View 7 RepliesI've copied and pasted into my email many times. Now when I attempt this, the whole email program shuts down. I can copy and paste from another email in the program, but if I try to from a text doc or Word doc etc. the email program shuts down and I lose everything that was in the particular email I was writing.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWindows Explorer had been working fine but now it won't (1) resize to full screen, (2) paste any file anywhere or allow me to drag and drop files. This latter one also won't work on my desktop. What gives? Can I uninstall Windows Explorer and reinstall? Will the 'recovery disks' that came with the computer allow this to happen?
Also, I have a file I want to inspect, a CBS.log file, and it says I need the administrator permission to do this. How do I obtain this. I'm no dummy when it comes to computers but I cannot figure this one out on Vista.
I have a data D: drive, as well as my C: drive. Due to my D: drive being totally empty, I sometimes use it to store long files, such as movie files (music videos, TV programs, etc...). So, this is my question: Could I reproduce or copy in some way those lovely Vista special glass Icons, so I can have a Videos Icon, or a pictures Icon on my Data drive as well? Is there any way this can be done?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using remote desktop to have access to our company server. I
work away from the office but access letters and other information from our
server. I usually copy and paste letters from remote desktop into my email
(been doing it for last 2 years) and send information to my clients. NOW no
go! I am terribly frustrated that I can't do this anymore as it has
extremely added time on to a schedule that can't afford to spend a lot of
time on this. Please ...... I need a fix for this problem before I huck my
computer out the window! PS this started last week. Months after I had
installed Windows Live (which I don't use anyway).
I know this is very basic, but I seem to have forgotten how to do it. I have never been able to copy and paste and address or anything because: when I select something I want to copy, then I click edit, or copy, or I click where I want to paste it, or I click anything else; it unselects what I have selected. So, if something is not selected you can't do anything with it, but if you click what you want to do with it- it is no longer selected??

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that I am unable to copy and paste a font. The computer that has the font runs Vista 64 bit. Have tried right-clicking and the Organize function. When I try, the Copy function is present but when I attempt to paste to another location on the same computer so that I can eventually email the font as an attachment, the Paste function is grayed out. Tried it on a friend's computer and her situation is the same. Her computer is also Vista 64 bit. On my computer, I am the Administrator and sole user.
View 5 Replies View RelatedUsing SimpleOCR I scanned text. I wanted to email it and save it to Documents. The SimpleOCR scan had no provision to send it, so I saved it to Desktop, and it saved in Open Office (I have MS Works and Open Office but I don't know why it saved to Open Office since I usually Works for word processing). The saved scan I rightclicked Copy. When I tried to Paste in Hotmail email, I clicked the dark Paste but it did not paste. When I copied and tried to paste the scan to a Works word processing page, the Paste option was grey and I couldn't paste it there either. How can I copy and paste a Simple OCR scan?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI can not move, copy and paste OR cut and past files from folder to folder anywhere (desktop -> folder on desktop, my docs -> random folder, etc).
I am the sole user of this machine and my account is in the administrators group. I have tried taking ownership of the files and folders and it still does not work.
I have searched and searched and can not find a working solution to this problem.
I an running Vista Ultimate 32 Bit SP1 and have not installed any new applications that would cause this type of issue.
I am running Vista Home, and when i go to copy music file from my windows media player, to say a sd card (have checked the card, seems fine), it will copy some files, but say 6Gb of music will take around 24 hrs. yup thats what i said, 24 hrs and sometimes it will give me an error code: 0x80070570. Does anyone know why this is doing it? I have tried to go into the F8 Feature, on startup, but i do not have the restore option.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a lot of problems with my vista. As of a couple of days ago, I'm no longer able to copy/paste or drag and drop with ease. For example, to drag and drop a browser window I drag the window but need to left click my mouse to release it. It’s the same thing if I am scrolling a page. When I try to copy paste, it’s the same sort of thing, but a little "Accelerator" icon appears and gives me the option to search the word in google. It also doesn't "highlight" the word or phrase properly, and has become a pain to try to make it stick (if that makes any sense).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have always put the "Copy" and "Paste" buttons on my toolbar for quick access. Now, in Vista, I can't even find a button for either function. How do I get these buttons/icons back into my Toolbars? Now I have to actually go to the "Edit" Menu, or use the Right-Mouse Button Menu, to do what used to be a simple one-click operation. Drag-and-Drop has never worked well. Sometimes it will work and other times it seems to just drop the files wherever it wants. Then I have to go on a manual search to recover them. What happened to the ability to "Customize" the Toolbars? The Customizing of Toolbars has been removed from Vista, except for a "Limited" selection, which someone decided to leave available.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Office Home & Student on a new machine with Vista and found that I can no longer copy an Excel chart and past it in the message space in Mail. I could do this with no problem using Office 2002 - XP and Vista. Is the problem with Vista or with Office 2007? I have already changed the registry to allow direct e-mail from Word and Excel to Mail (by-passing the requirement to have Outlook), but this doesn't seem to be related to that silly feature.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been looking for a better screenshot device/program, and I came upon this SnagIt8. My problem is after capturing the image and pasting it to a wordpad or equivalent, I couldn't find a way to copy/paste to a post like this one. The Paste was always grayed out when I tried to paste it here. Either that, or I would have an empty box with a red X at the top. I can't use the paperclip icon either, because people who clicked the link would be asked to join something before they could see the screenshot.

