Whenever I try to burn a video dvd or an ISO file through Nero burning ROM or Nero Express, at the time of giving burn command it shows cancelled by the user where as burning data DVD or CD through the same procedure is no problem at all. This problem had started with Nero 2014 Platinum v15.0.03400 Final & is still persisting with Nero 2014 Platinum v15.0.03500 Final, Nero 2014 Platinum v15.0.02500 Final shows no such behaviour.
Also some patches to make some apps work do not open properly but if I try the same one in safe mode they run smoothly I've tried to run them by putting the anti virus & smart screen off but all in vain. The rest of the apps in the Nero suite are working absolutely fine. I'm using windows 8 Pro 64 bit version with i7 3rd generation processor & 16 gb Ram.
Im trying to open a quickbooks file on my new windows 8 computer. I have Windows 8.1 activated by phone. I wrote down my key, first part of numbers which is my ID and Confirmation ID which I got from phone bot Will I be able to use this information to activate Windows 8.1 Update 2014?
o.k. long story short before installing 8.1.1 in my real environment i tested it out extensively in vm. i found out that if you get past a certain point with the windows updates bitdefender will not install, if you install bd prior to a certain point it installs and works great even after you do the rest of the windows updates. How to get it installed and working correctly in a fully updated 8.1.1? i have eset smart security in, but i'd rather have my bitdefender.
how can i update (offline / stand-alone) windows 8 x64 SL (Single Language) to windows 8.1 ?
I am using windows 8 SL (Single Language) x64.
I want to update it to windows 8.1 (offline / stand-alone)
how can i do it ??
i already downloaded these much files(see img) from officially released by microsoft from (Download Windows 8.1 Update for x64-based Systems (KB2919355) from Official Microsoft Download Center)
After installing Windows 8 in most cases you have to install .Net Framework 3.5 to be able to install or run some 3rd party application. Recently while browsing the internet I came across an offline installer; one that worked perfectly and was very easy to use.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Offline Installer for Windows 8 Or .NET Framework 3.5 Offline Installer for Win8
I have Windows 8 x64 Enterprise installed and activated through online kms server. my internet is connected and i can browse through my explorers. Some apps such as Mail and internet explorer and store work just fine, but others such as bing and pictures says that i am offline.
I just got a Toshiba Encore tablet that has some form of GPS capability. I need some sort of GPS app or software that I can use offline, or at least figure out how to pre-load areas for offline use.
I have Windows 8 and use classic live Messenger 2012, it connects good but all contacts appear offline, trough Windows 8 messaging all contacts ok, connected and talking.
I tried with built in Windows 8 messaging application connected and disconected but same result. If I connect to other account with live Messenger 2012 all works ok, but with the account that is configured like Windows 8 logging account, don't, it connects but all contacts shown offline.
I just bought a new computer with windows 8.1, and can find no way to disable my internet connection. This is a home computer, and I don't need or want it on all the time. Is there a way to disable it short of disconnecting the Ethernet cord?
Latest updates installed, Windows 8.1 Windows Media Player will not play AVI files. All other file types work fine. Windows Movie Maker won't recognize them either.
After i installed windows update, i notice that my audio/sound is not coming up again. I've restarted my system countless time, and is still not coming up. Have checked the drivers and everything is ok but i can't play songs. Have tried using media player and xbox, but it couldn't play any file (xbox is saying 0xc00d11cd (0x8000ffff) error). My laptop brand is DELL inspiron 15R, windows 8
I made the mistake of updating to Windows 8.1 and now I have trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi at my university. It tells me I have access to internet but at the same time it tells me the DNS sever is not available. I have tried many things but I just can't get it to work. There are also some websites that don't display correctly or work the way they are supposed to. Google being one of them. I don't know what to do so I thought I would just restore to before I updated to 8.1. So I did, but it's still 8.1. I can't go back any further than to the day I updated. Is there any way?
Asus Zenbook ux301LA, i5 Haswell, Intel graphics HD4400, Win 8.1 x64, 2560x1440 display. It came with Win 8, I updated to 8.1. After wake from sleep the scaling is way off, everything is tiny. So I can't use sleep, must do a full shutdown and restart to get back to normal resolution. Asus does not list any graphics drivers for 8.1, only 8. So I got a generic Intel HD graphics driver update from Intel but it didn't fix the issue.
