I'm fairly sure this is a hardware problem because I previously had Vista (the problem started some time after I installed it) and have since reformatted and gone back to XP, and it's still happening regularly. Quite often an hour or two after the PC's been switched on (although the time seems completely random), it will crash to a BSOD with one of the following errors:
And less frequently, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT will come up. But the PC can sometimes run for 24 hours straight without it happening. It's extremely random. I have reset all settings in my BIOS to default and there are no options to disable shadowing/caching. I've got 2gb of RAM (2x1gb) and I've done memtest twice, and it did 2 or 3 passes each time and had no errors. I've also tried each possible combination of RAM, e.g. using module 1 in slot 1, module 2 in slot 1, module 2 in slot 2, etc. It did it just now with the following error details:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050
Technical details: (0xFF806166, 0x00000000, 0xFF806166, 0x00000000)

I've installed a fresh copy of XP x64 recently but am being constantly interupted by blue screen errors.I've used driver agent to check for updated drivers, and all (according to this site) are current. there is no pattern to the blue screens. happens with one program open, sometimes no programs (at night). sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after several hours.
I keep getting random crashes and I don't know how to go about diagnosing the problem. Every so often I get random STOP error messages, and from the articles on the Microsoft Support site it appears to be a driver problem, but I don't know which driver. These are the errors I got recently (in order)
Everything will freeze, completeley and then it will go to a blue screen that says something like HARD DRIVER ERROR:BEGINNING DUMP OF PHYSICAL MEMORY
which scares the living **** out of me, so I turn off the power manually from the power strip connected to my computer and switch it on again, sometimes, It'll start up and after it shows the Hardware and Window XPs loads, It goes to another blue screen that says HARD ERROR, instead of having me log in. l0s71
Have a system I built some time ago and I'm getting random blue screens. It happens mostly when using a trading application called eSignal. I called there tech support and they assured me that it wasn't their app causing the issue. I have a tendency to agree with them because if it was their app, they would be getting grief all from all over the country.
I really could use some help in finding the culprit causing my random restarts, and blue screens. Part of the problem seems to be a driver (driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), but which one. I have cleared virus, and spyware so machine is now clean. Reinstalled factory software from restore CD.
I will try to be as specific about my problem in general.I am using a Compaq laptop, using Windows XP. I don't know much more than that, but I can search for additional information regarding specs and stuff. It all started one day when I was browsing the internet using the latest version of Firefox. I turned up my volume and the blue screen of death appeared (advising me to seek tech support of sorts).I restarted, and yet again touching the volume yielded the blue screen of death. I tried several, possibly 6 times, and the only thing causing the blue screen of death is altering the volume in any way, including touching the volume buttons, adjusting volume in the volume control and adjusting the wave settings in volume control.
So I ran Spyware Doctor. I do pay the full 40 bucks a year for this wonderful program, and it detected a bunch of freaky looking things. Like adaware, something called virtumonde, and all these high threat viruses and adware, but it wiped them clean. I ran it again, it found 3 more standard viruses that it didn't name, cleaned them, ran SWD again and nothing appeared, so I assume now my computer is free from whatever was messing with me.The volume problem still persists though, and also at random times the blue screen of death will appear (I'm praying now it won't as I type all this or I'll cry). Then another problem occurred. When I try to open a file of sorts, that pesky message appears- windows explorer has an error of some sort, do you want to close it or ignore it?or something to that extent, so I can't view any sort of files now. I am running the computer in safe mode (which still exhibits the risk of a blue screen attack, but I can view the folders properly). Somethings up, what can I do to fix this? Any suggestions? I will try to answer any thing I might have left out.
I need major help. First please bear in mind that this ole lady is like a kindergartner in the school of computers.I've been getting booted off usually a "windows has encountered a problem, and needs to shut down to prevent damage to your computer" screen comes up......but not always.lso, I'll get booted off and a blue screen comes on with message. When this happens, I push the button to restart and it'll come back on, but sometimes I'll hear clicking sounds and the blue screen will come back. It also will just lock up occasionally.
I have previously posted this thread in the hopes of determining some kind of solution. Well, rather than dump a bunch of cryptic data on the community, I thought I would provide a short list of the last bunch of BSOD's that I suffered.
My PC is not working well and i can't figure out why, Symptoms : When i try to play a game it gives me Fatal error with "the memory can't be read / written " ( That happens in games like WoW and Warcraft 3 TFT ) or exits the game for games like Painkiller or PES 6, The error / crashes in games happen randomly sometimes when i start the games and sometimes between 5 and 30 minutes, Other applications fail (like Firefox or Yahoo messenger ) this happens pretty often too, Random reboots happen 4-5 times a day. i unchecked the automatically reboot option and now instead of reboots i get a blue screen with an error classic i wrote down this error 0x00000024 0x001902FE 0xF89959BC 0xF89956B8 0x804ED1A6
What i did : - format all HDD and reinstall the OS - changed the memory sticks - cleaned the PC interior ( really good )
I have formatted the XP partition, re-installed a Norton Ghost copy over the top. Repaired XP but still i keep getting these blue screens.I removed Zonealarm Free, as i found one file that caused a blue screen was linked to that program. But no matter what i try i cannot use my computer, with out the screens coming up.
