How to reset the internet driver back to it's default settings?
Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit
I've been having troubles with my internet connection for about 3 weeks. It all started like the 4th day after they installed the service. First couple of times it would only happens once or twice a day, but lately is been happening about 10 to 20 times a day. Pretty annoying since I am an online gamer and I have invested some money on games where I can get perma-banned.
I can be either talking on skype, or in the middle of a match and internet will disconnect and show No internet access Limited Connectivity. Every time I use troubleshoot problems, I always get the same result "default gateway not available" and if I do what windows tells me to reset the modem nothing happens, my computer reconnects with the limited connectivity sign.
And in worst cases, it happens over, and over, and over again so I have to unplug the modem and then reboot my computer for it to work, but the last couple of times that I've done that, computer doesn't connect to the internet and the troubleshooter says the Wi-fi is disabled, and asks if I want to fix it as administrator.
At first I thought it was the company's fault until I noticed that sometimes when my computer has no internet connection, I can still use my the internet on my ipod. That doesn't happen always, though.

I can set up sharing of my internet connection with the WiFi hotspot connection and it works fine until I restart my PC.
Then it reverts to a different setting and I have to manually change it back.
Is there a way to make the internet connection sharing settings permanent?
Sometimes when I start up my PC, my internet won't work because the wrong driver is being loaded.
This is the driver that sometimes loads up 82579LM"
Then when I do a "scan for hardware change", it'll load up the correct driver and my internet will start working 82579V:
This happens with the default driver that Windows 8 installs and the one from Intel's website as well:

Is there a way to setup network profiles or something so that when I bring my Surface Pro to work and connect to the wireless network there it will use the static ip address I have but when I disconnect and then connect to my home wifi it will go back to DHCP? On my MacBook Pro I can go into the network settings and change the location profile I have setup for networks but I don't see anything like this for Windows 8.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Asus Laptop operating with Windows 8.1. It connects to wifi but none of the desktop icons can get to the Internet. Meanwhile most window tiles in the start menu have Internet access . For example I have the application "MegaTube" and that application has access to the Internet. As well as the weather app, which updates when connected to the Internet.

Simply for the home desktop and want to share with other kit on the home network.
When I boot up it appears I have to always tweak the settings :
1) Control Panel > System > Change settings > Network ID and select under "Select the option that best describes your network" so I opt for I tick "this is a home computer; it's not part of a business network."
2 )The reboot.
All works fine and all devices can be seen and read/write in accordance with the appropriate share settings.
Now the issue is when I next reboot the
Control Panel > System > Change settings > Network ID and select under "Select the option that best describes your network" will default to "This computer is part of a business network; I use it to connect to other computers at work".
So I have to got through steps 1 and 2 again.
How to I get Windows 8.1 Pro x64 to default to the "this is a home computer; it's not part of a business network." on each boot without having to manual configure.
As mentioned I have a USB network dongle that I use as a second network card. On my stationary pc it installed the driver automatically when plugged into the USB-port and it works perfectly. When I plug it into my laptop it also installs the driver automatically but.. the driver doesn't work and I have an exclamation mark saying the driver isn't working properly. I have tried reinstalling the driver countless times - no luck.
Both machines run the same version of Windows 8. What can I do?
EDIT: It's a Bluetooth device.
It was working earlier but couple of hours later when I booted up my Windows 8 laptop.. There was a red x on the network I was trying to connect to and a message saying my computer settings not matching.
I looked it up on youtube and I tried selecting "No authentication" and for encryption type I chose "None". But still didn't work.
Sometimes it would say limited first then when I try to reconnect the message above will appear.

