I linked AOL to Vista Windows Mail as a IMAP file and got an error "XAOL-UAS-MB failed". So I switched to POP3 and it works. However, the email is deleted from AOL
and moved to Windows Mail. How can I keep it in both places?
I don't want windows live mail as my default email account. I wen to Set Default Programs. I'm unable to uncheck marks on MAIL-TO PROTOCOL and EMAIL-LINK START MENU LINK. how can I fix that through REGEDIT.

Ever since I use Vista and Windows Mail, people tell me that the link does not work. Either nothing happens when they click on the link or the error msg is that the link is out-of-date (Often I copy & paste the info from a message I have sitting in Draft, since I sent standard msgs to my customers).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a problem with my Windows Mail, all of the sudden I could not get my mail to show up in the inbox so I signed up for Windows Live Mail to see if I could just export everything to it but it did not work. I now have a Windows Live import box stuck on my Desktop that I cannot get rid of and I cannot get into my Windows Mail anymore. The windows live is working well but I just want to get to my old e-mails and my contacts , is this possible?

After checking a few threads here, I checked the defaults and set associations and was able to fix that. My problem now is that when I click a mailto link it only opens Windows
Mail and not a new message with the email address and subject (as Outlook does when I use it in Win XP).

I have never had trouble opening them before. So? I looked at another e-mail that had a pdf/adobe file attached and the same thing happened.

Spent several hours on phone with Verizon, only to find they have no resolution and recommended I contact Microsoft. Have deleted the user account several times, rebooted the system, disabled AVG virus software. Can ping to the incoming server but not the outgoing server. after installing automatic updates:ie8, winmail, Vista sp2, error message " command failed to execute" when attempting to open any type of attachment. only work around found is to save the attachment to a different folder then open. This is very annoying, it is un-believeable that MS would sabotage their own products with updates that DONT WORK, and I would expect a MS fix soon.

Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. Just a few minutes ago I was transfering music from my hard drive to my external hard drive, while on the internet looking at videos. I noticed that the file transfer process was taking a while so i decided to cancel the process. Some error message popped up after a while, being stupid I didn't write them down and kept watching my videos. My desktop disappeared and i cou;dn't start task manager so i decided to restart my computer... When I restarted I was greeted with "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2. Choose your language settings and click next.
3. Click "repair your computer"
It also gives me the following options:
4. Safe Mode
5. Safe Mode with networking
6. Safe Mode with Command Prompt
7. Last known good configuration
8. Start Windows normally
When I restart booting from the reinstall dvd from dell and i get to the repair my computer part, vista isn't listed in the options to repair. And I can't browse my main hard drive. Also when I start into safe mode, all the driver load then I get a quick flash of a blue screen which says(i video tapped it then slowed it down to read the message): A problem has been detected and windows[COLOR=#05408F ! important][COLOR=#05408F ! important][/COLOR][/COLOR] has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.........
