Why So Many Ubuntu Retards?

Mar 30, 2008

It seems that people who troll here have nothing better to do. They think Ubuntu is the greatest product since sliced bread. Yet they come here day after day, trying to get people to switch to that inferior product. Ubuntu is for nerds. The reason they come here is they can't use Ubuntu so they do the next best thing. Come to the vista group and try to get people to convert. Most people are smart enough to see through all that crap. People want to use their Windows Vista or Windows XP. They don't need or want some stupid piece of crap like Ubuntu.

Ubuntu - Final Word: Ubuntu Has A Clear Right Of Existence In It's Area

Apr 29, 2008

the main audience is "Vista" users. People who already spent a lot of money for an operating system, which they do want to use now. Ubuntu has a clear right of existence in it's area, but not in this group. If you like it better, fine. But don't try to spread your "religion" here when someone asks for help about a Vista problem.

Vista And Ubuntu?

Feb 23, 2009

Without trying to create controversy, but simply with the desire to use both
OS's on the same machine:

Installed: Dell motivated Vista Home Premium, SP1, 32 bit.

Capacity: Dual core Inspiron & 300GB HD, w. MS Virual PC (39MB, I believe),
290 GB C: w. Vista installed and 10 GB D: for recovery.

My question is: can I safely install ubuntu, v.7.10, in the virtual pc, with
the intention to dual boot?

Ubuntu Under The Spotlight

Oct 7, 2009

Ubuntu, it is generally well known, as being behind Windows Vista or 7 in the sales department, possibly on a scale of about 50-1. Normally, sales indicate popularity on a product. We can also assume from these figures that volume of sales could also indicate a certain quality of that product.

Therefore, on that assumption, the 50-1 deficit that Ubuntu lags behind in the sales department, is possibly not even the 2nd best nor even the 3rd or 4th best OS come to think of it. I therefore pondered on this question. Why on earth should I settle for second best, let alone third or fourth best? If they can afford it, most people in life want the best. That is why I will be buying Windows 7 this month...........

ALIAS & UBUNTU TWO-FACES

Oct 3, 2009

Alias is quite a two face. Shame on the corporations making money, while he yachts it away on monies made installing Ubuntu. ITN News: MADRID - Air pollution has long been a fact of life in Spanish cities, but scientists now say it is not just smog that chokes people as they walk to work or stroll through the park. A new study has found the air in Madrid and Barcelona is also laced with atleast five drugs - most prominently cocaine.

The Superior Council of Scientific Investigations, a government institute, said on its Web site Thursday that in addition to cocaine, they found trace amounts of amphetamines, opiates, cannabinoids and lysergic acid - a relative of LSD - in two air-quality control stations, one in each cities. With the amount of WEED Alias smokes and the drugs in the air, Alias' brain has been fried. No wonder why Ubuntu does well in Spain, they are too stoned to know any better. My mom has recently returned from France & Spain, and is not too impressed. Homeless, poor and one woman tried to snatch my mom's purse in daylight. Congratulations Alias. Yours is a truly developed country.

Didn't Hit F11 Soon Enough To Boot From The Ubuntu CD

Aug 4, 2009

I just had a motherboard go south on an AthlonXP 2200+ machine. So, I removed the hard drive thinking I would have to reinstall Ubuntu on its new machine, an AthlonXP 3000+ machine with a different video card, MB, NIC in a different PCI slot and a fax modem in a different PCI slot. So, I fired up the computer and didn't hit F11 soon enough to boot from the Ubuntu CD and much to my surprise, Ubuntu loaded as if nothing had happened.

Ubuntu 8.04 What A Piece Of Junk

Apr 30, 2008

I thought I would download the new Ubuntu 8.04 and give it a try because all the Ubuntu nut jobs were saying how cool Ubuntu is with their new release. I installed Ubuntu on my machine. I tried Open Office Spreadsheet. I thought I would try to enter a Macro then run it. I then had to install Java to be able to run a macro. If I didn't know that I needed to use Synaptic to figure out how to get the Java update, I would be screwed along with many others who try this crap. Just FYI

OK, so Java installs. BFD. It works but it isn't that good. Now, lets play some music. I navigated to bobrivers.com to play a tune. I was prompted to install some more updates. Fine. Did that. The install went OK. Then I had to install a couple more updates. That went fine. Now I clicked on the song to play and the page just froze.

No wonder why Ubuntu is such a piece of crap. Can't play a simple tune from a web page. Now in Vista, I could navigate right to the page, play the song and I would be as happy as a clam in a whorehouse.

