Browsers/Mail :: Metro IExplorer Slow And Crashes After Short Time
Apr 23, 2014
Since a few days my Internet Explorer 11 (newest version) crashes after a few short browsing time on my Dell Venue 8 Pro. There are specific mostly high crowded sites I can go to and it will freeze, or just if I tab/surf fast enough for example click links in a row. I had the same problem 3 months ago, and the only solution which worked was to reset Windows, install everything new. It worked so far until a view days ago, it began again to show the same behavior: slow site rendering, and freeze after a short time. The behavior is described for example here too by other users:
IE11 crashing constantly after upgrading to 8.1 - Page 2 - Windows Phone Central Forums [URL] .....
I already tried the following steps without luck:
- reset IE settings to default
- cleared all cache/cookies/settings
- deactivated every plugin (I didnt have any special installed at all, I just deactivated the default ones one Flash, adobe pdf, Intel, to see if it worked, it didn't)
- gave "all installed applications" rights to c:
- did a sfc /scannow
- cleared Windows Store cache (wsreset)
- enable software rendering (which though doesnt have impact on metro ie I think)
New Windows 8.1 laptop. Any time I upload a file in a browser it crashes within seconds. It doesn't matter if I use Opera, Chrome or Firefox.
Also, some applications crash directly after launching them such as SmartFTP, SnagIt Editor and Jing crashes when I save a file. Also, when opening This PC in a file upload dialog sometimes it will keep loading for hours.
I've tried to get more information by clicking Debug after a crash and here are some of the errors I've noticed:
Code: Unhandled exception at 0x66AAF19F (apphelp.dll) in opera.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x0C9E0DA8.Unhandled exception at 0x7720A604 (msvcrt.dll) in Jing.exe: 0xC00000FD: Stack overflow (parameters: 0x00000001, 0x0F6E2FFC).
I've already performed "sfc /scannow" without any issues, reinstalled all software that has these issues , installed all available Windows updates and generally tried applying different settings but nothing seems to work..
I've recently installed a dual boot, Windows 7 and Windows 8. The installation went fine but then after a very short time my Windows 8 Screen goes black. I had to press the power button to exit. When again rebooting into Windows 8 the "blue window" shows and the spinner goes around for about 20 seconds, then all goes black.
I've checked the Power settings and ensured the "Turn off display" was "never". I also updated my Video drivers thinking that might be the problem. Both to no avail. I've done a "Refresh" and a "Reset (which took 3 hrs). Again, all was fine for a short time, but while exploring the OS, again the black screen. What else I could try to fix this Windows 8 problem.
IE Metro tile is missing from my metro start screen. It's not in the 'all apps' list either. when I go to program default, it is set as the default browser. I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have the metro version tile on my start.
I have windows 8.1 it was working fine for a good while but now web pages can be slow loading or dont load at all, if i hit F5 some pages will then load.
I have googled this problem & tried many different possible solutions but none have worked, this problem happens at home on my broadband & at work so i dont think its anything to do with the router.
I have ran malwarebytes & avast many times, the 1st run of malwarebytes it found 2 objects but since they have been removed everything has been clear.
Is there any way to connect my Gmail account to the Mail Metro App without having to use my Live ID? I have absolutely no desire to tie all my stuff to a MS Live ID. Just want to be able to check my mail.
I have already installed Skype desktop to get around the Live ID crap for the metro version, and I will install Thunderbird if needed, but if I can find a way around it I will use the built in mail client.
I'm trying to use the mail app more and haven't found how to insert a photo into the body of an email. I can do this in the Outlook web app but not in the metro mail app.
My parents bought an AX3995-UR20 in the last year, and very little has been downloaded on to it, so mostly the computer has the default programs. I have downloaded Word of Tanks onto it, but nothing other than the default game has been added, and I've experienced no issues with the game itself. Some of the problems I've been having are:
- Google Chrome crashes regularly + This usually happens when multitasking after Chrome is opened; I'll switch to another program (IE, WoT, etc.) and chrome will freeze, and then crash +Issues with Google Chrome also happen to IE + WoT will update its state as I have Chrome maximized (move to another loading screen/ start game) and this seems to be when Chrome crashes. +Chrome will also freeze/crash when I do something in Chrome, such as load a gif, without anything else open - The computer will not update + it asks for a restart to update, and then fails to finish and abandons the update + this also happens when I attempt to force an update - Sometimes, after sleeping, the computer will black screen and needs to be turned off manually before it can be used + I really don't like manually shutting off the computer every other time I need to use it, I don't want to hurt it/ corrupt data -Word has crashed when I attempted to save my document; this has happened only once and could be a fluke - Intel Support Manager tells me it crashed almost every time I log in
I am fairly sure, based on what it happening, that this is a problem with RAM, the computer not being able to handle so much at once; crashes happen during MORE resource intensive times, although I think that the computer should be able to handle these tasks EASILY.
