I'm having real problems with Excel 2003 in Vista as dates and times are treated as text rather than values. In trying to fix this problem, I checked the language being used by Excel [the Vista default is English (Australia)]. In Win XP, I do that by looking in Excel Help > About Microsoft Office Excel > System Information, then expand Office 2003 Applications > Microsoft Office Excel 2003 > Summary.
But in Vista, when I go (as Administrator) into Excel Help > About Microsoft Office Excel > System Information, Office 2003 Applications is not there! Is this somewhere else in Vista or does this indicate a problem with the installation of Excel on this computer? Or is there some other reason?
I have a spreadsheet in excel that contains columns such as Name, DOB, form no etc, and I want to add a column that will auto enter the date that the information was entered. I tried adding a column which uses the TODAY() function when something is added to the column to the left but everyday it updates the TODAY() to current day so that won't work. Can anybody think of a way to stop it updating or another way to put the "entered date" on?
we have microsoft office excel 2007 installed on our computer, however we like the older version 2003 better. are we able to load both on the same system? or do we have remove the 2007 to install 2003?
I just upgraded a Lenovo 6075-DNU ThinkCentre desktop from XP Pro to Vista Business SP1. The bizarre thing is, when I close Excel 2003, the "90 degree rotation" from the onboard Intel Video driver is triggered and the screen rotates. If I go into the driver settings and disable the 90 degree turn hotkey, the issue goes away. My concern is why this even happens. I've tried the latest driver from Lenovo and from Intel and repaired the office install and no change. This only happens from Excel, not from Word or any other program and only since the Vista Business sp1 upgrade.
We have recently got new hardware and upgraded to Vista. We have also just changed to fully networked printing. We are having some printing funnies, but mainly when printing from Excel - no idea why. Here is a selection of the printing problems we have had:
File-Print: Print dialog does not appear File-Print/Print: Does not print, no printing message File-Print/Print: Looks like it prints to printer (see printing message), but nothing prints out...........................................................................
I am trying to get an excel spreadsheet macro to function in excel 2007 on a Vista Business OS. it runs fine in excel 2007 on XP pro OS. Is there a known work-around for this? It is obviously an issue with Vista.
I bought new PC of Vista Home edition. I can't view a Excel made document that was sent to me by friend because my new visa PC has no Microsoft Office Excel be installed.
Is there anyway that I can view the document that made by Microsoft Office Excel since I have no Microsoft office Excel be installed?
How do I create a new toolbar? How do I edit the Toolbar Command Buttons (Icons?)? How do I create and add an Autocorrect (AC) Command Button to an Excel Toolbar? I HATE the ribbons, period? I LOVED the nice, neat, useful, and tiny toolbars I created and edited in the 2003 programs and this 'RIBBON' thing is the most obnoxious thing ever! I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............
I have a client who wants to import a bunch of Excel data into Contacts in XP. Can I do this for him on a Vista PC, then save a wab file? Further to this, does Vista actually have a wab file?
I'm trying to set up an email account in Outlook Express but I guess now it's Windows Live. Just purchased a home computer. Always had one at work and the system tech's fixed everything for me but now job has closed. What format do I use for the POP3 and SMTP server inputs at setup?
My office run XP, Outlook 2003 on the Exchange server no problem. I have bought a new machine with Vista and cannot access my mail. I am connected to the office domain and Outlook can find me on the domain but Outlook will not connect any further, keeps asking for a password

My company has an Excel application we have developed and we use an Installer program to distribute it. The installer default is to install the program into a Program File that is named. This works flawlessly on xp but on any computer that has Vista installed, the file opens in Read Only, which defeats our entire application. The read only format can not be changed in any of the obvious ways (under Properties etc). This is a huge problem for us. Is there any way around it?
I am using Vista Home Premium and Office 2007 Home & Student. I am printing to a Brother HL-2070N using wifi. For some reason, I can't print from Excel. I can print from the Word and Powerpoint applications in the Office 2007 package, but not from Excel. It looks like it prints (i.e. a small window opens and it says it is printing) but nothing comes out of the printer. I have 2 other PCs with the same setup (except the one PC is on XP), all print from all three Office applications, so it must be something with this particular PC (a laptop).
Since I had my Vista Small Business reinstalled, Excel is closing down and sometimes restarting again. Sometimes just closing down. After it has reopened automatic I can close without problems. The closing down also often happens upon opening a new Excel page when Excel is open. See attachment. I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.
I was always able to click on the clip for an attachment to open in Word or Excel and it opened immediately, without having to save the attachment. All of a sudden, I can't do rhat. When I click on it, Word or Excel opens, but it tells me it can't find the file. If I click on save attachments, it does that to my documents and then I can open it up. I "repaired" Office 2007, in case there was any glitch that happened with that, but it didn't change the situation - What might have happened, and how can I fix it so that attachments can open directly when I click on the clip on the e-mail.
I want to do is search by date or type of software. Actually I am searching for a recently created word file. All any search engine does now is find a program when you know its name. If you know a programs name you generally know were it is so Vista's search engine is useless. Lets make it clear it doesn't even do that. On my H drive I have a file named Zahainya when I asked Vista to search my H drive for a file named Zahainya it comes up empty. Moreover Vista admits it searches slowly because it asked if it can index my files every time and I say yes and still the search is at least 5X slower then XP and it can't find anything anyway.
After the first time installation of VISTA 64 on pure new disc I have all files in widowspanther dated 2030 year!!! also in some other catalogues (boot) i get the same. Those data are not accessible by user. Then there is a problem since FLEXlm licensee is giving me a notice that the "system clock has been set back" !! and i cannot run FLUENT and other programs.
I'm having a problem with Vista 64, I've verified the date and time in the bios (new motherboard) what happens is the date and time change to Dec 2016 after the PC restarts and the desktop is ready for action. I've scanned for viruses and malware and none were found, this is a new install from scratch.
Also I have a "Interactive Services Detection" error that forced me to disable the service, does anybody know how to fix it instead of disabling the service? I could just do another re-install but I'd like to avoid that right now.
date taken for photo copied, actually modified date on any documents copied in explorer tends to changed to the Now (date and time of copying). especially annoying for folders
I have two computers running Vista Home Premium. When Service Pack 1 came out, my desktop, which is a clone I built myself, downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 without any problem, but my Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop seems oblivious to Service Pack 1's existence. Although automatic update is on both computers with similar settings (full automatic update), and the laptop has downloaded a number of updates since then and keeps telling me the computer is up to date, I can't help wondering why Service Pack 1 hasn't downloaded and installed, and whether I should install it manually or just assume the computer has a good reason to not install it and leave it alone.
Some how only one of my users whole computer was reset. the other three were untouched. Now my question is how do i restore his computer to a last date. I saw once one of my freinds went to this place in control panel, and he set the date he wanted and he got it back.
Everytime I reboot my machine a new date and time appear. My computer is set to adjust the time based on the internet but today is now June 2, 2008 and the computer says the time is 4:44 am. My clock shows 8:35. the clock can only be changed the administrator (my husband by password only). The date hops all over everytime we reboot or log off and then log on again.
