UFO Floating Across Screen When Using Internet Explorer?
Dec 27, 2013
I have recently purchased a new laptop with windows 8.When I go to internet explorer and open a website, I am often seeing a small UFO flying across the screen. It makes a sound similar to the old space invaders arcade game. Has my laptop been hacked and can I stop this? It does not occur one only one particular website. It can occur at any time. Can I stop this. I have never seen this before on previous pc's.

use Chrome as my main browser and I've recently downloaded Firefox. But sometime today i have realized that I do not have IE11 (I have Windows 8.1) installed. Perhaps I uninstalled it or something has happened. I want to know how to install back another IE11. I have check microsoft's Website:
I then was looking through my Program Files I found that my IE folder was still there. There was something called iexplore.exe (as seen in my screenshot) [URL].... and I want to know if that app will install my IE back? Even thoug it is not critical, I would still like to know how to get it back.

I cannot paste the TSG SysInfo! When I open Internet Explorer
"This page cannot be displayed" or "Website doesn't appear to be valid" appears.
I also have problems with "LAN" settings. When using Google and going to a webpage I receive a message that No proxy server available or page cannot be displayed. I have changed the settings in Google settings and Internet Explorer but this message keeps returning. What can I do other than keep changing the settings?

Why has my Internet Explorer, (msn.com) app on the Start screen decided to start opening on the Desktop. I did have an IE in my taskbar for opening it on the desktop. I ' Unpinned' the one on the Taskbar but it doesn't make any difference, it still opens on the Desktop. It has to have a simple answer! In fact I've just noticed that 'Wordpad' & 'Notepad' are acting the same way!

I'll be in desktop mode in Windows 8 using Chrome or Internet Explorer and will swipe the touchpad of my Sony laptop sometimes and the computer will switch to the Metro verion of IE... I don't understand what I'm doing that is causing that. Is there some touchpad movement that causes apps to switch or that causes the computer to turn on the Metro version of Internet Explorer? Is there any way to turn it off? I haven't been able to reproduce it when I want to, it just sort of happens on its own.

I've recently installed Start Menu 8 to create a win 7 menu and bypass the tiles, but now I don't see IE 10 listed anywhere. Where could it go? I didn't think you could get rid of IE10. I use Chrome as my default browser, but I would like to open IE 10 if needed.
How do I get IE 10 back? Reinstall?

About two weeks ago I began to notice strange behavior on my PC which made me think it may be a virus. Some examples:
1. When I'm online a message window frequently appears stating "internet explorer has stopped working"
2. Some websites do not display adverts on the page. I've attached a screenshot from youtube to illustrate what I'm referring to.
3. Some webpages will not load. I keep seeing "webpage under maintenance at this time". This is typical for websites at certain times but to see it every time I try to access is suspicious.
4. I use Hotmail and typically the first time I start it up in the day I notice that the first email I open causes the entire page to go blank as if it erases everything on it, it then reopens with all of my emails listed and finally the email I began to read will reopen. This only happens after I boot my system and open the first email. This will not happen on any other computer.
5. I seem to be having issues installing certain programs. They won't install citing various reasons such as outdated files, incompatible etc. These were all working flawlessly prior to reformatting my system.
6. I'm unable to post messages even though I'm logged in. When I type a message I see the timer cycling but it never posts my messages, it's as if it's stuck in a loop or frozen.
Having felt that a system reformat was in order I did just that not more than a week ago. Everything was reinstalled and updated. Once all the Windows 8 files were installed I began to notice the exact same problems surfacing immediately. I'm currently using Win 8 with IE 10. 16 GB RAM, 64 bit OS. The computer itself is an HP and a year old.

Is there a way to have my Suddenlink email service linked to the mail button on windows 8. When I click on it I get a message that says Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed. If this is not possible what is the easiest way to access my email from Suddenlink?

So basically, IE11, independent of what the settings for Windows 8.1 is, will ALWAYS have autocorrect on and there's no easy way to disable it. I actually even encountered an official bug report were an MS employee closed it stating that "this is by design for now".
Without further ado, spell-checking is controlled by C:WindowsSystem32MsSpellCheckingFacility.dll. You'll want to rename this to something, say MsSpellCheckingFacility(2).dll, to disable this.
For those not technically inclined, note that this is a system file and it may cause some problems. Specifically, if you want Windows 8 to spell check for you but not IE11. You'll also need to take ownership of said file if you want to rename it. See Take Ownership of a File, Folder, Drive, or Registry Key in Windows 8.

