a game pad and a USB converter too so I configured everything and I'm really having no trouble but when i play the computer is reading the arrows as an analog and not separate buttons this really isn't and issue except for when i am holding one arrow down and i press on the other it only reads one making double notes impossible.

so i went into the control pannel, went into game controllers, and it says that it is a 4 axis 16 button joystick and when i go to properties and press the arrows it moves the axes in the direction of whatever arrow i press and only moves one way when I press both arrows...so my prediction was correct...what i can't figure out though is how to program the pad to read as buttons instead of a joystick axes?

Controller Works On Ultimate X64?

I've recently just got vista and was looking forward to some gaming... But alas it looks as though none of my controllers are working. on XP I used to be able to connect my PS3 controller and load up a driver and it would run a dream. I also had a PS2 to PC adapter, but that isn't recognised either. So unless anyone knows any work arounds for these (or maybe some drivers which I haven't found), what is the best controller and/or adapter that will run without any problems on Vista Ultimate 64?

Xbox 360 Controller Can't Access

Jul 4, 2009

I'm completely stumbed at the moment. I have plugged an Xbox 360 Controller to my computer which is decent gaming pc (can play Crysis on High with high fps) with Vista Ultimate 64. Recently i picked up Wanted, Lost Planet and Dead Space. Wanted keeps crashing at start up until I unplugged it and then it started to work. Lost Planet works perfectly fine... Dead space keep crashing at random when its plugged in and I'm using it to play the game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled its drivers countless times and everytime its under "Unknown" in Device Manager. I've unplugged and replugged it many times, I've installed and reinstalled the Xbox 360 accessories software and nothing seems to be fixing this. I've also used CCleaner after uninstalled to clean the registry.

I know it's the controller itself, because when I use Kb/M, I can play for hours without the game crashing. I have read a lame solution, pretty simply its the lazy solution that almost everyone keeps telling me, which to unplug the controller. But I want to use my controller for this game so that solution doesn't cut it for me. Has anyone ever encounter this problem, if so mind sharing you're solution?
