DNS Client Service Disabled? HP Network Devices Support?
Mar 19, 2009Reviewing Services on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit machine I noticed that the DNS Client is disabled? I have a wireless router configured to the laptop and to the printer and have for some times been experiencing disconnection problems to the laptop and loosing the printer connectivity completely until I unplug the router, wait, and plug it back in--which will restore connectivity until the next time.
Shouldn't the DNS Client be enabled? Also noticed in Services I found HP Network Devices Support is set to Automatic (Delayed Start). Could this be what is causing the printer (C7280 All-in-One) to write so many (hundreds in days) .log entries in
WindowsTemp?
Installing SP2: Is Preparation Protocol For Vista's SP2?
Jun 9, 2009update on Presario laptop, which came pre-loaded with V-SP1. When XP-SP2 came out it was very important to do a bit of prep before installing the service pack: cleaning the system, turning off AV and running progs, etc. Doing so always insured an incident free process and it worked dozens of times for me. Is there a preparation protocol for Vista's SP2?

Mar 12, 2009i have tried to correct the windows mail challenge I am having on Vista. I found an old post and it suggested going into control panel and looking to see what the MailTo protocol is. It does not exist and that may be the challenge. I have checked for defaults and Windows mail and IE have all defaults set. I then looked for the windows mail protocol. It does not exist. I see windows mail in the far right on a couple of items but no protocol. Could this be because I put Office 07 in along with 03. It didn't work. I had hoped to have both available. 03 for now work and 07 to leisurely learn all the changes. I took 07 out and had to reinstall 03. That all works but email link embedded into a link tells me my mail client is not properly installed. I have a thread further down, but it is not being answered and so I am probably in trouble for starting a new one. How do I get the protocol in there?

Out of interest I got a domain name with godaddy.com and found that not only could I not connect with their ftp client but I could not connect with three other external ones. Since the faster hard drives (SSDs) are typically quite small, like 8 GB, when in my house I think it would be cool to use the netbooks as Thin Clients and the desktop as a server. Apr 15, 2008I've the following problem when attempting to export a e-mail client certificate. The associated private key is marked as not exportable? This happens after installing the certificate regardless the authority. I tried:
- Verisign: They don't know
- CaCert" tried to teach me the procedure I know already but does not work.
- Thawte They don't know
- Commodo: they don't know.

As far as that goes, everything is fine except receiving sent mail. I get no error messages when sending. I can send to AOL and it arrives. When I send to gmail, it never arrives and yet there is no error message. After weeks of trying that is the end result. The other problem is that when Windows Mail takes my AOL mail it does not leave a copy at AOL. As a result, all AOL mail is currently stored in Windows Mail, which is the only way I can access it. Thus my question: Is it possible to some how return my AOL mail back to AOL from Windows Mail?

Dec 26, 20081. I have a total of three acct, two regular accts and one full admin acct. I have the same email client in each of these accts. If, while in admin acct, I delete the email acct within (via control panel), will the email client be deleted in my other two accts?

A lot of my friends who still have XP are able to use remote desktop and tunneling services easily, where as I am unable to on my Vista machine.
