I have a new computer with Vista 64bit installed. My old computer is XP. The problem I have is with my Outlook Calendar and Contacts. I exported my calender and contacts has a pst to my external HD. I tried to import the files to my Outlook to the new computer, excess denied, you do not have permission. How do I give permission to excess these files. The old Office is 2003 and the new is Office 2007.
View 5 RepliesI am trying to transfer files from my old computer hard drive using an usb 2.0 enclosure. My new computer is running Vista, the old hard drive is running xp. When I plugged it in, my computer sees it as a mass storage device, but I cannot access nor see any files on the old hard drive. I'm getting kinda frustrated, I tried to link the two computers via ethernet that didn't work. My old computer has motherboard issues and the usb ports don't work. And it will not burn dvds it errors out, so I couldn't transfer my info that way. Am I doing something wrong here? Can someone give me some advise?

I decided to use Windows Easy Transfer and for the most part it was easy except for Outlook. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to a new pc with vista and windows mail from Xp & outlook express (with virgin). To save my files and emails etc I used windows easy transfer software and copied the files to an external hard drive and then loaded it to the new PC. I initially had problems as my modem didn't install but virgin sent me a wireless connector and all seemed OK. However, when I click on send/receive mail I get an error message 'some errors occured while processing the requsted tasks - please see details below.' But there are no details! I have 3 email addresses.
If I click on the little arrow next to send/rec and then click on each email separately there is no problem. Equally, if I click on 'receive all' there is no problem. When I click on send/rec the first time I open windows mail there is no problem, but thereafter always the error message. I've had Virgin remotely controlling the pc for 90 minutes and they can't suss it!
Also, bizarrely at the top of the page it says inbox - outlook express provided by virgin net even though I appear to be running windows mail (it certainly isn't the usual outlook I have on my old pc). Did I inadvertently load outlook as well as my emails on top of windows mail and they've kind of merged?
I am attempting to transfer files & settings using the Belkin Easy Transfer cable from an XP computer to a Vista computer. All starts well by showing that the two computers are connected. But after finding the files and settings and providing the amount of data to be transferred, it starts gathering information but then shows a flashing disconnection icon in the upper right of both computers' transfer windows and freezes. This happens at a different place each time, but early in the procedure (after about 10 minutes). Would anyone have any advice? I have done everything by the book, as far as I'm aware.

I had my work email (Exchange Server) configured within my outlook and it worked fine until lastweek. It just stopped working and I thought I'll try and reset outlook and try and re-configure but then everything went really wrong.
I deleted all the Pst and ost files, deleted the old profile and created a new one.I configured a new profile and configured the exchange server settings and tried to start outlook but now it only gives me an error saying .... "cannot open default email folder. you must connect to microsoft exchange with current profile before you can synchronize with your offline folder file".. (see the screenshots)................

Both computers are connected in a home network. All my emails and address book are in Outlook 2003 outlook.pst file. How do I bring that outlook.pst (2003) into Outlook 2007, so that I could have all my emails and address book in Outlook 2007? Right now in my Outlook 2007 my address book is practically blank.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up in the morning, I have to wait 20 to 30 mins before Outlook 07 will connect to my Exchange 2003 server. Until then, when I try to open Outlook it says, cannot open the default e-mail folders. And it suggests there is a network issue or that the Exchange server is down. These are not the case. The Exchange server is up and there are no network issues. I have many other computers attached to the network and none of them have this issue. Some our XP Pro/Office 07, some are XP Pro/Office 2003. The big difference with my machine is that it is Vista.
After about 20 to 30 minutes, wow! it connects! And then it's good for the rest of the day. I usually only minimize Outlook after I actually get it open so the connection is maintained throughout the day. I'm not sure what would happen if I closed it completely. But one thing is for sure, every morning, it takes 20 to 30 minutes before it will connect. Eventually, it always connects.
Actually, I am not very good at iPod stuff and I always make a mess up about my iTunes and iPod. But now it is very easy for me to do with my iTunes and iPod, I can easily transfer data between my iPod nano and iPhone, backup my iPod data in my computer and put songs and videos from my computer to my iPod/iPhone without iTunes.

I have a HP desktop running Vista premium. I "had" an Emachine that ran XP, but it died. (I think the power supply went out) Whatever the case I am not going to get the XP computer fixed, but I do want some files off the old harddrive out of it. How do I do that? I'm hearing of a USB adapter of some sort that will do it...is that true? I went on Ebay, saw some USB's but am not sure they will do what I need for them to do.