I have a similar problem with EI 11 on my PC with Windows 8.1, which is fully updated. It happens whenever I try to "Save as" a download or to print a web page.
So far I have reset it, opened it as administrator and turned off smart screen filter - to no effect.
Should I try to disable EI from the Uninstall Programs - Turn Windows on or off?

I want to re-install Internet Explorer into my Win 8 pro. I am using a Toshiba Laptop Satellite. I have tried to download and install other version of Win 8 pro, but I receive an error message saying that Internet Explorer is already installed in my system. However, I have tried searching for it, and I can't find it anywhere.
Where is Internet Explorer installed in my Win 8 Pro edition, if I have deleted all of it from my OS?
Also, how to re-install Internet Explorer so that I can use it again.
I have tried to set it as a default browser, but this method does not work.

Internet Explorer 11 will only open if I right click and then select Run As Administrator. If I don't do this, the window opens, then closes straight away without doing anything. Links in Incredimail will not open in it either
.
Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox work fine (and with the Incredimail links). I have not added any programs recently. I have tried a clean boot, I have disabled all the add ons, I have checked/unchecked Enable Enhanced Protected Mode, I have made Google Chrome the default browser, then changed back to IE11, I have run Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Super Anti Spyware, Windows Defender and CCleaner, checked for Windows updates...all to no avail. Tried a system restore as well, but no joy.

After upgrading my OS to Win 8.1 Pro, (upgraded from 8.0) when using Explorer it keeps locking up and hangs the entire machine - the mouse freezes and the entire thing locks up, the only way to recover is to reboot the PC.
Looking at it, it looks like it might be caused by pop ups from the page I am viewing at the time - If I use IE it locks up on the initial page, if I switch to Chrome the point where IE locks up is the same point that Chrome opens a second window within the main window.
I cannot access anything, cannot get task manager or switch programs, nothing - I have to power off and restart.

The IP camera I'm using UCam247 1080P uses ActiveX so IE is my only option. If I use Chrome/FF the manual record controls disappear, so I'd really like to get this working with IE again. 7 days ago the camera was working OK using 192.168.0.39 (an auto assigned IP on set-up), but then having used it for 2 months the IP suddenly changed automatically and the camera dropped connection. The IP now is 192.168.0.4.
The problem seems to be related to me having changed the default password. It seems as though IE is remembering the new password and when the camera changed the IP, the password seems to have defaulted to the standard password. But IE now won't let me change this password, nor access the camera. At least this appears to be the issue.
Fast forward to now, the IP now assigned is 192.168.0.4 which is fine. But when I try to access this in IE, I get this message:
"Access Error: Unauthorized
when trying to obtain /en/player/activex_hd.asp
Access to this document requires a User ID"
I've tried everything I can think of to get IE working. Updates to latest V11, added IP to Compatibility View Settings, enabled all ActiveX controls, reset the browsing and password history, unchecked auto complete for passwords.
It's odd that this password box below is not popping up, so I can change the password. Image taken from another PC.

I have been always a Microsoft person. But I have tried any and all fixes to try and get internet explorer to stop coming up with internet explorer has stopped working will search for a problem.
I as of today have disabled it and are using another browser that does not have this bug in it. I am having no trouble with the browser I am using, and it does not stop working like ie 11. I do not think you should have to go threw all hoops and loops to get this to work correctly. Microsoft should come up with something that works correctly all the time and you do not have to check add ins, disable other items or what not.

My IE was working properly yesterday, then all of a sudden I hit refresh and there's no sidebar. Not in 32/64 bit, not in incognito mode, gone on both the metro and desktop versions. It's gotten quite frustrating now as I am unable to have any kind of interaction with chat, there's just nothing there.

I just noticed something while inspecting IE11 with a tool called "spy++" (don't be alarmed by the name, it's a standard tool provided by Microsoft) and any hint on what this new (?) feature of IE is. To replicate my finding just launch a new Internet Explorer instance and navigate to the following two urls one right after the other:
[URL]
If you do this and then inspect Internet Explorer with the spy++ tool you will notice that the first web page is still there, just stashed away (you may want to have a look at the attached screenshot to see what I mean). I haven't seen this happening with previous versions of IE.
- How is this feature called?
- Is there an option in the settings of IE to enable/disable this feature?
