I've tried to install Maya2010 on my Laptop (HP Pavillion DV7, Vista 64bit) and i got a registry error. when i try to edit the registry to change the permissions this is what i got. even if i edit it as administrator i also got this problem.

I do not believe I should pay $60 for help from the people who are responsible for this fiasco. Toshiba will not help with this. Microsoft tells me my PID was entered wrong.....I copied it right off the computer. Am I at the end of the trail here - should I just throw the darn computer out the window? It is a 2007 Toshiba A215 -S4757 laptop.....hardly

First time I got a message saying that I should have administrator rights to uninstall this software (which I have) and then, there is no message appearing but the software won't uninstall. However programs i already had on my hdd install fine. I have not yet had time to test a 64 bit native app to see if it installs fine, but all the programs i try and fail to run once downloaded are on the compatibility list.

i have downloaded a crappy ms office mondo 2010 from lan and installed it.also there were some installation errors. i am not able to use ppt/word.... hence when i tried to unistall it ,through control pannel, it is saying "corrupted,insert original dvd/cd ". but i have installed it by poweriso. now i want to remove that msoffice and get some office07. so what should i do now to uninstall it. i have tried many times,every time it says "this product installation has been corrupted.insert original dvd/cd......."
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung netbook with Windows 7 starter edition, 250GB HD and 1MB of RAM. I purchased it with a trial version of Office Home and Student which has expired. I am a public sector employee which entitles me to a discount on Microsoft Office Professional 2010 which I have downloaded and installed after unistalling Home and Student 2007 using the Programs and Features in Control Panel.
Now, when I open Excel 2010, if I make a new file and save it, it works fine. But when I try to open an Excel file from Office 2007 or 2003, it will open but if I try to change the file or save it as an Office 2010 file, excel stops working and shuts down. Windows has no solutions to this problem. I have checked for updates, but all that windows update offers are updates for the 2007 version of Office.
About two years ago, I purchased Microsoft Home and Student 2007 along with Microsoft Outlook 2007 for my Dell computer running Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit). Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to upgrade to Version 2010 for these programs? I am a single user, at home small office - would such an upgrade yield any significant benefits?

Basically I was hacked by vista antispyware 2010 a couple of times and its really messed up my laptop. I got it to go away by using safe mode then the nrmal mode but I'm sure it's still there. It's made "open with" come up everytime i use a program and grayed out the default option. It won't let me use anything but internet explorer giving me the message "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set associations control panel." I tried to attempt a system restore but "open with" comes up and i dont know which program to use for this.

It has no stationery at all & the only wizard I've found thus far is the envelope wizard. Office 2007 was bad enough with its plethora of already-written forms and hardly any decent smart-looking templates for business or personal letters, but this one has none at all, meaning not even one.
Generally I see little difference from Office 2007 except a much plainer "look". Which isn't always a good thing. Perhaps I'm being impatient. I only installed it 5 minutes ago but do NOT like it, sorry!!

I just uninstalled BitDefender Internet Security 2009 in order to upgrade to BDIS 2010. I used their uninstall tool, rebooted, then rebooted again choosing a clean boot so I could install BDIS 2010. When I got to the end it wouldn't let me activate. The message was "activation failed because no internet connectioin was detected. Please connect and try again." Now BD says they are aware of the problem and are working on it.
However, since I installed BDIS 2010 a lot of other things have stopped working. Windows Explorer, my snipping tool, when I try to take a screen shot and paste it into paint it says "information on the clip board can't be inserted into paint." I'm also continuously getting the message that IE8 is not working and is being shut down by DEP. I don't know what else might not be working. BitDefender, naturally, has turned off their chat support. Does anyone know what could be causing all this stuff not to work?

My NIS 2010 runs out in 15 days, and instead of paying them $60 for another year I'm wondering if it's safe enough to just use MSE and the built in firewall.I never had any complaints with norton, it worked great, never noticed it at all, but I just can't justify spending $60 for something is MSE is at least or even almost as good.I haven't seen many independent tests of MSE,while I know that Norton is one of the best at detection and removal.

