Spinning Hat Software Not Familiar
Mar 23, 2008
Listed in my problem reports and solutions, are two names. One is Spinning Hat software and abcPager, that are apparently the source of a problem of which I am not familiar with. Not only do I not know the the problem itself, but Spinning Hat software and abcPager are alien to me. I have done a search for these two names with zero results.

Download Vista Glazz, patch the files, download a theme, extract it to Windows > Resources > Themes. I've done that, but no theme shows up, only the default ones. Browsing for it doesn't help either. Sorry if I'm not being very clear. But I guess all I'm asking for is a little tutorial so I can change the theme. Where to extract, where each file should be, etc.

it seems as though my CPU enjoys spinning up to 100% load. I'm not entirely sure why. It might be because I have an old CPU and motherboard (Athlon 64 3700+, which is, of course, single core and an Asus A8N-32 SLI Deluxe) but it never happened with XP Pro (unless I was doing something super intensive).
So, here's the deal: it sounds like something is spinning up but it's not my hard drives. Could it be the chip fan? It happens when I'm playing video games and, more recently, when I've been loading something even moderately graphics intense on the internets (I use Firefox 3.0.10, which has been crashing a bit lately, but that's not the issue here, hehe). Could it be the graphics card? Though I don't see why that would put a huge load on my CPU. (The card is an nVidia 8800 GT.)
There doesn't seem to be anyone one process that is causing this; the processes with the massive load change while whatever it is is spinning and the CPU is at 100% load.

How can I prevent the DVD drive pinning up each time when NOT in use?? In configuration I have already disabled all auto run options! Or is the only remedy taking out the disk each time?

I have 8 SATA drives (4 in a PCI Promise SATA controller and 4 in the motherboard controller) in my Vista Ultimate 64, and I would like to keep them spinned down most the time. I use power saving but only the PCI drives are shutting down after x minutes, the motherboard drives are still on. In windows XP worked fine. I also noticed that when I delete a file, the drives spin up again. Could be any windows service interfering? I have all the hardware drivers well updated.

I am having trouble with my laptop it's a toshiba a100 32 bit with vista home premium. I don't know much about computers and am generally pretty chilled out when it comes to resolving issues with them but this is REALLY making me lose my cool.
About a month ago my computer started crashing regularly and eventually i couldn't even log on after the welcome screen. it just sat there spinning and would eventually freeze. After reading a few forums i found a post which said to do a system recovery but i don't have a disk and then i found something that said i need to make a disk but can't for the life of me fugure out how to do that.
i tried 'last known good configuration' and finally passed the welcome screen to find that i had a fake security centre virus. I installed Norton 360 and it got rid of the virus but the computer still crashes regularly. I also ran a memory diagnostic and that was okay. I checked details in the event viewer and the only critical one was:...

Maybe if she spends 5 hours investigating the problem, runs 14 different cryptic line commands, she might be able to get the spinning cube. Feisty: Where is my spinning cube desktop? I installed Feisty. Enabled the nvidia driver and desktops effects. I got the floppy windows and no spinning cube? How do I get my spinning cube? I tried switching desktops but nothing happens I can't even switch desktops. Also I don't even have floppy windows in KDE just gnome.

I reinstalled vista recently and now when i press restart ~ from the start bar ~ the pc will do all the operations needed as in quit applications, shut down windows and then it's just black screen and fans spinning. Someone gave me a solution to this but it wasn't temporary. Everytime i was shutting down the pc, it was doing the same thing when i was restarting. Now it happens the same thing even when i shut it down. So everytime i shut down/restart my pc i have to wait till windows shuts down and then press the button on my case.
