Manually Installing Drivers - Blue Screens

Apr 28, 2009

I recently baught a used machine that came with a working clean cut legal copy of Windows XP. Needless to say I was thrilled, but I machine to use as a Linux file server, but this Windows XP installation was too valuable for me to simply discard. I took out the hard drive and placed it another computer. The computer boots windows XP, then 2 seconds later it blue screens and reboots (much too quickly for me to read the error message)

I'm thinking here, the obvious problem is that I took a Windows XP installation and changed all the hardware on it and it didn't have the drivers for it. I attempted to run the recovery console from a Windows XP installation disc and it asked me for the administrator password. The drivers are on the XP disc somewhere, I would like to know how to install them manually (using a Linux boot disc to move files from the XP installation disc to the hard drive)

Installing Drivers For Graphics And Wireless Network Card Drivers

Jan 1, 2006

Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) TP-LINK 54mbps wireless network card) And last but not least

Errors Crashes Blue Screens

May 10, 2010

My PC is not working well and i can't figure out why, Symptoms : When i try to play a game it gives me Fatal error with "the memory can't be read / written " ( That happens in games like WoW and Warcraft 3 TFT ) or exits the game for games like Painkiller or PES 6, The error / crashes in games happen randomly sometimes when i start the games and sometimes between 5 and 30 minutes, Other applications fail (like Firefox or Yahoo messenger ) this happens pretty often too, Random reboots happen 4-5 times a day. i unchecked the automatically reboot option and now instead of reboots i get a blue screen with an error classic i wrote down this error 0x00000024 0x001902FE 0xF89959BC 0xF89956B8 0x804ED1A6

What i did :
- format all HDD and reinstall the OS
- changed the memory sticks
- cleaned the PC interior ( really good )

Nothing worked

I've tried system recovery which didn't help and even tried reinstalling windows, but don't think I deleted/reformat the paritions before reinstalling windows again, so there might be some malicious data still hanging around, not sure as I do not know anything about computers,

Two Different Blue Screens - Cannot Access In Any Mode

Oct 5, 2009

Yesterday, my computer crashed, and it's left me unable to boot Windows XP (SP2), either normally or in Safe Mode. The root of the problem, I've gathered, is SPTD.sys, which is for some reason choosing now to present me with boot difficulties. The problem I have is, since I cannot access Windows XP in any mode, how can I tell BIOS to simply not load this file? From what I gather, it's used for Daemon Tools, which I no longer use, so it wouldn't adversely affect anything, correct?

Log Off All Errors - BSods Blue Screens

Sep 30, 2009

I've been having this problem for half a year now, and I've tried everything I could think of (as an advanced user) to fix it myself, without success. I have kept a log of all errors that I have received and of all solutions that I have attempted, so please bear with me as I try to describe all the relevant details, in the hope that someone will be able to help me fix it.

Ever since I bought my laptop (Acer Aspire 5930G), I have been getting blue screens (BSODs) that seem to be linked with the Intel wireless network adapter that came pre-installed in it. Whenever the WiFi is turned on from the button on the front of the laptop, a BSOD will appear at a random point in time (usually, between a few minutes and a few days after it has been switched on), regardless of whether I am actually connected to a WLAN network or not. On average, I get a BSOD every other day or so. If the WiFi is turned off from the button, then no BSOD ever appears.

The error codes that the BSODs indicate vary, these are just some of what I have received:
- 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0xbab30d70, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
- 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0xb8330d70, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
- 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
- 0x100000d1 (0xa483a671, 0x00000002, 0x00000008, 0xa483a671)

After analysing some of the minidumps generated by the BSODs with WinDbg, the following files were indicated as possible culprits, all of them having to do with Internet connectivity (Intel driver of firewall):
- NETw5x32.sys
- fwdrv.sys
- NDIS.sys....

Blue Screens In Operating System

May 30, 2007

Hardware: Asrock 775 dual vista, E6300, 2gigs of memory, x1900gt video cardI installed new stuff on existing Hard Disk. Had stability issues.I had a hard time getting video card to work right.I was getting reboots. So I do a windows repair. Some help, but then I was getting blue screens. So i spend many hours between safemode and what not trying to save data to a cd so i can do a fresh install.I do a fresh install, and windows hangs on the install. Several times. When it does finish, i get blue screens for thinks like Generic host process for win32 LSA shell.I tried the internet using exploring, it would would always cause the computer to reboot, just a matter of how long I got before it did.I got firefox installed on 3 try, but it had same issues.SO, I did chkdsk /p, it finds more than 1 error. I do a chkdsk /r and retry my computer, same issues. I do a Hard Disk scan from MY Computer, properties of c drive, tools check both boxes there and restart. still had problems after that.I download my Hard Disk utility program, and have it do its thing, including a surface scan that took an hour.So then I figure it must have been the fresh install hang. I do a format using the Hard Disk utility, take 6hrs. So I start a fresh install this morning, and during the install, I get the blue screen it says Stop: 0x00000024 So after all that, is it a BIOS issue? The mobo had 1 step lower than the most recent bios version according to the Asrock website. SHould I install a new bios?If I do a flash and install, I can do the most recent and it will cover all the previous versions, correct?