It runs fine then all of a sudden will stop.
Phones, xbox, tablets, chromecast, other laptops all work fine.
I've recently begun encountering connectivity problems. Seemingly randomly, the wifi connection becomes limited and webpages/games time out. Whenever I repair the connection it is always at the "reset wi-fi adapter" step that it seems to resolve the issue.
Steps I've taken thus far are:
Uncheck the box under my network adapters settings that said "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"show hidden devices under the network adapter device manager and try to uninstall all but my ethernet and wifi connections. aside from these two connections I wanted to keep, there were two bluetooth devices that I don't use/need, two adapters hidden with odd names, and quite a few WAN miniports. I tried uninstalling all of these...some uninstalled, others uninstalled but came back with a restart, and some wouldn't uninstall at all.
Anyway, below is my ipconfig:

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with ICS on win 8. On my old laptop (win xp) I used to be able to share my 3Connect dongle internet to connect to Xbox live. I recently got a new laptop with win 8 and whenever I share this internet connection I can never connect on my Xbox (the network to internet part fails). When everything is connected up and shared the Ethernet says 'Unidentified Network' which i believe is the cause of the problem. I've read i may require a driver update but i cannot seem to find one.

what to do, maybe i am not setting up the connection sharing properly?
After update to Windows 8.1 my internet connect keeps disconnecting. Hard land wire (Ethernet) and wireless connections does this. I've already switch modems/routers. Tech came out everything outside looks good. Getting message Default Gateway Not Available.

About every 10 minutos this occurs and I lose internet connection. When I troubleshoot it displays default gateway not available and it is fixed. Then about 10-15 minutes later it loses connection again. I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew and nothing. I also uninstalled drivers and installed new ones and nothing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a new laptop (Samsung Ativ 7) and it worked great for a week on the router I have at home. I just moved into university housing and the wifi seemed to work for about a day, but since then (about 3 days now) it continuously disconnects from the internet. Like every 30 seconds... It's bad. If I'm lucky I'll get a few minutes, though strangely the problem seems to be getting worse each day and my time online seems to be getting shorter each day.
When I run the troubleshooter, it says the default gateway is not available and "fixes" the problem, which lasts for a few seconds/minutes before it reverts. Every now and then the problem will be "Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration." That problem gets "fixed" and the internet never works, instead I have to trouble shoot again to see the gateway one, then I get a little bit of wifi. Lately I have to run troubleshooter multiple times before I get any results.
I think I'm having DNS issues, but what the cause or the solution is, I do not know... The lease is always listed for about 5 minutes (though I don't always make it that far) and when I try to connect the college VPN service, it says "Limited Access - DNS Failure."

For the last week or so, I've been having issues with my ASUS notebook disconnecting from my wireless network or having a limited connection. This would happen maybe twice a day, but eventually I went online and I found that I had an outdated driver for my Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230, and as soon as I downloaded the latest driver, my notebook would disconnect every 5 minutes or so. Running the troubleshooter just keeps returning the same thing; Default gateway not available. It also does this annoying thing where it'll disconnect and reconnect over and over again, so quickly that the network sharing center can't even register it's happening. I've tried resetting the WINSOCK, IPv4 TCP/IP, and IPv6 TCP/IP stacks, I've tried a clean boot to see if it was a startup program affecting my connections, and I've changed my power settings so they don't turn off my adapter. I even tired booting my computer in safe mode, which didn't work.

I'm trying to set up my router to the new internet connection and get the wifi going but for the life of me I cant get it set up. The internet connection itself is fine, from modem to pc. Once I have the modem in the mix,it gets no/limited connectivity and cannot reach the setups. I have tried the classic 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.1.1 and about 5 other variations, along with 'http://router'. My router is a Belkin N300 Wireless N Router. If I use a command prompt and do 'ipconfig', there is no ip address beside 'gateway default' once the router is connected. I have reset my router to factory settings. I've tried using a static ip address for my computer [though not sure if i did it correctly]. My DHCP is enabled.