A Visa Internet security 2010 window popups, where Firewall and Malware are off and it tells me that I have to buy a subscription to get rid of the problem. It apparently detects 28 trojan... programs. I ran Avast and another anti-virus program. They did detect some trojan programs but did not find the cause of the infection. I'm using the free Open Office program - word processing mostly at this time. Is there anything in the list below that is of importance? I only have a basic PC with DVD player for movies, etc. No scanner, printer or fax. Not even external hard drive or usb flash drive. Otherwise, I understand that I can just choose to hide the updates, so it will not keep reminding me. Also, I choose to keep my OS w/ Srvce pk 1 and MS IE version 7 for as long as I'll be able to. I had too many probs with Srvce pk 2 and MS IE version 8. Your opinion, if any, is welcome.......

In trying to install Java 6 u18 I started getting the message. THIS ACTION ONLY VALID FOR PRODUCTS CURRENTLY INSTALLED At that point Java, which had always worked, stopped working. After reading this forum I downloaded the Windows Install Cleanup and removed the Java 6 u18 from the list of installed products.
Java does not appear in the Control Panel under Programs, the registry has no Java 6.18 remnants I can see and Java does not appear in the Windows Install Cleanup list. Yet when I re-download Java, as soon as the install starts it says
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with 4gb of Ram and 200 GB of free space. I have installed Vista Business 64, and added recommended patches. It also has Office 2007. I am trynig to install SQL server 2008 express. A prereq for this is the 4.5 installer. Whenever I run the install I get two messages: Setup Error, Not enough storage is available to process this command. Then "Installation did not complete" In the application log the Event ID is 4373. I have space, ram, I am logged in as an administrator, and it is a clean build.

I have a new HP computer and recently every time I boot up the computer, a windows installer window pops-up and tried to install a program (it doesn't state the program name) but stops at the stage when it searches for an installation CD, as I don't have the computer's installation CD (the computer comes with no installation CD and all installation info is backed-up in the secured drive D). However, considering efficiency and reliability, would I be better off downloading the standalone installer (using another faster connection elsewhere) and bringing the download on a flash drive to my computer? Is this standalone installer much bigger, containing irrelevant stuff, than what Windows Update would eventually supply me with (since I'm current with all previous updates)?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit on a custom built PC (Info at bottom). The problem is that there was an issues with the PC and some OS files were corrupted causing problems with Vista. I have tried to load the vista install boot DVD to do a system restore or a clean install of vista but for some reason it cannot boot from the dvd drive. Now i have tried everything i can think of. I have changed the priorities of the boot devices so it boots the DVD drive first however it seems to just ignore it. the drive powers up and reads and whatnot but it doesnt boot the cd it just loads from the HD.
When i remove all the boot list items and leave just the DVD drive as the boot option i get a screen saying insert boot media/disk and press any key to continue. Upon doing that the message just appears again. I have checked the hardware. everythings connected properly and tightly. I even stripped the system down to only the Mobo, CPU, Video Card, HD and dvd drive are in and still nothing. I have installed Vista from this cd on another machine and on 2 different hard drives in this machine in the past. 1 install was about a week ago. i have even tried using a windows XP boot disk and still it doesnt boot from the dvd drive. The DVD drive works perfectly with no problems when the OS is running. I can read and burn cd/dvd and play music and games on it. Recognizes it as a vista install disk as well when the os is running.....

My PC runs Vista Home Premium and has not caused me many problems since I sorted out the installation issues. However since I installed Roxio Creator 2009 a month or so ago I have had lots of problems. I am now troubled by a Windows Installer problem. When I start up I get a series of messages flagging up starting with "preparing to install" followed by "please wait whilst windows configures the destination" then by "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternative path to a path containing the installation package'status m s i' in the box below" the box below contains a file name as follows "c:user ALANSM~1AppDatalocal emp7zs9ED" This series of messages keeps repeating for 5 or more times every time I cancel it. I thought it may have been caused by Roxio so I tried to uninstall. Roxio would not uninstall however. The wizard starts but then I get a message saying "setup encountered an error during installation 'Error Code 04C7" then the wizard shuts down leaving Roxio intact.
