Burned DVDs Can Not Burner

Feb 15, 2009

I am not computer-wise. I have brand new HP laptop with Vista Home Premium. I am new to Vista. I burned two DVDs that will play on my computers, but not on any stand-alone player. Exploring the discs, I see they are lacking the folder AUDIO_TS, which I thought was mandatory even though empty. 1. Am I right to infer that this is the problem? 2. How do I fix it? (I believe the discs were burned with Windows DVD Maker product version 6.0.6000.16386). 3. If this is the wrong tack to pursue, what questions should I be asking?

Acronis Backups Burned To DVDs Won't Recognize

Oct 20, 2008

I use Acronis True Image 11 for backing up, all from the bootable CD, I don't have Acronis installed. After creating an image I verify it with Acronis. I also like to burn the image to DVDs and verify them on DVD also. When I burn them to DVDs with Vista, Acronis wont recognize them to verify or restore. If I burn them with Nero Acronis will verify them and can restore them. Any images burned to DVDs would already have been verified while on the HD before burning to DVDs. Any body know what the difference is between burning them with Nero verses Vista in relation to Acronis not recognizing the images burned to DVDs by Vista?

Only Reading SOME Files On XP Burned DVD?!

Apr 30, 2008

This is the strangest thing I've seen. Burned a DVD ROM of pics and videos on my laptop (Inspiron 9300) running some form of DLA Software and it worked just fine. I can read them just fine on my laptop. Stick them into a vista machine and the disc reads but 1/2 the files are gone and it's consistent - not a disc read error - There are no videos - there are missing pictures. It's as if the VISTA drivers are incomplete... anyone hear of this symptomology and have a fix?

Burned Vista Disk Slipstream SP1 Using Vlite

Jun 3, 2008

bxIHA.4848@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl> I've burned a new Vista Ultimate install disk slipstreamed with SP1 using Vlite. However...it will only perform a clean install, and not an upgrade on the existing Home Premium with SP1. I want to ?upgrade to Vista Ultimate. Running install with the slipstreamed Vista Ultimate w/SP1 I get these statements: "Upgrade has been Disabled" The upgrade cannot be started. To upgrade cancel install, then choose to upgrade to a version that is more recent than currently running" Is it because my current Vista Home Premium w/SP1 has been upgraded to the latest updates? And the slipstreamed DVD files are older, even with the downloaded SP1 files from Microsoft?

Can Not CD Burner

Jan 24, 2009

I am using an audio editor called WaveLab Essential 6. When I create a CD Montage of songs and try to WRITE to CD, it opens up the WRITE CD dialogue box and shows my device as Optiarc DVD/RW AD-7580A. Everything seems fine until I choose to WRITE. At that point, it shows that the CD creation progress is 100% and says that the CD was created successfully. The elapsed time shows 5 seconds and Saved Data shows 52.12 MB (5'9'' of audio). The real problem here is that the CD is still blank and nothing was recorded on it. Can anyone recommend a solution to get this CD Burner to actually write? It works fine in Media Player. I am using Windows Vista, Intel Pentium Dual Core, 3 Gigs, the CD drive is listed above.

CD/DVD Burner Disappeared

Mar 23, 2008

I bought a new ASUS M51SN laptop last month running Windows Vista. I have subsequently loaded MS Office 2003, Skype, Norton SystemWorks and NERO8. I recently upgraded Vista with SP1, Nero, Skype and Norton to their latest versions and the ASUS Bios to 304. While I had a number of software problems prior to these upgrades, I placed my faith in the Vista upgrade, but am still left with a number of irritating problems.

My DVD burner has disappeared from Windows and Norton while Nero is still happy to test it (Diskspeed). The device manager says everything is good, but I cannot see the DVD in either Windows Explorer or My Computer. In the event log, I can see that the unit has encountered a number of bad block events, as well as a number of errors during a paging operation...............

DVD Burner Won't Working

Jun 2, 2008

I insert a blank DVD and the computer won't even recognize that there is a disk in the drive. I've used these blank DVD's to burn movies on several other computers, and those DVD's that have movies on them, from the exact same stack of blank DVD's open up and play the movie perfectly, it's only the blank DVD's that are not being recognized...... This is really frusterating.....

The device is a SONY CDRWDVD CRX3102 SCSI CdRom Device it will recognize blank CD's but not BLANK DVD's..... I swear I've burnt DVD's using this drive before, but now it's not working.... am I crazy? or just stupid? What am I doing wrong.

What Dvd Burner Works In X64?

Mar 12, 2009

Most posts want advice on how to resolve an issue with existing hardware or software. I'm asking for advice on what to buy to avoid any issues. I need a SATA DVD burner for my new x64 build. So far I just have the case, power supply, and processor. In my wish list is the RAM, MB, HD, and OS. Each has been verified to at least "work" with x64 Vista according to the MS compatibility list. Now I'm looking for a DVD burner that some of you existing x64 users have installed and like.

DVD Burner Has Stopped Working

Jun 30, 2008

I'm using Vista Home Premium and over the past year have burned approx 100 DVDs without any problems using Roxio and Windows. I started having problems with burns being successful till finally every time I tried to burn a DVD it failed and I wasted a blank. The DVD drive itself works fine so I reformatted Windows in an attempt to remedy what I thought was a software problem to no avail. Every time I attempt to burn a DVD, no matter which method I try, the burn fails.

How To Rip Just Audio From DVDs?

Is there a way to rip just the audio from DVDs? I have a few live concerts on DVDs, and I would just like to listen to the audio of them all on my MP3 player. Transferring the whole contents of the DVDs would take up way too much storage on my MP3 player. Can Windows Media Player do this?

DVDs Not Playing

Sep 9, 2009

I recently upgraded to Vista 32bit service pack 2. I held off because of a problem I was having with service pack 1 (as I am about to explain), but I thought service pack 2 may have fixed the problem. However, it hasn't.

When I try to play a DVD through Windows Media Center it is just all fuzzy and static. You can see the picture moving, but it's so fuzzy and pixelated that it's impossible to actually make anything out. When I play through Media Player, the picture is just black. The sound is working fine in both programs.

I downloaded a program called VLC media player, and that plays the DVDs just fine, so does this mean that it is a problem with codecs? I'm not too sure, hence why I'm asking here on how to fix the problem. Obviously I could just keep using this new VLC player, but I prefer using Media Center.

Save Old DVDs To Computer

Nov 14, 2009

I had some of my old family movie reels put onto DVDs.
I read that they need to be re-burned every few years to keep them from
deteriorating.

When I look at them with Windows Explorer, there is a folder = VIDEO_TS,
that contains files with extensions = BUP, IFO, VOB.

Can I save them on my computer then later re-burn them to DVDs for storage?
