Cannot Burn CD+G
Dec 11, 2013
My friend has a new laptop running MS 8. He can burn dvd's and cd's but when he tries to burn a cd+g it will not do it. The file that he is burning is a .bin file extension.also tried with a mpg3 format and it would not work either. He needs to burn it in a KARAOKE format. He has another laptop running MS 7 and there is no problem in burning a CD+G. He also purchased a external dvd/cd writer. He still is unable to burn in the cd+g format with the new laptop.
""It's CD+g. It is a karaoke recording of video the "g" is the graphics flashing on the screen, and the CD is the music of the song that plays as the words move along the display. I tried to burn an mpg3 which is also a karaoke format and it didn't work either.""

I've never burnt an ISO to a DVD Rom. I have created a Windows ISO, and I have a DVD Rom ready in the optical drive. If I right-click on the ISO, I can "open with" Power2Go or with Windows Disk Image Burner. Should I choose one of those two programs and a Win 8 installation disk will be created?

Trying to use Windows to burn files to a DVD. I go into the explorer window. Click share. Then burn to disc. Sometimes it gives me the error that the folder is in the same location of the source folder. And now it just the destination has the same names. And wants me to cancel or replace. If I replace it just hangs there. I used Nero and was able to write to the DVD fine so I know its not a DVD issue. It opens a duplicate window and at the bottom of the files it lists the new files ready to be written.

When attempting to burn ISO files from Windows Explorer, Windows Disc Image Burner takes an extremely long time to do anything then errors out saying:
The disc image didn't burn successfully because an error occurred. (Error code: 0x8007045D)
I have attempted to use Imgburn but it will not even detect my drive.
I have removed all 3rd party dvd software, and uninstalled the dvd drive but it did not work.
I made my system dual boot with linux and everything works fine so I know it is a problem with windows.
On a side note, when in Windows the DVD tray automatically retracts itself when i eject it.

I always get stuck on a couple of steps...things on my screen are not the way it says, or I don't get what is meant, or it sounds like it is assuming the reader knows how to "then, just follow the steps"...but I don't get what is meant by some terminology.
Feel really dumb after having read so many articles and still can't do it. Lots of the articles say to do different things. Not even sure what type of cd to use, I have some on hand I think are okay. Guess I really need a step-by-step walk thru for EACH step.
Comp got really fouled up, and even the built-in refresh or reset made no difference, in fact, made things worse. I want to save the favorites because I'll be reinstalling everything to the way it was new via the recovery discs I had to buy from manufacturer, then I want to be able to put the favorites back on, and hope things are fixed.
here's a link to follow. But I get stuck. Or they will type out the process for doing it, but there's always a few spots where it assumes the reader knows certain stuff.

I was just wondering if I could "Burn" a Virtual XP machine into a ROM -- I only need to run it to access some legacy hardware that I'll be keeping around for a good few years yet -- the ROM would ensure the XP system itself doesn't get altered in any way - I don't need Internet etc on it. I could have the ROM as a keyring FOB which would then be able to be connected to any PC I want. It would boot and operate a lot faster than by running it from a HDD or even an SSD. Only the OS and the hardware drivers / applications need to be installed. I'd use VMware on the HOST systems.

I have some 80 minutes CD-medias, that I want to fill with music for my car. But Windows media Player will only accept up to 74 minutes on each CD. How do I get Media player to split my music-lists in 80 minutes instead of 74 minutes?

I am running Win 8.1 x 64 ... After downloading the iso file for Win 8.1, what can I expect to see?
It is downloading and will be done in 2 hours. Can I just burn it to dvd which I want or will I have to go through installation steps?
The reason I ask is because I have a product key for 8 but not 8.1. I read it can be done with a Win 8 prod key but also read that an 8.1 key is needed.

How do I burn files over to my DVD Disc? With windows 8 there's no "Burn" button when it says "Files ready to be written on the disc". Windows 7 was so much simpler, what do I do now?

I have a 32-bit version of XP on my system, so when I do an upgrade within the XP OS. It automatically upgrades me to the 32-bit Windows 8. The actual installation went fine, without a hitch actually.
I have a 64-bit version of Vista that I may go ahead and do a clean install of first, just so I can upgrade to the 64-bit of Windows 8. But when I was going through the upgrade program, I never saw the option to create the ISO DVD or Flash drive. The only options were, "Install now, or install from desktop later". I chose "install from Desktop later" and found that all it did was suspend the installation until I clicked the desktop icon, which then just loaded the upgrade without giving me the option to create the DVD or Flash disk. Is there somewhere I can download the ISO so that I can create a disk?

I installed Windows 8 Pro on a Dell Studio 1537 laptop that used to run Vista. Win 8 Pro was installed in Dec 2012 and has all Microsoft Windows 8 updates installed.
When I try to burn files on a blank DVD disc using Windows 8's Explorer, I get a message that says:
"Insert a disc Please insert a writable disc into drive M:"
The blank disc is then ejected. Even if I reinsert a different blank DVD disc and try again, the same thing happens.
However, if I open ImgBurn and use the "same" blank DVD disc, ImgBurn recognizes the blank DVD disc and is ready to burn.
It should be noted that I never tried to burn DVDs using Vista's Explorer so I don't know if that ever worked. I just used ImgBurn while I was running Vista. I know I can just use ImgBurn with Windows 8 but I would like to know why Win 8's Explorer won't recognize blank DVD discs. Is this a known problem that has a fix?

I've been backing up "My Documents" with CDBurnerXP because
1. I consider Windows Backups to be opaque and I prefer to keep them simple and to know what is going on
2. Windows Backups does some things I believe are risky so I will not use it
3. Windows 7 had a deep directory structure problem and I presume Windows 8 continues to
4. It's ridiculous to backup "Windows" when I really only care about the safety of my data and since I am a slow typist who can't type at 3 Gigahertz it seems unlikely that I will ever have produced enough data that won't fit in one piece of optical media
5. I prefer to use a backup medium that has no moving parts and no firmware and humidity and mechanical shock resistant and contains no software and nothing vendor specific and blank DVDs are one such medium
6. I don't understand how a "backup DVD" can get scratched if there are never children and animals in the building (movie DVDs are a different matter)
Unfortunately, I can't continue down this route because my Windows 8 is now inside VirtualBox and I can't seem to make CDBurnerXP and Windows 8 recognize a blank DVD as a suitable target for a backup.
I am looking for DVD burning software that is free and is known to work inside VirtualBox.