Every 5 - 20 minutes on my CenturyLink home internet, I get Limited access internet only. Troubleshooting or turning on / off airplane mode typically solves it.
I tried Device Power Management (not allowing it to turn off the adapter to save power) but that hasn't worked. I disable / re-enabled the device (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230)

Okay, so in Windows 7 I am able to connect my wireless to my phone, and run an ethernet cable over to my Xbox. If I use the ICS feature and configure it under services to allow ports 88 and 53 UDP, it works fine. This also allows my Xbox to seemingly add to this list of ports as it finds necessary.
The issue is however, with Windows 8, although I can connect to Xbox Live the same way, it does not seemingly allow the Xbox to add more ports that it deems necessary. This leads to that NAT error message that I am actually trying to do this as a way to bypass it.
In Windows 7 this only works if the connection is set to Home (not sure about Work), but not public. I'm curious if the reason this does not work in Windows 8 is that Windows 8 does not have a Home option, but rather only Private or Public settings. There is some small setting buried deep somewhere that I just need to change to treat it like Windows 7 allows Xbox to treat home networks and configure/add ports automatically.
How can i create local WIFI network without having internet access on my pc. This seems to work if I have access to internet but when i disconnect internet connection my PC ( virtual router ) cannot see anymore other devices..
All other devices that are connecting to my virtual hostednetwork are working without any problems expect my pc. What have i missed that my PC where virtual hostednetwork is running cannot see devices in "virtual" network without internet access?
I had a previous thread with my Windows 8.1 OS (8.1 - Wireless Adapter shuts off). I thought it was solved, but after a couple of days, it happened again.
I reformated my System Partition, installed a clean Windows 8 Pro version (Because i didn't had the problem before i upgraded to Win 8.1) and now i have the same issues.
Installed the latest drivers from Intel (Didn't fix it)
Installed the drivers that came with my laptop for windows 8 (Didn't fix it)
Disabled the Power Management setting to turn of the adapter
Changed my DNS (Because i was also getting the 'Default Getaway' problem (Didn't fix it)
Did the DISM thing, nothing
I'm starting to think that this is a problem on the Hardware Level? I could try to go back to Windows 7, but i'm afraid i'll have the same problem...
I recently purchased a new Asus laptop and have been having problems with my home network. I get disconnected probably once every 15 minutes and when the trouble shooter was run I get "default gateway unavaliable"
I believe this is due to my router. I have Comcast and it seems whenever I am connected to mine (or my girlfriends same model and make) I get disconnected but at my parent's house I dont have any problems.
I talked to the ASUS people and was given a driver that didnt work (as far as I know I installed it correctly) and was also told to refresh my computer to factory settings incase it was something I installed. Neither worked.
Here is my IPconfig date (I have unchecked the 'allow computer to turn off to conserve power' option)

I see that the constant "default gateway is not available" error is a common one for Windows 8. My connection drops every five minutes or less. It appears to get much worse when my brother is online on his computer on the same network. I've searched for solutions before, but none have worked so far. I've manually set the IP, I've turned off the power management option on the network, I've restarted my computer, I've made sure that my driver is updated,

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a brand new Samsung Laptop for work. I dont know a ton about windows 8 either im fairly new to it. I work at a mental hospital doing security and we are allowed to have a laptop for over night shifts. I have an Alfa wireless antenna (cause i get low signal where im stationed) along with my normal laptop Wifi.
Heres the story. I was using my laptop antenna then out of no where it said "Identified Network (no internet access)" then my internet just stopped. I had this happen on my old laptop and it lasted a few days then worked like normal again. Then i switched to mt usb antenna and it worked fine for about 20 mins then all of a sudden it went it "Identified Network (no internet access)". So I was stuck with no internet. I tried looking up fixes on my ipod and i tried 3 Ways To Fix The Unidentified Network Error in Windows 8 and it didnt work I tried How To Fix Unidentified Network Windows - YouTube and it didn't work either. I'm dying here cause I have to sit in a room for 12 hours tonight with no way to keep my self from falling asleep or entertained.
I cannot connect to my wireless anymore (all other devices in my home do) since windows has automatically installed the drivers for my canon printer.
In PC setting i do not have the button wireless anymore (i am pretty sure that i had it last week). Wi-Fi (Qualcomm Atheros AR964x) is in my network connections, but cannot connect. Diagnoses says problem with wireess adapter or access point.
So what did i do until now : I have restarted the whole interne installation ( rounter, and all other devices) many times Atheros driver is up to date and device status is "working properly"
i dont know anymore what to do more (except switching to linux and not being able to use some commerical software i rely on for my work) :-(
