I've had problems with Internet Explorer ActiveX security settings. I get the following Internet Explorer dialog box message: "your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page...
Here's when it happens: 1.when my Windows desktop is loading, I get the message. Once I click OK in the message box, Desktop appears to finish loading correctly. 2.When Im working in Windows Explorer, and click on a folder in the left pane, the right pane remains blank and the message box pops up, 3.When I open Control Panel, the message pops up and Im unable to open any selections such as Add/Remove Programs, 4.When I try to run Norton Antivirus, nothing happens. Other aspects of Norton Systemworks are not affected.

I can't figure out what Active X is, or if I should allow it. I read about how Firefox doesn't use or allow Active X. I assume there's a security problem somewhere, but I just don't understand. What if I don't allow Active X? Do I miss some things?
Problems running activeX on my computer. used to get a yellow bar at the top of my screen asking if I wanted to run active X does not come up anymore and can not get some programs to work without it. Also can not download from a link directly without having to right click and save target as.
While trying to send free email birthday card, when it opened got a box that said click for active x, when I did got another msg that said there was an error and it cleared the card.
I know that there is an area in th system for active x, but I cannot recall how to locate it to see if there is an item that needs to be enabled.
Whenever I go to 2 webpages/websites a little warning pops up saying click to run as Active x control on this webpage. Doesn't do it anywhere else. What do I need to do so this will stop popping up.
Some webpages take forever to load and sometimes don't respond at all. I figured, maybe wrongly, that my Active X Contols are not set to get the most out of the internet since I usually get a little notice at the top of the page saying my Active X settings won't allow this or that.
How do I make sure my Active X controls are set so I can get the most out of the internet?
And if it's not Active X, I'd like to find out what it is.
I USE MUSICMATCH JUKEBOX, I NEEDED SOME HELP, AN ACTIVE X PROGRAM WAS GOING TO SCAN MY PC AS PART OF THEIR TECH ASSISTANCE. I BLOCKED IT. NOW I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO UNBLOCK IT ?
I keep getting the error message on boot that "Your current security settings prohibit running Active X controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly." However,I.E. setting are all set to default.
I have no idea whether this is an appropriate question, whether it is related to XP,SP2. On the internet I frequently get an Active X error message. I understand that to solve the problem I should change my security setting from HIGH to MEDIUM. Is that worth doing? Should the security setting be as high as possible?
We do not know about Active-X and wonder what it is.How can we tell if we have it? Is it needed or not needed on our notebook (WinXPsp2; IE6; Norton Internet Security 2005)?
I have an OEM xp installation CD which has been installed in one computer already, for now I wanna install it in another one, how much for the active fee will I pay and how to process?
I tried to use a web page for tracking a flight I got a message that"Java" was not installed.I went to a Java page for the XP SP2 download and was instructed to go to Sun Micro Systems Inc.to download it. It it safe to use this? What is it for?
I have no "Information Bar" to click on to allow Active X. Trying to download Adobe Flash Player in conjunction with IE 7. Comcast cable connection. Went to my Daughter's favorite site "Barbie.com" and I recv. home page with pink background which is normal but I have small red X's in the top left corners where pictures should be displayed. Adobe Flash player not download at all. Page moves slightly downward as if Info Bar wants to appear but it doesn't.
When i run a scan, this keeps popping up: C:WINDOWSsystem32MacromedFlashFlash6.ocx Its driving me crazy! How can I fix this problem? Its related to the Adobe flash player/reader. And I have never had this problem before.
I noticed that my CPU Usage History under the performance tab on my task manager shows only 1 graph. I am sure that there should be 2 graphs there since I have a E6600 Intel Core 2 Duo processor and I can still remember that when I installed my Windows Xp for the 1st time, I have 2 set of graphs for each core of my Core 2 Duo. I feel that there's something wrong... Is my active core only 1 instead of 2? Is there something wrong with my Hardware? My OS? how can I resolve this? right now Im running windows Xp SP 3,.
I have XP media edition and I was putting a jpg file on my desktop last week when it said something about active desktop. I was in a hurry so I clicked it and since then my desktop icons have dark blue labels, indicating that it is in active desktop mode, I guess.I don't like it but I can't find any way to get out of it and get back to normal. There is nothing in the help files about it or online as far as I can see.I even tried that program that reverts you to a previous day but that didn't work either.
When I click Display Desktop Customize I don't have a "Web" tab. I can't figure why I can't get an active desktop.I'm on Windows XP SP2 and IE 6. Any ideas?
I am running Win2kPro.Quite often when I reboot, everything loads fine with the cursor working but I cannot access anything including the start button. I try ctr/alt/delete and shut down running programs but still no help.I cold reboot a couple of times and finally get the white screen saying to restore active desktop - I do this and every thing is back to normal. That is the reason I think it may have something to do with active desktop but I am not sure.
My active windows random and frequently become inactive. I'll be in the middle of typing or browsing and all of a sudden, it will be as if I chose some other window and this one is not the main active window. while I'm trying to play a game, when it knocks me back out to my desktop and I have to maxmize the window again.
I am using a 22" wide screen monitor. I am have 2 windows open side by side. IE on the left and MS Word on the right. Is it possible to make both of these active or "on top" or "front" at the same time? As it stands now I when I am using IE and I want to go over to Word, I have to click on word first to make it active and then click again. I realize it's only 1 extra click,If there is a way to this whether it be a setting or a plugin or 3rd party software.
I'm on the internet (in IE7, Windows XP), I click a link or right-click and open link in new window. Then I click back to the first window and continue reading. When the second page has opened not even fully loaded, it becomes the active window, jumps to the front,
Similarly, when I start an application and then click back to my open webpage, when the app has loaded it becomes active. Again, this isn't the case with all software. If I start the Crystal Reports software, it doesn't steal focus. However, if I start an existing Crystal file, it does. If I start any of the MS Office programs, they don't steal focus. If I open an Excel file that contains macros (and displays the Disable / Enable macros options when started), then it does.
Every time i try to open any thing (image, zip file, video) basically any file that sends makes windows sends the (%1) argument to the associated program (meaning when zip files makes windows calls for winrar, or videos makes it call for VLC) I get thoes programs windows behind the original window and it gets pretty bad when that happens with a "force always on top" window, I just can't reach for the window behind.
I got the urge to look at my "Cookies" file a to see if I should delete any of them. I went into "Explore" and could not find a folder listed anymore for Cookies( it was once there). My favorite sites recognize me when I return so cookies must be active.
My Daughter has a dell inspiron 1200 running XP that is about 5 yrs old and had slowed to a crawl, so she bought a new one when she graduated from college. I reformated and reinstalled XP and all the drivers and added a gig of ram. Runs great now but now the standby or hibernate is no longer active and I can't figure out what to do.
