Everytime I'm playing a game or I log back on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5610Z, SP1 Vista Home Premium).
I get this message:
Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working
I do not know why I get this.
And for the love of god I DO NOT HAVE "NERO" on my laptop because people say nero causes it.
I have been living with rundll32 errors for a while on my video files, I upgraded from xp to vista. It has not caused any real problems. However a few months ago I seemed to lost ability to deal with windows personalization. Can not change anything in windows color, theme or icon's said admin had turned off.. I was logged in as admin. I could live with this also as I could change my background and had set the colors to what I liked.
Well now things are worse two days ago the rundll32 errors started to happen a lot, Firefox crashed completely, would not run.. windows problem reporting told me to upgrade would crash with rundll32 error. My recyle bin went away, and can not replace, change icon's causes rundll32 error. Yesterday vista would no start.. took two times of repairing with upgrade disk and now seems to be fine. Went to cmd.com in run to do a file check. got the error NTVDM.exe and command com will not load. NOw in personalize change color get rundll32 error. Checked event log they all seem to be the same error....
I am on windows vista sp1 home premium, and I often get a problem saying rundll32 has stopped working. I googled and found out that this is often caused due to nero's codecs which interfere with vista, but I have neither nero nor roxio installed, except that I use the latest version of vista codec pack. I just checked out by disabling startup services in msconfig and rebooting each time, but it's all the same every time, the problem just keeps repeating. I often get the problem on resuming from standby.
Can anybody recommend a solution? BTW, i am on an HP Pavilion dvt6846tx. Problem log from "Problem Reports and Solutions":Product Windows host process (Rundll32)

I recently installed VistaGlazz on Homex86 SP1.. and I went ahead and patched my rundll file through vistaglazz.. the whole time forgetting vistaglazz does not support SP1. My problem is this: when I open Task Scheduler, I get 53 pop-up error messages that various scheduled tasks no longer exist, and to get them back click on refresh. When I click on refresh, I get the same pop-up that it no longer exists. I identified all the folders that have the pop-up error messages, checked in
c:WindowsSystem32TasksMicrosoftWindows and then opened one of the folders that's generating the error message and verified that the file named in the task that is failing is indeed there. I went back into Task Scheduler and attempted to import the task, and then it tells me, "An error has occurred for task. Error Message. A task or folder with this name already exists." Someone's advice was then to just delete the
task. Why would I do that? These are default Windows tasks and I'm having problems with Windows Calendar's alerts not working, and I believe it's coming from the fact that Window's default tasks "no longer exist", even though they do! Can anyone stear me in the right direction? I've been all over the Internet for answers.
I am getting this error...seems to occur pretty randomly. Just reinstalled Vista twice (clean). Each time going from clean install to Vista HP SP1. Error seems to change a bit each time.

i have a big problem with my computer... most of the times i open a program i get a error... like missing .dll or application error. i am on vista 32 bit. some of the problems are.. when i open control pannel, my computer or anything with windows explorer. it just closes and windows explorer crashes. i have tried to run chkdsk and errors appeared but i couldnt fix them.

About two months ago I was sometimes prevented from opening photo attachments on some emails received from the same party and sometimes could open them. By this I mean, I would click on the paperclip where a list of photos would appear and I'd click on on photo and I'd get a message saying: "Windows cannot find file name (photo captions used by sender).jpg. Make sure your typed the name correctly and then try again." Well, of course I didn't type the file name; the sender did. I could click on the save attachments, and once saved to a folder I could open them from the folder. I forwarded the mail to others, and they report no problems in viewing the photos. I can also view the photos in the email itself, but it would be necessary to scan up and down and from left to right to view the whold photo and the caption would not appear.

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen I go to the update, it asks me to check for an update after that it asks me to update windows vista update. when I go to download the windows vista update it errors me. I have had a read through the update logs, and the error code I am getting is : 0x800b0001. A quick google lead me to belive that this was a problem with cryptographic service provider: Error code when you try to use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates: "0x800B0001". anyway, I tried both of the fixes listed on the page and to no avail. When I tried the software fix, it proceeds to the update, but just pauses about 75% in. when I tried the registering .dll option, the .dll registered but the computer still does not update.

I checked firewall and antivirus settings, i tried to bypass firewall, but problem persist. I changed from DHCP to Fixed IP, i changed DNS, but none. I also tried from Firefox / Chrome, same problem. Apparently the site is resolved from DNS but then not reachable. The tracert command shows that the request expire immediately, so it seems that the
request remains local and is not forwarded outside from my PC....
I've another PC, Windows XP Pro SP3, IE7 (also this dhcp reserved), it's joined in the same domain, so same dchp - dns - gateway and firewall rules...., same problem. This PC is a dual boot with Debian 5, so i tried to boot in linux and surprise...with Firefox that website opens immediately...and the tracert command shows that it is reachable among 4 nodes.... In linux the dhcp and the ip released is the same as XP....so it points to same default gateway and dns.....

I am trying to set up a network between my desktop computer (OS WindowsXP SP2) and my HP Pavilion dv6690ej laptop (OS Vista Home Premium Hebrew edition). Both computers use the Windows Firewall. The router is the Siemens SL2-141 Modem router. The desktop computer is connected to the router through a Lan connection while the laptop is connected by a wireless connection.
The problem: Both computers are configured to have the same workgroup: MSHOME. While the WindowsXP computer recognizes the folders in the laptop (Vista), and can open the folders and files, the laptop recognizes the existence of the logical drives and folders in the desktop, but does not allow to open them, giving a message (freely translated from Hebrew): "There is no possibility to access the drives or folders in the XP desktop because maybe you do not have permission do so. Contact to the Network manager(?) to see if you have an access permission. There is not enough storage? to operate this process"
Frequently I can't open Windows Mail. I discovered that it's still running in the background under Processes but it's not showing in Applications. The only way I can open Mail is the shut down WinMail.exe in processes. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this or is it just one of those glitches that Vista has? This only started happening a few months ago.

I had just installed Warhammer Online and everything was going well. The following day after i had finished gaming i logged off. From there i was about to click the little red shut down button but it was unclickable. After some time i just released the battery from the back. To see if everything was ok i tried turning it on again and it said Windows Error Recovery. It gave me 2 options, Startup Repair Which was recommended and normal startup. I clicked startup repair but when i did the screen went black and brought me straight back to Windows Error Recovery. No matter how many times i click repair it doesnt work. If i click normal start it just Brings me to the screen where it says Microsoft and there a little green bar flashing over and back as if loading. After some time it goes black and i have to remove battery to turn it off.
