How do I setup my Fax functionality as one of my printer. I have a land line connected to my dial up modem on my desktop and I would like to receive and send faxes through my desktop running Vista Ultimate. Can you direct to a web site maybe where I can get the step by step instructions in setting it up.

Have Vista Ultimate installed and installed a Fax modem. Set it up using the Windows Fax and Scan program. Am able to send but have not been able to receive any faxes even though it shows Hello, Ringing- The call was answered as a fax-Receiving page1. Goes on forever like this without receiving the message.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a Zonet ZFM5621MT fax modem for $10 because I need to send faxes via my computer. My old fax machine finally broke. However, I cannot figure out how to send faxes through this damn thing. I thought I would just send the document to a fax/printer driver using the "Print" command, but there's no fax modem device under "Printers". When I looked in the Control Panel under "Phone and Modem Options", the computer does not detect a modem. When I powered up my computer after installing the modem into a PCI slot, Vista reports that it had successfully installed the driver for the hardware (it didn't specify what kind of hardware though, but I figure it must be the fax modem since it was the only new thing that I installed). I also manually downloaded the fax modem driver from Zonet (the manufacturer), and I installed it. It also reports that the driver had been successfully installed. However, I still don't see any modem under Device Manager or in the Control Panel.

I have been trying to send faxes like I used to but it keeps saying line undetetced or something like that. I know I have dial tone there as I tested it. I run the modem query and it works on the conaxant V92 fax modem side, but then when I do it on just the modem side, it won't work. Im not sure if this modem

All of a sudden my windows mail quit working. I can send but not receive. I get no error messages and it seems to be cycling thru from connecting to disconnect. All it says is "no new mail". Been using the att web mail to get my messages that has been taken over by Yahoo and is a major pain in the butt to share with 3 family members. I have uninstalled Norton 360, unchecked the secure box and run all kinds of registry error fixes. Still won't work.

setting up windows mail on new hard drive and can't seem to figure out how to get it right. I am using a live.com email adress. I have already tried getting rid of antivirus stuff and fiddling around with security things. Under PROPERTIES: Servers neither box is checked Incoming or Outgoing for authentication. Under ADVANCED: Outgoing mail port number is 25 and Incoming Mail at 995 both boxes are checked for requiring a secure connection.
I'm having problems with Windows Mail, I can send mail but can't receive any. I've talked to my provider, they tell me that my set up is fine, but they don't know what's wrong. I'm getting error message of 0x800ccc0f. I've even tried other mail programs, like Thunderbird and Outlook. They don't work either and are giving me the same error message. I'm using a cable connection and haven't had this problem before, until a bought a new computer with Vista. The first day or two, my emails worked great, did not change any settings nor added any programs. Then all of a sudden, started getting the error messages. The only way that I can view my mail is to go to my providers web site and use web mail, which is a pain. I'm just about ready to junk vista and go back to Windows XP. at least, I didn't have problems like this.

There are no error messages, just outbound email sits in the outbox going nowhere and nothing is incoming despite having test emails sent. I also cannot read the sent items folder - it says Folder could not be displayed Windows mail could not open this folder. Possible causes are low disk space low memory. I know this is not the case. I do have several photographs on some of the emails outgoing lately.
