Sending Faxes Via Pc

Sep 18, 2009

At work we are wanting to send and receive faxes with our PC , we have no idea where to start or what we need. we have Vista basic so we have no fax and scan software so we need that too (recommendations)? we are currently connected to the internet via a broadband modem. i understand we need a fax modem? to connect to the phone line? will that connect along with our current broadband router? we are buying a printer/scanner/copier , we also want to be able to scan and fax documents using that but im assuming the software will take care of that? I am very computer savvy so you dont need to be too gentle Just point us in the right direction , ive done some googling but im very short on time today

Zonet Fax Modem: How To Send Faxes

Jan 20, 2009

I bought a Zonet ZFM5621MT fax modem for $10 because I need to send faxes via my computer. My old fax machine finally broke. However, I cannot figure out how to send faxes through this damn thing. I thought I would just send the document to a fax/printer driver using the "Print" command, but there's no fax modem device under "Printers". When I looked in the Control Panel under "Phone and Modem Options", the computer does not detect a modem. When I powered up my computer after installing the modem into a PCI slot, Vista reports that it had successfully installed the driver for the hardware (it didn't specify what kind of hardware though, but I figure it must be the fax modem since it was the only new thing that I installed). I also manually downloaded the fax modem driver from Zonet (the manufacturer), and I installed it. It also reports that the driver had been successfully installed. However, I still don't see any modem under Device Manager or in the Control Panel.

Modem Wont Send Faxes

Apr 8, 2009

it might be that I have a DELL modem, but I took that out of my old DELL 8400 and installed it in my new build. I have been trying to send faxes like I used to but it keeps saying line undetetced or something like that. I know I have dial tone there as I tested it. I run the modem query and it works on the conaxant V92 fax modem side, but then when I do it on just the modem side, it won't work. Im not sure if this modem
is Vista Compatible and don't know how to check it.

More Problems Sending

May 28, 2008

I recently signed up for a googlemail account, and can receive e-mails OK -
and sometimes when I send them it has worked, but now when I click on
"Send/Receive" it only checks the incoming mail and doesn't connect to the
outgoing server at all. The messages stay in my Outbox, and then when I
close Windows Mail I get a message asking whether I want to send them using
my default connection, I click "Yes", but it doesn't happen.

Sending Mail

Mar 23, 2008

I can receive mail using Windows Mail, but not send - I get the following
error:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: hello from Oz',
Account: 'Ruth Egerton', Server: 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10013, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

The account details are exactly as on my previous (Windows XP) laptop, so
I'm confident that is not the problem.

Windows Mail options tell me that Windows Mail is NOT the default mail
handler, but clicking the "Make Default" button has no apparent effect.
Running "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" from Control Panel, I am
told that the default e-mail program is the current e-mail program, and am
not given any way of setting it to Windows Mail (or even told what program
Windows thinks IS the default).

I have MS Office 97 installed, but did not install Outlook. I saw somewhere
that Office thinks Outlook is the default mail program, whether it's there or
not.

Email Not Sending

Sep 9, 2009

Since yesterday a.m., I can't send emails using Windows Mail. I can receive, just can't send. Getting "The connection to the server has failed. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" error message. I can send using the webmail application, but not Windows Mail. I am using AVG and have tried uninstalling. No luck. Tried reinstalling without email scanning. No luck. I've changed my outgoing port to 587. No luck. I've checked "outgoing server requires authentication". No luck. Called ISP and they say it is a Windows Mail issue.

Sending And Recieving Yet Again

May 10, 2008

I've noticed almost a dozen or so threads about this problem in the last 24 hours, this tells me something is screwed up, somewhere along the line, and Ive got similar problems, mail stuck in outbox mostly attachments of pictures, and it refuses to go, and I keep getting error messages. I've a hotmail account, and it worked with Outlook 2003 fine until a few weeks back, then slowly things started going wrong, and mail was not getting sent, I tried deleting and creating the account, but time after time, the same persistant problems arose....

I then removed Outlook, and Outlook connector, as all of a sudden my send and recieve tabs dissapeared, re-installed, and re created my account, and the send and recieve tabs never came back......bummer....I've searched online for soloutions, and never found one!...................

Windows Mail- Not Sending

Jun 6, 2008

I have recently purchased a new computer (Dell Inspiron ) running Windows desktop home premium. I transferred everything over from the old computer to the new and everything works splendidly, except Windows Mail. I am not for sure if this problem surfaced after a short period of using my new computer or if this was there from the get-go, but I cannot get my Windows mail to send. It receives just fine, on all accounts and sends fine on all accounts but my main one. I have a mail server with my domain hosting service and every time I attempt to send mail through this account I get the Windows security box that says logon to my mail server. I typed in username and password, click okay, and wait. The box pops back up and says logon again. Apparently for some reason it's not accepting my user name and password. I've gone through all the settings with tech support, including using the various ports they recommend. Still no go. I don't know what else I can do, I don't even know where the problem is emanating from, all I know is I cannot send my e-mail using my primary account.

VISTA FAX Sending Issues

Feb 6, 2009

Of the three situations where faxes can be sent using Vista Fax & Scan, two do not work for me. I am using VISTA Business. The situations are:

A/ In trying to forward a fax.

Details:

1) I open Vista Fax & Scan
2) I open a fax within the "Inbox".
3) I then select "Forward as a Fax".
4) In the "To" window I enter a phone number in the format
xxx-xxx-xxxx.
5) I put some text in the message sectionessage
6) I then click on "send".

I get an error message that says "The message could not be sent. The
parameter is incorrect."

B/ In trying to originate a Fax from within Vista Fax & Scan.

1) I open Vista Fax & Scan
2) I click on "New Fax"
3) I fill in the subject
4) I enter the phone number in the " To" window in the format
xxx-xxx-xxxx.

5) I put some text in the message section.
6) I click on "send"

I get an error message that says: "The message could not be sent. The
data is invalid."

Note: The third way of sending a FAX is from the a document
(File/print/fax). This I am able to do. For example, if I create a
document in Word, and from the "Print" menu I select "fax", what
appears to be the VISTA FAX & Scan send-screen opens, and I fill it in
as above and send without difficulty.

Receive E-mails But Not Sending

Mar 24, 2008

My anti-virus is McAfee. I am able to receive e-mails but not sending them. I called my internet provider and they said the settings were fine and maybe something was blocking out-going e-mail. They asked me to contact McAfee, but all I got was on-line support which did a scan and said everything was fine. I still can't send e-mail. additional infos : I have a Google gmail account and I used it to send an e-mail to myself at my Windows Mail account. The e-mail was sent out OK. So, is that McAfee's problem or Windows Mail's problem?
