SP2 RPC Terminates
Aug 1, 2007
Just a few days ago my MCE 2005 HP laptop (DV9005us) started giving me the RPC terminating error. Google search turned up possible MBlaster trojan but cannot find any evidence of such as offered by Symentac, M$, etc., yet the "error" persists. It really a nuisance. Using taskmgr I can restart and usually everything returns to normal and stays that way all day.If I turn the laptop completely off for 20-30 minutes or more, the symptom returns. Less than that it operates normally.Hesitate to take a chance fooling with the MBlastFix by Symentac. If it's not that I may be in even more trouble.Have tried two sys restores and one image restore but sumptoms do not change.Would appreciate some help on this. Hate to use HP's recovery system-- it wipes out everything.

When install SP3 for some reason a message pops up that says access is denied and undoes every thing back to its previous state. I tried the auto-update option I even downloaded the ISO copy on MS site and it didn't work out.

KaZaA, one of the most famous P2P programs tends to hog the processor, this results in the termination of the program after few seconds. This tweak can be used on systems that have the above mentioned problem. Here it is...1. Download and install KaZaA.2. Right-click on the shortcut of the program and click on "Run as...", this will prompt you to select a user to run the progam as..do not forget to select the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity".3. Click OK and everything is back to normal..happy downloading!!Here is a final note on what I just discovered..you cannot change the options while running in the protected mode..so just run it in the normal mode, I mean the mode that hogs your CPU...change the necessary options and close down before KaZaA terminates...this should do the trick!Cheers!
