Can Recieve Email, But Cannot Send Email
Mar 23, 2008i have checked to be sure the settings are entered correctly & still
cannot send messages.
i have a laptop connected to the same wireless router & it works fine,
but it is using outlook.

Email Link Does Not Got To Correct Post On Forum
Jun 29, 2008When I get an email for a new forum post, the hypertext looks like this... 'NEFGA :: View topic - Going to unread forum posts' But when I click the link, what shows up in the browser is - 'NEFGA :: View topic - Going to unread forum posts' Instead of taking me to the post for that message, it takes me to the top of the page the post is on. Why is the 65341 being dropped off.If tried clicking on the same hypertext in other applications such as Word and do not have the same problem.I'm using Firefox.

I spent hours with Mediacom who provides the cable modem and service and they gave up as well as Linksys for the router. I get internet with no problem and gave up on the whole thing for a week. Then I plugged everything back in and it worked fine for a week. Now it is back to the no send email error. I did notice if I plug directly into the cable modem it would work fine for a while.But seemed to go back to the problems.

Jul 20, 2009I recently had a power failure whilst working on my PC - I restarted it - but started getting problems - I have put both C and D drives through the Check Disk Utility. To all intends iand purposes the Pc appears to be workin, except:
1. The Mouse pointer has the `working in the background`i.e.the revolving circle which goes on for 5 secs then off for 1 sec and back to 5 secs etc.I have tried changing the pointer but to no avail.
2. I can not delete anything in the C/ directorory Program Files.
No Response When CTRL-ALT-DELETE
May 6, 2008I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with Service Pack 1. I have Norton 360 installed as well as Windows Defender. Norton and Defender run at different times on different days. All of my e-mail is scanned before it is installed on my computer. There are no known viruses on my computer. A few days ago I noticed that my CPU would average nearly 80 to 90 percent. When I pressed ALT-CTRL-DELETE it would not respond. I ran taskmgr from the command line to see what processes were running. Nothing out of the ordinary was running.
I did see explorer.exe maxing at 50 percent at times. I read a few comments about this issue and one response was to delete ( I normally rename) vdmdbg.dll When I tried to do this I would get access denied. I did attempt to change the ownership but was unable to. I also changed my login process to require ctrl-alt-delete. When I did that it still would not accept it. I ran the login screen utility to allow me to enter the ctrl-alt-delete from the gui which did work.
Response Link Not Working
Mar 7, 2009When I post a question on a newsgroup and get an email stating that I have a response and I click on the "read and rate the response" link I get a new Internet Explorer window that remains blank. It also has the word "Done" in the lower left corner. Does anyone know why? Is this a new problem in Vista? They seem to keep poping up.

The subject in the error message is differnt depending on what I'm replying too, but the error code is always the same. I called support at my ISP and after about 2 hours of troubleshooting he told me the problem was with my mail client. I am running Trend Micro virus scan but I get the error message even when it's disabled. If I compose a message from scratch and send it, things work fine. It's only when replying to emails that I have the probem.
Very Long Response Of System After Rightclick
Nov 3, 2009This problem have been bugging me for about a year now. Whenever I bring up a new window (where you can browse for files), when opening, saving or importing something into the applications, so when I rightclick anywhere (the space, the folders or files), it just hangs for a minute (sometimes longer), while I see an hourglass-mouse-cursor, and I can't do anything about that window. I can tab to other programs, though. Sometimes there is also the same delay, when I right-click an icon (of an application that does not exist) on my Quick Launch bar. I have tried different applications, like ShellX, ShellMenuView and ProcMon. I've also tried removing some keys in regedit, to get rid of the extra rightclick options (like Winrar).

Apr 23, 2009Clicking screensaver, or any other constituents of Personalization, brings no response. The "hand" icon doesn't do anything regardless of which item it is pointed at. Very frustrating as I particularly seek to review my screensaver choices already installed.

Apr 16, 2009I need some assistance. I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop that runs Vista Home Edition. Whenver I boot up and try to open a program or application, it takes a really REALLY long time for it to open. For example, whenever I try to open Firefox or Internet Explorer or even my control panel, the window will open and will be blank. Then it will start to load but either take an enormous amount of time or, after I've become tired of waiting, I'll try to exit and it will say (Not Responding). Now eventually this goes away and the window does close, but like I said, it takes a ton of time trying to open and close these things up. If I do wait it out and I do get into my Internet Explorer or Mozilla, any links that I click or addresses that I type, it again, takes forever. I've run a deep system scan with my Anti-Virus software and came up with nothing. I did a system restore to a point where the problem was not happening and, again, nothing.

Apr 5, 2008Since I installed SP1 for Vista HP 64x I can no longer access my external hard drive/media player.
When I connect it via USB I get a message saying I need USB to IDE drivers. Windows then offers to search the internet etc but cannot find any. As a result Vista cannot see the drive and I am prevented from accessing nearly 300GB of my photos, music and movies.
This is a personal disaster. My best photographic work is on that drive.
I have had the drive for about a year and it worked perfectly before SP1. It's sold by a firm called Envizage but I believe they are just importers.
I contacted them and they replied that no drivers are required for Vista.
I was not even aware there was an IDE drive in there but I believe it is a 400GB Samsung. Can't check now obviously.

Feb 14, 2009since I have had Windows Vista on my computer I can post a message somedays and not others. For some reason I have to press 'POST MESSAGE' several times before it will open the message session. I thought at 1st it may have been the forum itself but went in there today and used my laptoop with Windows XP and was able to leave a message staight away. Is there something I need to do to my computer to allow me into forums?

Jan 23, 2010do not appear on the NG in Windows Live Mail on my computer. It was OK previously. I have unsubscribed the NG and then subscribed again. But still the same problem. But I see the msgs in the Sent Items folder. Tried sending thru:microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
but still the same thing. I do not see the post in the NG, but it is there in the Sent Items folder. In both above cases, the posts can be seen in Google Groups from whereI have no choice but to post from. MY NGs may be corrupted.
Cant Boot To Post
Mar 23, 2008just plugged in a usb exterior drive to do a new backup, then power light flashed a few times then PC rebooted but it freezes before the post beep.I have cleared the CMOS but no go are we talking motherboard do you think?
