Network / Sharing :: Computer Does Not Connect To Internet Automatically

Feb 21, 2013

Whenever I boot up my computer, I always have to go and connect to the internet. It doesn't automatically connect to the internet. I don't want to do this anymore. I tried clicking "Connect Automatically," but that didn't solve the problem. I also tried troubleshooting. It found some problems, and it was the problems were fixed but it still doesn't work.

Network / Sharing :: Windows 8 - Computer Crashed Now Not Able To Connect To Internet

Mar 5, 2014

My computer hard rive recently crashed and was sent off to manufacturer to be supposedly fixed. Once I got it back my internet connection was spotty. Internet explorer would often stop working. It got to a point that I could not connect tonetworks, I tried multiple networks. This occurred a week before I left the country and didn't have much time to look into it.

I am connecting to a network and only getting "limited connectivity". My iPhone and iPad are able to connect. I've spent a few hours playing with it and googling. I get the message "one or more network protocols are missing on this computer". When I check the network connections it says IPv4 Connectivity: No Internet Access. IPv6 Connectivity: No Internet Access.

I have Windows 8.

Network / Sharing :: Modem Router Replaced - Desktop Computer Won't Connect To Internet

Sep 15, 2014

Two days ago my ISP replaced my modem-router for a new one. Ever since the replacement, my main desktop computer won't connect to the internet "immediately". I checked the connection via ethernet and WiFi with my other computers (even tested every single one of my ethernet cables) and they work perfectly fine, except for my main desktop computer.

What my desktop does:

When I turn it on I have to wait for around an hour before it connects to the internet. During that hour, it attempts to identify something (I guess the IP? - the yellow warning icon gets displayed) and after 3 seconds of attempting, the connection drops and it goes back to saying "No connection". The connection is being made via Ethernet cable and I tried the troubleshoot but it continues to say that I need to plug-in a ethernet cable to my computer, thing is it is already plugged in and like I stated above, the cable worked fine with all my other computers. My desktop used to work perfectly fine with my old modem-router.

I attempted to do do some troubleshooting refreshing my ip using the cmd with admin privileges but nothing worked as it said every time that there was no media connection. My desktop just randomly connects to the internet by itself after an hour of attempting to connect and disconnecting and once it gets connected it works perfectly fine until I restart my computer or turn it off and then the next day it'll be the same thing over again.

This has gotten extremely annoying, what can I do to fix this and further prevent it from happening? - I updated all my drivers and it's still the same. It'll just connect to the internet whenever it wants to.

A cold boot results in no network connection. My network displays as available, but the PC can't see it. A warm reboot connects as it should. Checked for driver updates to the Intel adapter 4965AGN, only to see Intel no longer supports it, and Dell tells me I have the newest driver available for this 9400 Inspiron. All worked well with Win 8, but no joy with 8.1. May have to check into a newer adapter for this laptop - if such a thing is available.

When I click any of those tiles, it opens and a message pops up and says the app cannot connect to the internet. The network indicator on top-right side of the tile also shows 'Offline'. Network / Sharing :: Unable To Connect To Internet With Firefox At New Location

Jun 13, 2014

Yesterday, I decided to relocate my PC from one room to the other. Not a big deal I would assume. However, I was unable to connect to the internet with Firefox at the new location. I checked my signal strength to my router and it seemed fine. So I opened Task Manager and checked the WiFi performance chart, what I saw were very brief moments of connectivity, meaning I could connect to the internet for about 10 seconds, then it would stop, but the signal to the router would still appear strong. This would repeat constantly about once every minute or so. I've been trying to fix this for the past day and I could not find an answer anywhere. I've tried to restart everything, I've tried to reset some network settings, and I've tried messing with the local/ static IP address. I doubt it's a problem with the IP address though. On an additional note, whenever I run the Windows Network Troubleshooter, it tells me to restart my router (Which obviously didn't work).

So I uninstalled the driver and apparently it took the internet with it because my laptop can't find any wireless networks now and what's worse is that I've been using my Microsoft Account to login and I don't have any other accounts on the start screen to login with. I basically can't do anything.

I use my Windows 8.1 for everything, but there are times when I'm somewhere else in the house where I'd like to access anything/everything on it. I have Wifi AC through a dlink router. I also have wired ethernet through the house. Thats not the problem, just how to connect the main computer to every other computer in the house either wifi or wired. If I'm out in the garage and I want to see my desktop computer on my mac book pro how can I do it. Also... I installed splashtop on each computer, but haven't figured it out if its the right software. I guess I need the right words to make the questions I have ask understandable for everyone.

Simply put I want to be able to access my Mac book pro and my Android S3 phone to be able to access everything on my desktop computer.

How To Automatically Connect To Hidden Network

May 8, 2014

When I upgraded to Win8.1, it asked if I wanted to automatically connect to my hidden network. I've never set up a hidden network. Sometimes it shows up in my list of WiFi connections. My computer also shows me as belonging to a workgroup, which I never joined. Then one day another network showed up called TOA24 and it was set up to automatically connect. Now it shows up every time I connect to my WiFi connection. Is it possible to determine how my computer joined a workgroup without my knowledge or created a hidden network? I have Norton Security Suite (through Comcast) running on this computer.

Network / Sharing :: Internet Not Working With 2nd Win 8 Computer Same WiFi Connection

Jul 13, 2014

I am facing a strange problem with my internet connection on Windows 8.

I have a netgear WNR612 wifi router and two laptops connected to it running Windows 7 on first and Windows 8 on second.

The connection in Windows 8 laptop shows sufficient signal strength but when I try to access internet, it does only shows connecting. I have changed browsers, wifi router, adsl router, released and reconnected IP address, forgot and re-added wifi network, reset wifi router to factory almost everything.

The strange part is that as soon as the other Windows 7 laptop is disconnected from the network, Windows 8 internet start working fine. I have tested this many times and there is no doubt in this behavior.

I dont know whether the problem is in any update installed on Windows 8 the older Dell Wireless 1703 wifi card or some virus in the other Windows 7 laptop.

My ipconfig output:

Ethernet adapter Bluetooth Network Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : F4-B7-E2-59-1E-42

[Code] .....

Note that I have assigned preferred IP addresses to both laptops based on MAC.
