Windows Added Graphics Udpates Today?

Reason that I am asking: Today my one colored screen, which was my favorite old plain windows green, became white. Don't know the reason, I don't recall having changed anything myself. Then I tried to find the reason, and when I went back to the themes, etc., I was able to get back the color but then I notice that the lettering and the graphics is somwaht changed, maybe more modern or streamlined. Has there been an update to Vista Ultimate, what I have, that is causing this?

I shouldn't be surprised but here goes....I checked today for SP1 on windows update.. According to my computer no updates available however updates were last installed on 03/13/08 and yet when you look at installed updates it shows a windows defender update installed today. I have been reading several posts on this problem and have noticed that Carey Frisch posted a link to troubleshoot and now here is a problem and that is none of these apply to me... Once again Go figure!! Running Vista Business 32bit here in the good old USA and of course the English versionVista is and has always been updated right on schedule....

a few hours ago, suddenly when i open wmp and i go to the left side and click the recently added items on the library (music,video,photo...) it says that there are no items that have been added recently. why it says that?

I have just started having problems sending emails, I am receiving my emails with no problems. I have even added the windows mail to be allowed through the firewall. I don't know if there was a windows update that has caused the problem since I have not had problems like this before. A window pops up stating....your server has unexpectedly terminated the connections. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or longer periods of inactivity. Error number 0x800CCCoF. My internet provides say there is no problem on their end and that it must be a firewall problem.

the password problems once done all mail from bt yahoo acct. auto imported into windows mail however today all mail is being recd to yahoo account but not windows i keep getting the following msg.

finally got my little yellow envelope today with my software for using the widows feedback program for 3 months... Another version of Windows Ultimate...both the 32 and 64 bit DVD... at least it was free.. funny thing..... the sleeves each have a unique product key... unlike the retail version I bought...

so my Norton Internet Security expired on my Asus laptop and I uninstalled it and Norton LiveUpdate. My internet worked fine. Then I installed AVG 8.5 antivirus and as soon as I rebooted the machine my internet stopped working. It says "the connection keeps resetting" when I try and get on the internet, and I cannot update the AVG now. I did turn on the Windows Firewall right after restarting, but after turning it back off, I'm still without internet. I'm using a NetGear wireless router connected to a broadband modem.

SP1 turned on system restore without turning on system restore:shock: I don't use system restore and had it turned off prior to SP1. I noticed disc space declining, almost 5gigs since the update. When I checked to see if SP1 turned it back on, it showed that it was still disabled but with a "most recent restore point" dated March 18th! System restore is off but creating restore points?! I turned it back on and turned it off again, which eliminated the existing phantom restore points. This is the only glitch that I've noticed with SP1 on my system thus far, but with "everyone else" having problems, this service pack is without a doubt half-baked. I wonder what other SP1 mysteries await me?

i have a Vista home premium 32 edition.
1. Once by mistake I okayed i to be added as a word in the spell check. Many times I type in i as there is not enough pressure on the shift key. Question - how do I restore my word dictionary to undo i as an incorrect word?
2. My spell check does not pick up small case for the start of a sentence/paragraph? How do I fix that?

When i upgraded my windows xp to vista about 5 days ago it somehow screwed up my computer. My graphics are so bad that i can't play simple games and i know that my graphics card used to work perfectly. I just need to know if it is vista that has changed my graphics card and if it did how can i fix it. Also for Hardware Acceleration, i can not turn it on because i do not have the troubleshoot option in my display settings. My nero will not burn any dvd disc's due to that.

My video card is DirectX 10 ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512mb. The latest
Catalyst driver 8.4 is installed.
But:
Windows Vista 64 "Performance Information and Tools" shows that "Graphics:
Desktop performance for Windows Aero" has 4,8 Subscore and "Gaming graphics:
3D business and gaming graphics performance" has 4,9 which are very low,
that the HD 2600 Pro is the bottleneck of my computer.
Why does Windows Vista score the card so low?
How to improve the performance of the card?

