Everytime I launch an IE window (v6.0.2900) a SVCHOST.EXE process starts and uses 100% of the CPU. If I kill the process all is fine until I start another IE instance or window.I have tried replacing SVCHOST.EXE in c:windowssystem32 with no luck and I have also run the MD DIAGS to see if they had any suggestion
Can anyone help me figure out what is causing this? I'm using Windows XP, Intel, 512MB nvidia graphics card, over 1.5 gigs of RAM
View 8 Replies View RelatedLately my computer has been running very crappy and I have noticed when it first boots up after everything loads up, the CPU usuage is at 100%. Main reason is due to one of the svchost.exe files are using 98% of it. After about 10 minutes this goes away. But what would this problem be related to? I can post a hijackthis log if necessary.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI get a directcd warning telling me that it will cause windows to be come unstable and also gives me a link to roxio systems "within a bubble" that comes up every time I boot the system. I tried to look in my setup folder or any where else I thought it could be by doing a scan but no good. it's just annoying, it's got to be comming from some where? it turns out that to make the warning disapear I'd have to purchase the particular roxio softwear and it's not really what I want to do. any suggestions as to where to look?

If I try to start any program, the computer just reboots without any error mesage or warning. Not sure what to do here, I have ZoneAlarm, Norton, Spysweeper, AdAware, Spysweeper, and Spybot Search and Destroy and check my PC often so a virus seems unlikely but you never know I guess. View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my windows update (wuauclt.exe) file has decided to run 24 hours a day. This means that it is using 99% of my computer resources. I have
run virus and spyware and nothing, I have deleted the file that seems to be causing the problem, but it always comes back on restart.
I recently moved out on my own and though I'm fairly knowledgeable regarding my laptop and its programs, I am not that familiar with repairing problems. I am having a consistent problem with system 32 folder popping up everytime I turn my computer on. I had this problem one other time and managed to trouble shoot my way out of it. But this time, try as I may I cannot get the darn thing to stop. I did bring up the I did the ctrl, shft & esc all at the same time and brought up my task manager and the first thing I noticed was that there were three things listed. The first was a foxfire logo followed by the words for whatever I'm searching for. like now it says tech Support Guy Forums - post new thread....Running. Under that is a square followed by the word Address, under that is another box followed by the words Quick Launch. I'm not sure what to do to get rid of the consistent popping up of system 32. It's just an irritating little sound and action.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy OS is XP Pro with a 160gb western digital hard drive.I was attempting to use Partition Magic to install another OS and something went wrong and now the computer wont boot up.I have tried everything I can think of but I am unable to fix it.I am getting an error message "invalid system disk, remove the disk and click on enter". I would like to format this drive and start over. I have gone into the bios and set the CD-ROM drive to boot first but no matter what drive I make first, I get the same error message mentioned above. Any ideas on how I might be able to format this drive?

What would cause me to have to change my boot sequence everytime to get my computer to boot into windows ? When it restarts after I change the boot sequence it goes right into windows xp. I recently had a new hard drive and more memory put in the computer. It will not boot into windows xp until I go into my setup and change the boot sequence everytime. Then it will boot into windows. The computer is about 6 years old and windows xp was an upgrade to 98. Once the computer is in windows it works just fine. Changing the bood sequence everytime is a bummer.

View 13 Replies View Relatedwhen i start up this pc, it becomes very slow. I go to task manager and have a look and i see SVCHOST.EXE as a system process. But is Mem Usage is like 40,000 and it is taking up 99 on the CPU and the CPU usage shoots to 100%. I can stop this process and the start bar will look like the windows classic for a bit then change back to regular xp.
i have tried to google it and i see all sorts of things, like spyhunter etc. i have tried all sorts of steps to remove this but to no avail
the operating system that i am using right now is Windows XP. Everytime i turn on the computer these two windows come up: the first window is an Application Error for svchost.exe, and the other is a "emcountered a problem and needs to close" window for Generic Host Process for Win32 Services.

Everything was running slowly, i press ctrl - alt - delete and wait 5 minutes for it to eventually come up, i then went to the processes tab and find that svchost.exe is running at 99% CPU I usually end process on that svchost, but then i cant connect to certain servers, and sometimes my sound drivers disappear also(not 100% sure, but this seems to be connected

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been going on for awhile. When I start my PC svchost.exe kicks in and uses all the cpu's so I can hardly get any programs to run. I have resorted to opening up the Task Manager and stopping the svchost.exe that is the culprit. Then everything runs fine. I know that the svchost.exe is most likely a Microsoft program (Windows Update and Windows Defender) that you need to run.

However I haven't been able to stop another problem I have which is the Generic Host Process for Win32 Services problem that usually comes with blaster. I doubt that it's blaster though. also could anyone suggest a good security combo I could use. Anti Virus Firewall and Anti Spyware I've become quite used to NOD32 and I don't like using the other memory hogs... I need suggestions for anti spyware and firewall that would go with NOD32.. or just any good solution that would prevent this from happening again and that wouldnt consume all my memory up.