Constant Random Blue Screens Of Death

Feb 19, 2008

I'm fairly sure this is a hardware problem because I previously had Vista (the problem started some time after I installed it) and have since reformatted and gone back to XP, and it's still happening regularly. Quite often an hour or two after the PC's been switched on (although the time seems completely random), it will crash to a BSOD with one of the following errors:

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

And less frequently, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT will come up. But the PC can sometimes run for 24 hours straight without it happening. It's extremely random. I have reset all settings in my BIOS to default and there are no options to disable shadowing/caching. I've got 2gb of RAM (2x1gb) and I've done memtest twice, and it did 2 or 3 passes each time and had no errors. I've also tried each possible combination of RAM, e.g. using module 1 in slot 1, module 2 in slot 1, module 2 in slot 2, etc. It did it just now with the following error details:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050
Technical details: (0xFF806166, 0x00000000, 0xFF806166, 0x00000000)

Repeated Blue Screens With DRVMCDB.SYS Error

Aug 14, 2007

I've been receiving repeated blue screen errors with the DRVMCDB.SYS file referenced in it. It typically only happens when I have to reboot my computer for some reason (or decide to shut it down and then restart it). I know the file relates to my Sonic Solutions hardward/software for my cd drive in some form due to the Windows Error Reporting message of:Problem caused by Sonic Solutions CD/DVD Recording Software Component (DRVMCDB.SYS).I've already gone to the Sonic website and made sure I updated all drivers and stuff like that I could find. I just don't know what else to do and it constantly happening is beginning to make me worry.

Several .dll Errors In IE And Mozilla, Several Blue Screens, And Many Program Crashes

Mar 25, 2005

Ever since I'd built my computer, I have been getting errors in internet explorer. These would pop up at completely random intervals (although it seemed to be more often when I loaded intensive pages). They would take the guise of problems that are all attributed to many things. mshtml.dll, ntdll.dll, wininet.dll, and a few other .dll files have been the error causing agents in the "more info" on the error popup. I have also had many blue screen errors such as bad pool caller, irql not less or equal, and page fault in_nonpaged area, to name a few
When I started getting these errors, I tried to look them up, but I found several different reasons for errors. Many errors had different problems such as various installed components, leading my to believe that it was a RAM error. I bought a PNY stick at BB and swapped it. Still got the errors. I then returned the PNY stick and bought an ULTRA X-Connect PSU. I tested it again, and I still got the same errors. Then, a new devvelopment occurred. I tried doing a repair install, but it errored halfway through, saying that a certain file could not be copied

Strange Lockups / Blue Screens Missing DVD Drives

Jul 22, 2008

I've had my computer since Christmas of last year. It's a pretty nice rig, lots of nice stuff in it. I'll start out with the first problem I've had with it. My DVD drive: it just disappears. I'll be running fine one minute, then the next my computer will freeze for a few seconds, then it's fine, then it'll freeze again, then it's fine. Then I take a look at my list of drives, and my DVD drive isn't on the list. I can still see my two hard drives, but not my DVD drive. This wasn't a HUGE issue to me; I figured I would just have to deal with not being able to install games or watch movies on my computer. So then, after trying to troubleshoot this issue for quite some time, I decide to completely power off my PC, including turning it off with the switch in the back. After waiting a few minutes, I flip the switch, and I hear the sound of something sparking and frying. "That's odd," I think to myself, but try to turn my computer on anyway. No response. I mash the power button but it just won't turn on. Turns out my power supply was fried. "Alright," I said. "I'll just go upgrade." But my dad disagreed and simply purchased one that was roughly equivalent to the one I currently had. Oh well, it's served me fine so far.

Recently, my problems have been getting worse. We tried reinstalling Windows, thinking that might fix the DVD drive. My dad hands me this "custom" CD with Windows and SP2 installed, and since he's likely to start screaming and spitting if I don't do his bidding, I installed with this CD. I am not sure if this was a mistake or not, but I'm thinking it was.Recently my computer has been locking and freezing at random intervals, usually while I'm playing World of Warcraft, though it also has happened at least twice while I'm just playing around on the computer, browsing the internet, ETC. The other day I was playing WoW and a bluescreen popped up. Here's the technical information, or whatever it is.

Blue Screens - Reformatted Numerous Times, Changed Partitions

Sep 4, 2007

I have a serious problem with Blue Screens.

I've used Windows ever since 3.1. My Blue Screen count was 95 - 2 BS, 98 - 0 BS, ME - 5 BS, XP - 0 BS... until now. I've been through a laptop, and four PCs with XP, and my current one is the only one I've had Blue Screens on. In fact, until I got it, I thought Blue Screens in XP were just a myth.

I've built three computers. Two of them had XP Home installed (one of them is what I am currently using), and one had XP Pro. I built this computer around April of this year. I had the Blue Screen problems since the start. I reformatted numerous times, changed partitions, etc., but nothing worked. I stopped using it when I went home from college for the summer, but now I'm back at college with the computer, and so are the Blue Screens.
