Personal Computer Was Not Booting Up At All
Jun 24, 2007Having a problem with my friends personal computer. He has a Fujitsu Siemens 'Cordant' Personal Computer which was not booting up at all. I managed to fix this and install the xp home recovery disk that came with the personal computer. Unfortunately he now needs XP Pro which hangs at "press any key to boot from cd" when i put it in his machine. The cd itself is in perfect working order and will boot on other computers. All hardware is fine as XP home installed fine and when i try to press enter to boot from cd, the computer makes a beeping noise so the keyboard is recognized.

Aug 31, 2006My daughter shut the power off during shutdown.Now the Personal Computer won't reboot. The screen comes up asking what mode you want to boot up in.No matter what you select it loops back.The Personal Computer is a Gateway with Windows XP Media.It didn't come with recovery cds, only blank ones to make your own.I just got off the phone with CS and they are sending me recovery cds but it will take about a week to get.Is there any other way to fix this without using the recovery cds ?

Mar 16, 2010The other day I was sitting there playing world of war-craft like any other day, when my personal computer just freezes and nothing works, so I do a hard boot.I was using windows vista at this stage and every time the loading bar would come up, it would go away like windows was about to load and then it would just sit on a endless black screen. After going into safe mode and doing a system restore I was able to get in to windows once before it froze up on another game, I spent 2 days trying to get into windows before reformatting to windows xp.So, after reformatting and putting windows xp on, everything seemed fine, did my windows updates and all the updates for my mobo etc, had the personal computer running for about 6 hours with no problems, go to play world of war-craft and within 5 mins my personal computer froze again. So back to the same problem, except this time the bar loads and i get a blue screen that comes up sometimes, but its only up for about 1 second before windows restarts again. It just keeps going to the windows loading bar, will freeze for 2-3 seconds, continue to load and then restart again by itself. I left it on for about an hour of cycling through by itself but windows still wont load.World of war-craft is on a 2nd HD that hasn't been reformatted, I thought this might be the cause but my personal computer also froze when I was just browsing the net and had the same problem loading windows.Any suggestions? because I'm a bit lost at the moment with what to do, the only other thing I can think of to be the cause would be my ram or gfx card dying? but I hope that's not the case.

Nov 16, 2006Have 2 personal computer's both have XP SP2 using eTrust AZ Armor with it's FW being a rebadged ZoneAlarm or so I've been told. I've checked the settings on each personal computer FW, and they appear to be the same. Also, on each personal computer in Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Multimedia, Show Pictures is selected.There is a car forum that we like and some of the members post image attachments, but from one personal computer the images cannot be viewed. Images are able to be viewed that are posted directly into the message, but the ones with attachments show up as Attached Thumbnails with a blank rectangular box below. On the other personal computer, on the exact same posting I see Attached Images and in the rectangular box are .jpg links that I can open.Any suggestions as to what settings need to be changed to be able to view them from both personal computer's?

Personal Computer Began To Slow Up To A Crawl
Dec 8, 2006After getting this downloader virus which was picked up by norton and dispensed with, the personal computer began to slow up to a crawl. I am wondering if damage or sorts was done before it was removed. The available physical memory dropped to around 30M and the virtual memory is to the max and that seems to help. The operating system is XP pro with service pack 2.

My computer is really slow so im trying to see whats wrong with it. I have done all the virus stuff. Oh and I deleted a lot of unused programs which I thought would make it so much faster and free up some space but when I went back under the C folder in program files, it was only like one less mb or gb whatever it is. haha cant you see im not that good with this stuff! Anyway, for disc cleanup... will that speed it up? I dont want to delete anything. Will it delete stuff? as for the chkdsk. should I do that to see whats wrong and what is disk defrag. Should I do that.

Jan 23, 2005I have 2 computers, one is a HP laptop and the other is a desktop pc, and they are both running kind of slow. I've heard that installing more memory would help speed up the computer. I've been to a site where you can enter your computer model and they will tell you what memory is right for your computer, I have no problem finding out the memory for my laptop but I have a problem looking for memory for the desktop pc. It was a HP Pavilion 8655c but I installed a different cd writer and a dvd writer, upgraded the motherboard and upgraded from a Pentium 3 to a Celeron 4 processor, and I was told that this is now a custom built pc. I was told when I bought the motherboard that I could install over 4 mb's of RAM and I am currently running on 248 mb. How can I find out what memory that I need to install on this computer? I scan for viruses and spyware/adware frequently, and neither are installed on either of my computers. I have deleted the temporary internet files, uninstalled some programs that I don't use that often, disabled everything that starts at startup, and defragmented the hard drives. Other than installing more memory, what else can I do to speed up my computers? My laptop runs off of Windows XP home/512mb of ram/30 gb hard drive.
My desktop pc runs off of Windows XP Pro/248 mb of ram/1 hard drive is 30 gb and the other is 120 gb. If there is any other info you need to help me speed up my computers please let me know.

Apr 20, 2006There is a website that I have been attending for 4 years now, in which you can play games, chat, ect ect.They have what is called a "Speed Test" to test your computer in many different areas (3-D, Text, Pixels, Math, ect.) that you can take for free, by just logging in as a guest.All you have to do is come up with a nickname, login, go to SINGLE PLAYER tab at the bottom left of your screen, click it, then go to the second or third to last game, on the bottom right of your screen, and click it (Greyish box).Up comes the speed test...Just click start (make sure you have everything closed out on the screen as it takes your computer through several speed tests)In no way is this some kind of promo or anything, its just a really COOL way to test your computer.
