Now my problem is with SP3.As you can see in the title my current OS is Windows XP Professional Media Center Edition SP3 Integrated. However, I do not want SP3 as it is causing problems with my tcp/ip. What I'd like to know is if there's some kind of way I can remove this integrated SP3. I do not have it in my add/remove programs clearly as it is not manually installed.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm finally making the jump from Windows 98 to XP but I don't know whether I'm better off with XP Professional or XP Media Center.Right now I need a notebook or desktop with a 17" screen or monitor to take 15 weeks of on-line class accounting classes. By next January I hope I will have passed my CPA exams and be using my system primarily for accounting purposes which makes me lean towards Professional. However, it would be nice to view DVD movies also and I do like the looks of the Media Center version I saw in the store today. If I get Media Center, will I still be able to do everything I need for business like I would if I had Windows XP Professional?

The other day it needed to install some windows files and asked to put the OS CD, I put in my Windows XP CD by mistake. It authenticated and installed the OS partially.Now I have two OS on my system. And the Win XP is not correctly installed. I want to un-install the Win XP and delete the files in the system and keep the original installation of Win XP Media Center.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just got the Xbox 360 COD special edition. There's an option to somehow connect your computer to your Xbox. The requirement is to go through the Media Center. Well, first time starting up the Media Center on my computer, and I'm not able to get the Media Center to open. I receive an error right on startup of the program. It ends up generating a crash report, and closes. I've take 2 screenshots of the error. The first screenshot is of the first error that comes up upon opening the Media Center. The second screenshot is of another error I get when I choose to cancel instead of clicking ok on the first error.

I got an OS disk from dell but i am unsure of how to repair my system.I inserted the disk, clicked on Install Windows XP and selected the upgrade option, but all this did was give me system a Windows XP Pro option at start up.this is really giving me a problem. apparently now i have 2 Operating systems on my computer.

I went to windows update page, and it said there was one critical update. View 12 Replies View RelatedThis system had loads of problems by the time i got it to "fix" it wont system restore - they have all been deleted, BSOD, serious error recovery every other start, viruses, spyware by the ton.Simple start would be to try a repair, if that doesnt work total reinstall as i just cant be bothered with it.Problem is the Fujitsu Siemens recovery disc when used from windows states the serial is incorrect.The sticker on the box states "Win XP Media center Edition 2005".The Fujitsu Siemens Recovery CD states "Win XP Home Edition-SP2".Now unless there is some "Trick" that im not aware of it isn't ever going to work! so Fujitsu Siemens sent the wrong disc with the system and it only now when its needed that i realise they are wrong! The system probably isn't in warranty and Fujitsu Siemens don't allow any form of Email support.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince installing SP3 my media centre will not open although the rest of XP runs fine. I get a report 'Strong name validation failed for assembly 'C:Windowsehomeehshell.exe. The file may have been tampered with or it was partially signed but not fully signed with the correct private key.I have the original installation disk from Dell, but it won't recognise the key that came with the pc to re install it. Is there any way I can repair the file in question. I have tried uninstalling sp3, and using the recovery program, but nothing is working to make it work again.

My roommate has a desktop that she bought some years ago and it came with Windows XP Starter Edition installed. Lately I've been trying to help her upgrade from her XP SE to XP Pro but before doing this I have some questions.Is Windows XP SE at all upgradable to XP Pro? The reason I ask this is because:1.1 I accessed "How to install or upgrade to Windows XP" on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316941, but it does not mention Windows XP Starter Edition as one of the options of OS to be upgraded (only mentions Win98, Windows ME and Windows 2000 Pro 1.2 I also accessed http://www.comztek.com/Admin/ProdMan...1.asp?name=228 and it says "You may not upgrade to Windows XP Professional from Windows XP Starter Edition,. as this goes against Microsoft's End User License Agreement (EULA) 2. I changed the boot file too.When I boot up I get the two options, but when I log in to the Professional Edition I get an error. The computer will run setup [load files]. But when it gets to install, a STOP ERROR SCREEN comes up. This is with XP Pro. So I tried XP Home. The computer will install it. Can you tell me why it will not install XP Pro?