I have a program, Harvard Graphics for Windows, developed by Software Publishing Corp back in the mid-1990's. Some years ago, I installed it on one of my desktops (Windows 2000 Pro platform) without a problem. Recently, I copied the folders onto my desktop with Vista Home Premium . Appropriate drivers (just three) were copied into the Windows and System32 folders. However, at start-up I get to see the logo page, but then a Harvard Graphics error message appears, as follows: "Can't start Harvard Graphics because of a problem with the Windows registration database."I never ran into this when I moved to Windows 2000 from Windows 95. Does anyone know of a way around this? I have many charts that have been developed with this software, and I would like to continue to be able to access the software.

I have a dell 530s slim tower Inspriation desktop. All I want to do is be able to use the Windows Flight Sim Acceleration software. The card that comes with the computer doesn't have enough Horse power. I need a card that would be like a ge Force3 Radeon 8500 or better. The problem is getting a card that will fit in the case and slot. I'm told its a half card or slim profile. What will work? I would rather not spend more than $75. Is this doeable for something realiable. The Flight Sim without loading the Acceleration software that provides carrier ops, pylon racing etc. As I am a retired Marine Corps attack/fighter pilot it would be nice to try these.

I added a second monitor to the GeForce 7100 GS using a DVI-VGA adapter and for the life of me cannot get it to display anything, the monitor is just in sleep mode. I've got the latest driver, Windows is up to date, checked the cables, tried another adapter, tried everything but, still nothing. The second monitor shows up in the device manager and in the Nvidia control panel. It's enabled and set to extend desktops. It seems the system knows it's there because I can move the mouse over, but cannot see anything. The power light on the second monitor just flashes. I've swapped monitors over, to make sure there's not a problem with the display and it's fine. When I do that, the main monitor is then plugged in to the DVI adapter and then that one goes to sleep. Just seems whichever monitor is plugged in to the DVI-VGA adapter just doesn't want to work........

I use a admin account on my computer but when I added standard user account it will not open some web pages for example when I go to my yahoo mail it will show the email but when I click on it, it will not show any text, but when I use the administrator account the web page works fine, I can see and read all emails. Another example is when I go to ask.com and search under the standard user it comes up as a blank page but will show search results under the administrator account. I have windows vista home and 7.0 explorer.

I have 32bit Vista Business and since yesterday there is 4 GB of RAM. Now, I've checked added "BCDEdit /set PAE forceenable" but Task Manager still can see only 3070 MB Physical memora. How to setup Vista to use whole 4 GB RAM?

I've a annoying problem with me pc crashing, it only happens when i play games like call of duty, halo 2, crysis 2.
i'll be playing the game when the screen will freeze with red dotted lines across it for about 45secs then i get this message.

I have a problem with every game I try to play. The main menu and opening credits are always fine. When I enter into game play it looks like im playing the Atari or something. Everything is pixelated and blocky, some shapes wont render and game play is very skippy. I dont have the BEST graphics card but it still shouldn't look the way it is. I have an ATI Radeon x1200. My computer is the Toshiba Satellite A215.

I have a problem, for some reason when im playing games such as cod4 or gta4 or something. Il be playing fine for quite a long time, certainly a few hours but then randomly the screen will just stop, and the whole computer will freeze.
I noticed that on the frozen screen small parts of it had small purple lines going round them.
Well the only way to get out of this is to do a hard boot and start up my pc again.
Im wondering why this happens as i have all up to date drivers and my pc easily meets the requirements to play the games im playing.

Ok well let's begin. My father n law has a HP machine with Vista on it. Ever since he purchased it he when viewing webpage's, the headers and stuff like words overlap each other and it is very hard to read. Now it is not on all webpage's but on most, and it is not the main text. For instance when you log onto EBAY, all the links on the left under Shop Your Favorite Categories are messed up. The clickable words are on top of each other yet spread out a little. Please help me out so we can get this resolved. I tried to adjust the display setting for a larger screen but that did not work. His screen settings are maxed out. I think 1440x900 @ 32 bit. I know this really does not make a whole lot of sense but it is hard to explain.

I receved COD4 for PC from a friend for Christmas. Being completely knew to omputer gaming, I know that my Gateway T-6836 notebook, with integrated Intel graphics, is not suitable for gaming as it is. Can I buy/upgrade to a discrete graphics card and install it in my laptop, or is this not an option?
