I am having problems with XP recognizing the scanner on my HP PSC 2110 which had worked well on ME. I also can not get XP to recoginize my Vivitar Camera, both are connected using USB ports.I have uninstalled and reinstalled both software packages to no avail.
Printer works even though it is not recognized.
When I open up the Wizard and click "next", it goes to the "options" screen, but when I click on "custom setup" or "next" (again) I get an error message that says "Error: An error occurred while setting scanner preferences. If the scanner is being used [which it isn't], wait for it to complete the task, and then try again."I'm using a Dell Dimension E510 with a Dell AIO 942.Please help, if at all possible. I've downloaded some file recovery programs, but have since removed them. I don't know what else could be interfering here.
I have a problem which many others seem to share, which is that the Scanner and Camera Wizard has suddenly ceased to appear automatically when downloading from a camera. Until a few days ago, I could plug my Olympus into my computer with a USB lead, and a box would crop up offering several courses of action. I would choose the one which permitted downloading the camera files to a folder. Next the Scanner and Camera Wizard would pop up, and after a few clicks, the camera files would be downloaded to my hard drive, and any unwanted shots would be deleted. I mention all this because some people appear to think that the Scanner and Camera Install Wizard is the same thing, but it isn't.Various cures have been put forward, like uninstalling Real Player 10, finding wiaacmgr.exe and renaming it to Scanner and Camera Wizard, and reinstalling the camera. I have tried these without success, and the wiaacmgr file is not present on either of my XP computers (one Pro, the other Home). I have also downloaded Autofix.exe, which found nothing wrong, and tried to persuade Autoplay to do the business.
Just got my first digital camera and all was good until I tried to download pictures to my pc. The microsoft scanner and camera wizard would not pop up when I attached my camera all settings and plugs checked). I found out this may be due to SP2 or Real Time, which I do not have. Has anyone else had this problem and what is the best and quickest fix.
Usually this will start on it's own. Today that is not happening. I have verified that everything is connected correctly. Is there any other way to start this?
Running every bl**dy time I plug in a USB mini hard drive? I've tried a system restore, searched some about autoplay- turned autoplay off and on, tried to find autoplay in GPEDIT, no joy there, irritating in that just the one USB drive does this, and it doesn't even have any pictures on it.
I seem to have "lost" the executable for the "scanner and camera wizard", which makes it easy to write digital images from my CF card to my hard drive. I know I can do some cutting and pasting to get the images there.
When I plug in my camera into a USB port, the Scanner and Camera wizard, which used to run, no longer runs, instead an explorer box pops up with the folder(s) on the memory stick. I can browse the memory stick, also. When I try to manually run the scanner and camera wizard, it tells me it cannot recognize the scanner or camera. Again, this was working, suddently it stopped.
I was wondering if any one knows of a free program that does the same thing as the "scanner & camera wizard" that microsoft offers in XP?? I suppose I can use the one on the CD that came with my camera- But I dont like that one. I want to be able to plug my camera by USB to the PC and have the pictures downloaded right away- See, I was using the "scanner & camera wizard" that came with my pc (win XP) & have tried to get it to recognise my camera as it USED to do before, but it stopped.I have tried doing some troubleshooting.
When you plug in a USB stick with some pictures on it (or you select Content Type: pictures in AutoPlay), you have the option to choose 'Copy pictures to a folder on my computer' when AutoPlay is enabled. Because I also have an external hard-drive, I have disabled AutoPlay. When I connected the external HD, it would always start to rowse/read the entire content of the HD (annoying pop-up I had to cancel) and then it would open the folder. As a consequence, I no longer have the option to choose 'Copy pictures to a folder on my computer', which would launch the Scanner and Camera wizard, when I plug in my USB stick with pictures on it. When I try to manually start the Scanner and Camera wizard (wiaacmgr.exe), I'm getting an error message indicating I don't have any scanners or camera's connected.
I'm having problems getting my wizard to come up when I use my card reader or if I put in a cd. I use to get the options in a box to read files, play , or to transfer photos. Now I don't get that option. I think it may be a file missing in my regestry.
My grandaughter accidently clicked on the screen for the same picture tocome up each time a disc is inserted into the drive. how can i restorethis to how it was. i cannot use any of my discs now.i have tried to use the restore point section but was told there wereno dates prior to today.
I need to scan some documents with my dell printer/scanner machine.i lost the installation disk that came with it and i have not installed it yet.how do i download the installation process online.
How to get the MS Scanner and Camera Wizard to see my camera's Flashstick when it's inserted into the flashstick drive after installing a MS critical update? This is from the MS camera.chm.lnk:To link a program to a digital camera event Right-click the camera, and then click Properties. # We did that and it said "the properties for this camera are not available." What now? All the software for this HP camera is installed and updated. We never had a problem with it before. How do we get the MS scanner and camera wizard to come up now when the flash stick is installed?