i got a new sound card, its been fine for the last 3/4 weeks. but tonight, the evening of the worst day of my life, its crashed more than ever and i need serious help before this thing goes out the window
its coem up with 0x0000050, 0x000008E and 0x0000000A 0x00000050 being the most comon and refrenceing to 'win32k.sys' or something simalar. ive given up studying them
its been almost a year since this problem began, where my computer randomly gives me blue screens, I do not know what they say, because they come and go too fast, and even still, I would not understand them. I've tried system recovery which didn't help and even tried reinstalling windows, but don't think I deleted/reformat the paritions before reinstalling windows again, so there might be some malicious data still hanging around, not sure as I do not know anything about computers,
I receive him with linux, so I asked a friend to remove and install XP, after 1 or 2 mounts the first blue screen appeared, I read it and restart the pc since it was the first time I didn't find it so bad, anyway it kept o going, one time I exit Garry's Mod, it also appeared after a critical error in SWAT 4 - The Stetchkov Syndicate,
Yesterday, my computer crashed, and it's left me unable to boot Windows XP (SP2), either normally or in Safe Mode. The root of the problem, I've gathered, is SPTD.sys, which is for some reason choosing now to present me with boot difficulties. The problem I have is, since I cannot access Windows XP in any mode, how can I tell BIOS to simply not load this file? From what I gather, it's used for Daemon Tools, which I no longer use, so it wouldn't adversely affect anything, correct?
XP Pro wasnt reading any usb storage devices, so i put in the xp operating disc, went to set up xp, then repair... went through the setup process, rebooted and now its in a blue screen cycle. There is no error code, just the message that windows had to shut down, maybe due to a virus. There is no virus as it was scanned yesterday
I've been having this problem for half a year now, and I've tried everything I could think of (as an advanced user) to fix it myself, without success. I have kept a log of all errors that I have received and of all solutions that I have attempted, so please bear with me as I try to describe all the relevant details, in the hope that someone will be able to help me fix it.
Ever since I bought my laptop (Acer Aspire 5930G), I have been getting blue screens (BSODs) that seem to be linked with the Intel wireless network adapter that came pre-installed in it. Whenever the WiFi is turned on from the button on the front of the laptop, a BSOD will appear at a random point in time (usually, between a few minutes and a few days after it has been switched on), regardless of whether I am actually connected to a WLAN network or not. On average, I get a BSOD every other day or so. If the WiFi is turned off from the button, then no BSOD ever appears.
The error codes that the BSODs indicate vary, these are just some of what I have received: - 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0xbab30d70, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) - 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0xb8330d70, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) - 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) - 0x100000d1 (0xa483a671, 0x00000002, 0x00000008, 0xa483a671)
After analysing some of the minidumps generated by the BSODs with WinDbg, the following files were indicated as possible culprits, all of them having to do with Internet connectivity (Intel driver of firewall): - NETw5x32.sys - fwdrv.sys - NDIS.sys....
Hardware: Asrock 775 dual vista, E6300, 2gigs of memory, x1900gt video cardI installed new stuff on existing Hard Disk. Had stability issues.I had a hard time getting video card to work right.I was getting reboots. So I do a windows repair. Some help, but then I was getting blue screens. So i spend many hours between safemode and what not trying to save data to a cd so i can do a fresh install.I do a fresh install, and windows hangs on the install. Several times. When it does finish, i get blue screens for thinks like Generic host process for win32 LSA shell.I tried the internet using exploring, it would would always cause the computer to reboot, just a matter of how long I got before it did.I got firefox installed on 3 try, but it had same issues.SO, I did chkdsk /p, it finds more than 1 error. I do a chkdsk /r and retry my computer, same issues. I do a Hard Disk scan from MY Computer, properties of c drive, tools check both boxes there and restart. still had problems after that.I download my Hard Disk utility program, and have it do its thing, including a surface scan that took an hour.So then I figure it must have been the fresh install hang. I do a format using the Hard Disk utility, take 6hrs. So I start a fresh install this morning, and during the install, I get the blue screen it says Stop: 0x00000024 So after all that, is it a BIOS issue? The mobo had 1 step lower than the most recent bios version according to the Asrock website. SHould I install a new bios?If I do a flash and install, I can do the most recent and it will cover all the previous versions, correct?
I recently baught a used machine that came with a working clean cut legal copy of Windows XP. Needless to say I was thrilled, but I machine to use as a Linux file server, but this Windows XP installation was too valuable for me to simply discard. I took out the hard drive and placed it another computer. The computer boots windows XP, then 2 seconds later it blue screens and reboots (much too quickly for me to read the error message)
I'm thinking here, the obvious problem is that I took a Windows XP installation and changed all the hardware on it and it didn't have the drivers for it. I attempted to run the recovery console from a Windows XP installation disc and it asked me for the administrator password. The drivers are on the XP disc somewhere, I would like to know how to install them manually (using a Linux boot disc to move files from the XP installation disc to the hard drive)
i was just playing some music on itunes and once again it gave me the blue screen, now im use to it always doing this when running any media software or watching videos online etc. i got a message i never seen b4 so i just would like someone to tell me if i can disable whatever it is thats causing it.