I simply want to change the display names of the files to colors such as BLUE, GREY, etc., just like I can do on the MAC O/S for the past 5 years.
I do NOT want to use any third party software file managers. There must be a way to do it in Windows since APPLE has been doing it for 60 months now. I can't believe that Windows STILL Cannot perform this simple task! If you have a working solution using Windows Explorer please email me and let me know.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI wasn't quite sure if IE8 was the culprit, but it became apparent once I removed it. Internet Explorer 8 interferes with the functionality in Windows Explorer for Vista. Say for example: With IE8 installed, open up "Computer". Close it, then open it again. It should be instantaneous. But its not. A window will take over to 10 seconds to show its initial contents. Once its open though, its very fast because the instance is already running. But once it closes it will take another 10 seconds to open again. Internet Explorer 8 itself opens up very slowly even after the first opening. Can any Vista users verify this?
1. Install IE8
2. Go: Start > click Computer
3. Close that Window.
4. Repeat step 2.
Is it an instantaneous opening or does the window take more than 5 seconds to populate? Repeat those steps with opening Internet Explorer. Is it the same? If so, welcome to the club. Does Microsoft have any way to report this bug to developers?

View 5 Replies View RelatedVaio Laptop that was in desperate need of a wipe and reinstall. Unfortunately she didn't know where her Vaio's copy of Windows Vista Premium was. While I was at my campus bookstore, I asked them if they had a copy of just the media itself as I already had my sister's Vaio license. They sold me a copy of the Ultimate version for $20 or $40 dollars, I don't remember how much exactly. I knew that the Ultimate version had all the versions, including the Premium version my sister had a license for. I used Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to look up her license which I e-mailed to myself. I reinstalled Vista which installed as the Premium version, just as I expected. Five to six hours later I had everything set up. I thought everything was activated and working just fine. I was wrong.
And now a week later, my sister brings me her laptop and complains herbackground is gone. The operating system had reverted itself to its limited "Illegal State". Frustrated and not wanting to spend another five hours redoing it all, I tried using the license that came on the back of the CD that I got at my campus bookstore which Windows refused. It won't allow me to upgrade to Ultimate either. What is my best solution at this point? Will Microsoft support me in this? Can I get a disc replacement from Vaio? The last thing we want to do is have to buy another license. I don't know if if its okay to use the license that came on the back of my Ultimate disc either.