This in plain non-techie English? My Microsoft Camera and scanner Wizard no longer comes up when I insert the FLASH-CARD from my HP digital camera in the FLASH-DRIVE on my PC. Nothing happens, Just a brief flash of something on the monitor, then nothing, How do I get the wizard back so I can unload my camera using the flashdrive?I have WXP-Home/SP2. I downloaded some XP security updates but don't know if they caused the problem.
OS : windows XP Pro sp3Problem : We have a machine that has lost Scanner and Camera wizard from autoplay a few days ago after we moved this PC from a local Workgroup to a Domain. After moving it to the domain with the new user, we copied the Windows profile from the old local user to to the new domain user. We currently do not have any group policies configured to disable auto play. When I log in with the username into the old local account the Wizard pops up fine. It is something related to the user/profile change. When we plug the camera into the computer autoplay works and recognises that the camera has pictures but there are no options to transfer pictures in the pop up box. i have tried a a few reg edits , we do not have Real Player, No luck with Windows autoplay repair wizard either.
You know when you plug your camera into your computer it brings up the picture transfer wizard. well my computer no longer does that and its kind of annoying. anyone know how to reactivate autoplay i guess? ive tried different usb ports and i even uninstalled usb root hubs and rebooted and let them reinstall themselves.
When I first got the computer, when I plugged in a digital camera, I got a "found new hardware" pop-up, thereafter when plugging in the USB cable, the XP camera wizard popped up and the pictures were downloaded without a fuss. At some point it stopped working, and I've ended up using Picassa to get the images d'ld, but it won't let me add photos to an existing folder. I want the Windows wizard to work again, that was better. My new camera is not recognized at all, and if anything pops up, it's Explorer. I tried to install drivers from the disc that came with the camera, but keep getting a message that says I don't need to. I've tried to manually add the camera with the "add hardware" function, but it won't work.
What equipment and software do I need to place multiple live cameras in a house I plan to renovate and have the ability to view the screens from my residence in an adjoining county? I have a Dell 8300, 2.6ghz clock speed, 1 gig RAM, 80 gig hard drive. There are two lesser machines in my residence connected through a home network; cable modem, router, hub, then PC's.
When I put a CD/DVD in or plug in my digital camera it no longer runs automatically. The dinging sound that is offiliated with plugging in the camera occurs, but nothing pops up. Where do I go to change this setting so that it will pop up with my options as soon as I plug in the camera or put in a CD or DVD?
The ubiquitous svchost is causing problems on my computer. This problem has been going on a couple of months, slowly I've been getting a handle on it which seems to concern my scanner, although its been connected to the computer for years, it still works happily. I have not added anything, would have contributed to the problem, apart from regular updates from Microsoft, AVG etc. The version of svchost running is part of Windows Image Acquisition. It tends to be using somewhere between 6 and 20% of the processor. But the part which eventually causes the computer to slow down and crash is that it is adding about 100 handles a second, as seen in task manager. The computer gets slow, the screen doesn't refresh properly
ive got an epson 1000ics all in one printer using windows xp home. For some reason, the scanner stopped working. I used to scan using the camera and scanner wizard because the scan button on the printer never has worked. Now it shows the printer being an image scanner but there's no little arrow beside it. I don't think it's being recognized, but the printer works perfectly. The error says the install shield engine (ikernal.exe) could not be launched. the rpc server is unavailable.
Everybody who ownes a Mustek 600 II N scanner and want to install it under XP will notice it won't work. Mustek's website says the scanner is not supported under Windows XP.select the exact drivers by looking up the first two letters of the serialnumber found under the barcode on the backside of the scanner. Before installing the driver click right on the .exe file and go to properties, compatibility and select 'Windows NT4' from the pulldown menu. Now install the drivers and it should work. I'm running Windows XP PRO here but i'm sure it will work under XP Home too.If you own another, unsupported Mustek scanner you can try the same
I installed Uniblue Driver Scanner and paid for it on the advice of DivX. It reports 4 outdated drivers supposadly replaced them but upon rescan it reported that they still needed updating. There appears to be no uninstall.
Not sure if this is the correct forum... I am looking for a free driver for my IBM PC Camera Pro Max, Model XVP600, it was a good cam and worked well under windows 98se, but now i have updated to Windows XP pro and am wondering if there are drivers out there which allow this cam to work with XP.
Last year I purchased a new digital Sony video recorder (TRV245E) and together with a quite new PC (operated by OS Windows XP Pro) and the software which came together with the Sony video on an installation CD the recorder works properly together with the PC. This year at first I explored this Sony's interface programe more deeply and there I've got the problem:The software program is: ImageMixer ver 1.5 for Sony made by Pixela.Connection cable between camera and my PC: USB cable.I know that the USB port on my computer is version 2.0.The software creates .mpg or .avi files. Hence I should use ordinary CD-R, not DVD. Problem: The ImageMixer interface program never delivers any sound, neither to the new created file nor when only exploring the video tape on my PC.