The other strange thing is that it is time dependent. IOW if I wake it soon after I put it to sleep it restores to the correct resolution state. But if I wait longer it doesn't. I put it to sleep and woke it up multiple times and it seems like the change happens after it has been sleeping for about an hour... although I can't say for sure it is always exactly on that schedule. What could be changing in the system while asleep that would do this?
In a way this isn't a big deal since this thing boots up from full shutdown almost as fast as from sleep. But I had intended to use sleep without a password so I don't have to constantly enter that while home, but keep the password on full start up.
having issue with SkyDrive turning "Access all files offline" option OFF automatically in Windows 8.1 Pro? This happens almost daily, sometimes within few hours of turning it on.
I manage a lots of PCs, and this problem is not on just one PC, this happens on a lot of PCs randomly. All these PCs have separate Microsoft accounts.
i'm looking for is 100% available offline, all the time. Never had an issue before this integration of SkyDrive with Windows 8.1.
I updated to Windows 8 today, and everything seemed to be going well until I tried playing music through my headphones. They worked fine on my iPhone, but once I plugged them into my laptop, no sound came out.
I recently, restored my acer m5-581ptg to factory settings, since it is an older version (2012), there were about 111 updates that needed to be installed. That all went fine and then on startup, it starts up and shows the loading sign and 'please wait'.
I tried tapping f8 and shift + f8 with no luck whatsoever, and i also disconnected from power supply and took out battery, and restarted, still starts up 'no funny noises or anything' and then just sits on 'please wait'.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC.
I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 64 bit. I have an ATI mobility radeon HD 5000 series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20) and an intel(R) HD graphics card.
Next to the ATI mobility in device managers, there is an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. when i open it up, it says This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful.
I have tried updating it but it says it is up to date. i have tried going to the HP support page but it only gives me options for a windows 7 computer and says there is nothing for my computer for windows 8.
My computer had 4GB of RAM and an Intel G2030 processor. It worked fine for my needs, but I'm a compulsive tinkerer. I have upgraded to 12GB of RAM (supposed to be 16, but one module of the 16GB kit I purchased was DOA) and to an Intel i5-3550S processor. These were done in two separate installs, and the computer seems to be running fine, as far as I can tell.
My problem is that the System Information screen doesn't seem to be updated with the new processor. It shows the RAM (11.9GB), but still shows the 2-core G2030 processor. When I go to the BIOS, however, it shows the i5-3550S. Is there something I need to do to get this to update? I'd like to be sure that the computer recognizes the new processor...
I just updated to Windows 8.1 Pro, and now the Windows Store isn't launching anymore, the tile expands over the whole screen and then I'm back at the start window. Some other apps did the same thing, such as mail and calendar. I uninstalled those, meaning to reinstall them, but, since the store won't launch I can't do that.
And I don't seem to be able to reinstall the windows store.
That said, I used to have all user files on a separate HDD, moved them by means of the audit mode described here on the forums. I used the same method again to undo the changes, then moved the moveable files as is supported by windows. Everything was working, then I updated.
To my own stupidity I decided to update my computer from Windows 8 to 8.1, every thing would be fine if not for the fact that my screen is now stuck as a letterbox.
The native for my monitor is 1920-1080 and was what I was running at pre-update, after restarting, my screen is confined to a letterbox setting. Changing the resolution does nothing, when looking for a solution I came across a post from this thread:
8.1 upgrade - generic video driver problem
I've got the same graphics card as the OP and have found the same events. My question is what did he mean when he said
"I deleted the AMD leaf-item (Control Panel, Display adapters, AMD Radeon HD 7650D)and rebooted the system." in post 3.
Did he go ahead and un-install it? Clarification on what he exactly done would be great.
btw, if I did go ahead and un-install my graphics card like the OP originally suggested, would it reinstall on restart?
I have had a Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop for about a year. Last month I finally caved and updated to Windows 8.1. Starting two days ago, my laptop has been randomly restarting/dying. I don't know what to do about it. Today it started doing it multiple times.
I have recently purchased an Acer Aspire running Windows 8 and use Outlook as may email facility.
My previous laptop ran on Vista and I was able to see my email folders and work on them offline when no network was available - I could prepare email drafts and save them for sending when connected. I do not seem to be able to do this now.
