Since 10 days ago, every time I log on to Windows XP (Pro, SP3), I get an error message: "Windows cannot open file 6beff9.rbf. Find suitable program." But I can find neither the file nor such folder using search on my computer (including system, hidden files/folders). How do I get rid of it?

When try to open any program via the normal shortcuts, I see an error message reading Application Not Found. In order to use anything, I must go find the program on my hard drive and then choose the program responsible for running that program. I've tried creating new shortcuts, but to no avail. How can I get back to normal? I'm running Windows XP.
A friend was being bombarded with pop-ups, so I ran two programs which I use on my own computer and have installed on many others; they are "Spybot" and "AdAware." He is running Windows XP Pro. This friend of mine does not go to porn or gaming sites (and I found no evidence that he did), or gambling sites, with the exception of one casino site that has never caused any problems for him
The first time I ran Spybot, it detected 249 problems but couldn't remove some because they were running at the time of the scan, and gave me a choice of running Spybot again the next time the computer was started. I chose yes and it found 197 problems this time and couldn't fix 30 of them. I chose yes again to run Spybot on the next boot, and this time it said that it could not fix 44 problems. I ran RegCleaner and it took out some files but I didn't count them. I then ran Norton WinDoctor which found and fixed eight problems. I followed this with a scan with AdAware, which found 1,083 problems!! It could not fix 235 of them and on the reboot it could not fix 177 of them. The next scan showed 168 problems and could not fix 60 of them on reboot. When I rebooted, a Welcome screen requiring a password for the Username "Owner" came up so I called the guy and asked him if he had ever used a password with this system, and he said no. Now I cannot get into his system at all!

There are two profiles to sign in under. my computer was working perfect last night and when i went to start it under my profile a warning message came up, it read: Windows can not load the stored profile, this may be because the is insufficent security rights or a corrupt local file, windows is giving you a temporary file to log in as any changes you make will be lost when you log out.: confused when it gives me this temporary page everything is gone, all documents, music, photos etc. what caused this and how do i fix it?
My Trend Micro detected this virus - WORM_VB.BXS - but failed to quarantine it, and it had been affecting all my ext hdd drives. Advice is to remove the file manually, but according to the removal site from trend micro, there is lots of registry editing which I'm not confident of doing. Is there other tools to remove this worm without going into the registry.

I have a PC clone with a ASUS P4S800 motherboard with integrated sound. I have tried to load drivers from the motherboard CD to download SoundMax. In system's hardware devices under Sound, Video and game controllers there is: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture devices, Media Control devices, SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio with a yellow exclamation mark and Standard game port and Video Codecs. I have uninstalled the Soundmax three time and everytime I re-installed, I would get the yellow in a triangle and a warning saying it is corrupt.
how to prevent the message in the Security Information dialog box:"This page contains both secure and nonsecure itemsDo you want to display the nonsecure items?" I occasionally get this when accessing certain sites, like my Yahoo mail server site, and it is a pain in the butt. How do I set my system to always display the page first time, without this annoying message?
My machine has suddenly started giving me an error on start-up. The little red shield appears in the system tray and a warning saying that my Norton Anti-virus software is not working and I am not protected. However after a short while this disappears.I think it has something to do with the order the initial TSRs etc. are loaded during the boot-up process, as once the Norton icon appears in the system tray the red shield disappears. I wondered if there is any way I can change the order