Can I Run Basic +Win2000+Ubuntu?

Apr 5, 2009

Is it possible? If so, how do I do it? I probably need detailed instructions, although I am an experienced computer (my career) and Windows person. (3.1 on up).I have a new Dell Vostro 220 with Home preinstalled. No Vista DVD; just the recovery DVD and partition.I am presently running Vista Home Basic, with Ubuntu 8.10 running as a program under Vista.I no longer run Win 2000 because I wanted to try just Vista. However, Vista won't install and/or run all my old programs (even after adjusting for oldness) and I miss many of them, such as PSP6 and others. Therefore I want to run a triple boot system, so I can:

(a) Use Vista and later Windows 7 if it is better.
(b) Continue to play with Ubuntu. (I mainly use the games.)
(c) Use my old pgms (mostly gfx) with Win2000.

Can I do this? Or is there a better, still free, way? I live on Social Security, so I can't upgrade many/any old pgms. I am happy with my oldsters (I'm old too; I'll be 70 in less than 2 weeks) and I want to use them as they are if possible.

Dual Booting With Ubuntu

Mar 23, 2008

I have been playing with Ubuntu guest virtual machine on Vista host.I am toying with the idea of dual booting and installing it properly. Can I run an Ubuntu Live CD on a Vista machine (to check whether all my hardware is compatible, etc) without it affecting my Vista installation in any way ? As I understand it, I will just be booting from the CD without putting anything on my hard disk at all.But I would seek assurance that it really isn't going to do me any harm.

If I decide that my hardware is OK (its a fairly high spec machine running Vista Ultimate 64 bit) what is the best way to go about it? I have a 750Gb disk which I reckon I can afford to give 200Gb to Ubuntu. Should I repartition from windows? Do I need another program (if so what?) or does Windows itself handle this? How do I install Ubuntu but still retain control over which operating system I want to run? Vista will still be my main OS. I don't particularly want ubuntu to have control of the booting process.....

Stop Mentioning UBUNTU

Jun 12, 2009

Frank the Monkey, Suck-a-Bus, and another Vista boyfriend: FYI, best Linux for busienss is not Ubuntu, you're tareting an inferior flavor of Linux and then generalize your assumption over all Linux families.

1. MS admits Linux is a threat. A bad OS is not treated as threat unless it's really useful. Many Servers, inlcuding my websites host GoDaddy.com (world's LARGEST registrar and 2 in Hosting) offer either Linux or Windows host. I chose Windows, don't get me wrong - I love to Win but w/o my suggestions bugs & childish approach to business computing would never be FIXED! My rants ar read by MS development teams, they clean up rant from facts, they react. They sometimes FIX things. I don't write just here, but also directly to MS suggestions box Not to mentioned embedded OS's where Linux is a real player.

2. Best Linux in my opinion, for BUSINESS, is SUSE Linux distributed by NIVELL NETWORKS.

Ubuntu Is MUCH Easier To Install Than Windows?

Jun 4, 2008

My hard drive went south so I had to reinstall Ubuntu. I timed it and it took exactly one hour to install Ubuntu, download and install 124 updates, all the programs I use and tweaking Compiz Fusion to my liking. Windows XP, OTOH, on the same drive, took DAYS to finish.

Ubuntu - Part 2: Compiz Fusion

Mar 28, 2009

{url}
...."there's this video on Internet. it's all about the new "eye candy" in
windows and ubuntu. in the first part of the video, the unseen
demonstrator shows-off windows vista aero, including some of the more
talked-about ui effects (flip3d, live task bar thumbnails, etc.). in the
second part, they show ubuntu with compiz fusion enabled. the
demonstrator shows how the "compiz-ified" ubuntu windows warp and bend;
how they can be stretched and deformed; how they can be configured to
seemingly "burn-up" in a in a flash of virtual smoke and fire.

the whole demo takes place against the backdrop of a pulsing bit of
techno beat ("lyrical gangsta?"), making for a decidedly surreal
experience. it's ubuntu with compiz fusion enabled - a.k.a. linux on crack.

of course, like most attempts by the linux community to parrot windows
vista, the aforementioned "eye candy showdown" misses the forest for the
trees. yes, vista includes some new ui effects and animations. however,
unlike linux and the whole compiz fusion head trip, the effects in vista
serve a practical purpose: to clarify the basic functions of the user
interface. moreover, the effects themselves are the product of many
months of research and usability studies about how users interact with
guis in a production environment...."