STOP (0X0000008E, 0X00000005, 0XBF8F556D, 0XAE44FAA8, 0X00000000 WIN32K.SYS- Address BF8F556D BASE AT BF80000, DATESTAMP 45F013F6
it also said if the stop message displays the error driver, then disable it or try changing the video adapter? never got this message before. can i solve this matter by the obove information
I am running windows xp - sp2. For the last few days, I was getting continuous blue screens whenever I booted up my laptop with the following message:ar5211.sys tried to write to read-only memory space.
My Dell laptop is constantly blue screening. I have ran the dell supplied CD diagnostics and found nothing wrong with the Hardware. I have reformatted and reinstalled everything, I just cannot get it too stop the blue screens.
My computer is freezing up, automatically restarting, and the blue screen appears. I have in house service but they said my hardware was good and that it was my operating system and that would cost 300 to fix so i still have the problem. I thought i would be real smart and just upgrade by hard drive and reload my windows xp drivers and application but that did not work. It freezes up when it loads up on the desktop screen before i do anything. The mouse and keyboard lose power and i have to hold in the power button for about 10 sec. for it to shut down.
I've been receiving repeated blue screen errors with the DRVMCDB.SYS file referenced in it. It typically only happens when I have to reboot my computer for some reason (or decide to shut it down and then restart it). I know the file relates to my Sonic Solutions hardward/software for my cd drive in some form due to the Windows Error Reporting message of:Problem caused by Sonic Solutions CD/DVD Recording Software Component (DRVMCDB.SYS).I've already gone to the Sonic website and made sure I updated all drivers and stuff like that I could find. I just don't know what else to do and it constantly happening is beginning to make me worry.
Usually I use Linux (because its faster easier more secure and just better) but in the past week I have had to install Windows XP pro sp2 on a seperate hard disk for remote desktop connectivity with the Windows system at work.Installation wouldn't work for whatever reason, so I had to install win2000. I thought I would keep that on, but unfortunatly updates would not work at all. So I then relatively painlessly updated to XP and installed SP2. From there it was working, and everything about it worked (apart from in games I get odd white lines on textures, but thats probably for another thread).
Ever since I'd built my computer, I have been getting errors in internet explorer. These would pop up at completely random intervals (although it seemed to be more often when I loaded intensive pages). They would take the guise of problems that are all attributed to many things. mshtml.dll, ntdll.dll, wininet.dll, and a few other .dll files have been the error causing agents in the "more info" on the error popup. I have also had many blue screen errors such as bad pool caller, irql not less or equal, and page fault in_nonpaged area, to name a few When I started getting these errors, I tried to look them up, but I found several different reasons for errors. Many errors had different problems such as various installed components, leading my to believe that it was a RAM error. I bought a PNY stick at BB and swapped it. Still got the errors. I then returned the PNY stick and bought an ULTRA X-Connect PSU. I tested it again, and I still got the same errors. Then, a new devvelopment occurred. I tried doing a repair install, but it errored halfway through, saying that a certain file could not be copied
I've had my computer since Christmas of last year. It's a pretty nice rig, lots of nice stuff in it. I'll start out with the first problem I've had with it. My DVD drive: it just disappears. I'll be running fine one minute, then the next my computer will freeze for a few seconds, then it's fine, then it'll freeze again, then it's fine. Then I take a look at my list of drives, and my DVD drive isn't on the list. I can still see my two hard drives, but not my DVD drive. This wasn't a HUGE issue to me; I figured I would just have to deal with not being able to install games or watch movies on my computer. So then, after trying to troubleshoot this issue for quite some time, I decide to completely power off my PC, including turning it off with the switch in the back. After waiting a few minutes, I flip the switch, and I hear the sound of something sparking and frying. "That's odd," I think to myself, but try to turn my computer on anyway. No response. I mash the power button but it just won't turn on. Turns out my power supply was fried. "Alright," I said. "I'll just go upgrade." But my dad disagreed and simply purchased one that was roughly equivalent to the one I currently had. Oh well, it's served me fine so far.
Recently, my problems have been getting worse. We tried reinstalling Windows, thinking that might fix the DVD drive. My dad hands me this "custom" CD with Windows and SP2 installed, and since he's likely to start screaming and spitting if I don't do his bidding, I installed with this CD. I am not sure if this was a mistake or not, but I'm thinking it was.Recently my computer has been locking and freezing at random intervals, usually while I'm playing World of Warcraft, though it also has happened at least twice while I'm just playing around on the computer, browsing the internet, ETC. The other day I was playing WoW and a bluescreen popped up. Here's the technical information, or whatever it is.
its a FX7026. I had to replace the motherboard and am trying to install XP on it, but after loading all the install drivers it blue screens. I have installed a trial vista on it to make sure it isn't just a problem with the computer and it installs fine, but when I try XP it keeps popping a blue screen.
