4% Free On Drive C : How Free Up Space Make Computer Perform Best
Apr 8, 2009I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop computer. HP Total Care Advisor tells me only 4% is free on drive C. I ran disk defragmentation, disk cleanup, and uninstalled a good amount of programs I no longer use. It did not do anything. Once and awhile I get a prompt in the bottom right corner saying that I have low disk space. When I click on it it wants to run disk cleanup which does absolutely nothing. How do I free up space and make my computer perform the best it can?

Mar 23, 2008I may have missed something but I thought that MS would be releasing it to the masses in March. I keep looking at MS Download page and running Windows Update and hile there are "tips" on downloading, I can't find the file.

Sep 1, 2009I have I tunes on both the laptop with WindowsXP and on the newly acquired Desktop, HP Q 8200 with Vista 64. For the latter I have downloaded the latest recommended version for Vista64, but even though I can see the imported and saved ( on an external hard drive) play list I can not play them. When I click on them on this new Vista 64 empowered Desktop, nothing happens.When I click on Beethoven folder ( which contains many creations by composer) I can see nothing in the right panel regarding the overture, for example.
On the laptop I have exactly the same play list and all works fine there. Any Stable Video Card For Vista64??
Jul 6, 2008I need to find a reliable and stable video card for Vista64. I've been using an ASUS nvidia 8800 GTX for over a year and it really sux ...since i installed Vista 64Ultimate its getting worse. My first issue with it, was a power supply compatibility issue with my Antec 1000W power source when not recognizing the power it gets and the nvidia sentinel down-clocking the GPU ... now in Vista64 i have lot's of BSoD's, driver crashes and recovers, etc... I assumed they would eventially get the drivers right, but no luck yet.
My last BSoD it' regarding nvlddmkm.sys (0x00000116) which, from what i read on forums doesn't have a fix till now and can be also encountered with nvidia 9800 cards. So can anyone recommend a video card that its tested (ATI or Nvidia) and it runs smooth with a Vista64 system, with no major driver issues or BSOD's? PS I forgot to mention that i need a card suitable for most of the 3D games as WoW, AoC, Crysis with nice fps. My system is:
Vista64 Ultimate SP1: Validation Required
Apr 2, 2008I'm running Vista64 ultimate SP1 and had to reactive a month or two ago because of hardware changes. Tonight I flashed my bios (only thing I did) and I was notified I had to activate Vista again! It took about 20min last time... what a pain in the arse.
I decided to attempt an online reactivation and low and behold Vista reactivated? How could this be? I installed once with the key. The second time I had to call Microsoft (in India I think) and the third validation was OK online? I don't know if this has happed to others but I thought I'd share my weird experience with the latest and greatest Micro$oft product.
X-Fi XtremeMusic Card Is Not Fully Working Under Vista64
Jul 30, 2008I really getting tired of Creativelabs. I'm currently using a X-Fi XtremeMusic card which is not fully working under Vista64. I refuse to buy a X-Fi2 just to use features that should be enabled in the X-Fi card I already own. Vista has been out long enough for Creativelabs to get their act togther. In a nut shell I'm done with Creativelabs! I've always bought their products but that officially ends now.
I'm looking at HT Omega's cards. I'm a cusual gamer mainly playing EverQuest 2. How does HT Omega's card do for games like EQ2 and is the quality of drivers better than Creativelabs? I'm just trying to get some user infor before I spend $$$$$ on a new sound card.
Boostspeed Any Good?
Jan 10, 2008Right contstantly the computer is usting between 80 and 85 % without me doing anything, except typing here. Diskeeper 2008, Outlook consume alot of memory, Search Index, Svchost (some 10 different system programs), etc. So i need more Ram. But at the same time i was thinking of buying "Boostspeed" or a program like that to clear memory, so a shutdown is not needed every day. Anyone familiar with this kind of program?

Apr 23, 2008Im ready to plunge into vista 64/32. My system is up to date 6600 quad cpu, 8 gig, 8800GT (soon to be sli) and yada, yada. I play alot of BF2 mods, RTS (currently playing world in conflict), Crysis and COD4. My worries are drivers and game patches. I would like to go Vista 64, but is 64 good for games? I know I will get hit with frame rate, but hopefully playable frame rate.

Mar 18, 2008This is how it went.
1. Had to do windows update three times before it got them all. I had just done the other day the updates for march. The first update had 8 updates in it. Update number two had one update in it. Update number three had one update in it.
2. Had to do the WGA and did pass.
3. Then the SP1 update showed up in the Window Updates and started the download. Size was about 175.mb.
4. Had to reboot after the install. During windows shut down it stop to do some more installing of the SP1 update. It has 3 stages.
A. Stage one went somewhat fast.
B. Stage two went real slow up to about 12% then went fast and stop and stalled at 100% for some time.
C. Never seen Stage three.
5. Os rebooted and during the restart of windows just before the desktop shows up it started installing Stage three and went somewhat fast. After the desktop came on they was a lot of hard drive activity.
6. The first thing that I seen is that AVG did not restart. I just started it my self and all was good.
Things I seen after install and reboot.
I now have this icon in the lower right about some Customer Experience program that want's to run but you have to say yes to turn it on.
Under the Device manager I now have an error under Built-in-Infrared Device. ( No big deal)
Under the Task manager my Processes came back up to 54 and memory is running at 50% up from what I had it dwon to, 41 processes running & Physical Memory is 33% so it looks as if it went back in and turned some things back on or added some things.
I will have to google all the processes to find what is what.
So far this is all I have seen but then have not been running the SP1 but just a few. I will post as I find more things good or bad. I figure it will take a few reboots and some system maintenance to get the boot back up to par.

Mar 11, 2009I saw the demo video and it looks like just an interface that assists "computer newbies" to work internet related items. Does it offer anything unique? Is it worth installing? Because I remeber it used to put a lot of background tasks that do all sorts of things. I know computers are more powerful nowadays but does it still noticably clog up your task manager?

Good Idea To Go From 32 Bit Vista To 64 Bit?
Dec 2, 2007I thought i'd give 64 bit a try, what a bad decision it's terrible. I've had nother but blue screeens and other problems with it.
Think i'll revert back to the good old trustworthy 32 bit, never had any problems with it.

Apr 5, 2008best / good drive imager? I have Acronis 11 TI, but it started hanging on me yesterday under Vista. it always hangs for 40 secs or so running standalone. I tried Paragon Drive Backup 8.51, it imaged okay but wanted 2 hrs plus to restore 5gb *Acribuis tajes 8 min) - I guess It's using PIO1... (did not send them a note).
I tried rtt r-drive image and it imaged fine but I couldn't boot the damn Linux CD even with bios sata set to IDE/disa/legacy. (sent them a note) Tried casper but it images 1:1 and I don't have the HD capacity at the moment (sata 160 and IDE 80) and prefer the compressed images that I can put to DVD occasionally if I so choose (and I do) Latest PQDI on torrent is 7 which is flagged as Vista non-compatable anyway
(I didn't try it).
I used to use ghost but a while back when I upgraded, the boot cd caused a bluescreen because it wanted to call home on an intel NIC, so I went to Acronis.