Chrome crashes when more resources/programs used, computer should be able to handle them, however. Windows will not apply updates.
Chrome actually freezes for no reason, too; often, in the middle of browsing a page, it will stop scrolling and then crash.
I am on ff for about 20 to 30 min then boom pc just freezes and locks up only way of fixing is rebooting all my drivers are updated my gpu card is 9800gtx ------VIDEO [URL] ......
When downloading with uTorrent the general browsing is either very slow or impossible (page not responsive). I have implemented following tweaks but have not given it enough time so don't know if they work.
The tweaks were;
Lowering net.max_halfopen to 4 bt.connect_speed to 4 disabling DHT disabling UPnP lowering the global maximum number of connections to 200? 100? 50? (I have chosen 50) disabling UPnP and NAT-PMP lowering the upload slots to 4 limiting the upload limit to 100 kB/s enabling outgoing protocol encryption
I have set listening port to 6881 & have port forwarded this port
I have a fiber optic connection of 95 Mbps downloading and 60 Mbps uploading.
Since running the update for Windows 8.1 there have been certain websites, like the various search engines, Google, Bing, etc. that cause IE 11 to lock up every time I try to use them with Protected Mode running. When I turn off Protected Mode they work just fine. I don't recall having this problem with IE 10 and I was just wondering if that is normal for IE 11, or if it is a glitch with the web browser itself.
IE 11 is slow and tells me this page can not be displayed after clicking on a link. after I click on the link again it usually opens up. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 clicks to open the page.
I have used Malware bytes, but have no malware. I think it started after May 5th. Did we get an update on May 6th that could have caused that?
I just got my hard drive back. I bought the computer in Sept. and the HD went. So it had to go to California. When I got the computer back the time was California time. I clicked on the time in the right hand corner and changed it to Eastern Standard time. It is still accurate in the right hand corner but people are saying my emails times are all wrong. They are receiving them before I've written them. And... to increase the mystery everyone's emails are coming to me with the wrong times. What could be wrong? Is it possible California time is still active somewhere else on the computer?
I'm using Outlook Mail. I went to my mail on roadrunner and the times are accurate so the problem is somewhere on my computer.
After upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, Internet pages and emails load slowly. After reporting this to a 2nd level MS Support person, he still hasn't fixed it though he has spent a lot of time on it so far. I finally Googled about the issue and found that many others were having the same problem. I have heard that disabling IPv6 has corrected the problem. I tried it but I couldn't do the last step to create a new DWord. After upgrading, I installed the latest drivers for the motherboard.t's about like the days of dial-up modems! Why can't Microsoft resolve this issue soon? I have checked my Internet connection for "speed" and it's not the problem. The only thing I changed was the OS.
everytime I open IE from my metro screen I get the desktop version. I have lots of links on my metro start screen for when I am in metro (I have a touchscreen laptop). Today, everytime I open a website I am put straight through to the desktop version of the site. No more swipy swipy. What have I done?
I recently switched from OE to WLM because I purchased a new laptop (Win 8.1). I incorrectly assumed, since OE is about 8 years old, WLM would be far more advanced in every aspect.
A huge annoyance is: whenever I need to find a folder in Storage Folders, instead of keying the first letter of the folder I seek, as with OE, I must scroll down to find it. To make matters worse; all of the Storage Folders are expanded to reveal the sub folders by default. So, as I scroll down, each time, I must manually collapse each expanded folder.
Any way to cause WLM Storage Folders to behave like OE.
Okay so this has happened several times now and I can't find an solution, I just got finished installking several extensions and changed some settings to Google Chrome, but when I close it, it like resets the browser to default every time and none of them are saved? This is the only web browser this is happening on and its strange?
I bought a Dell 17r laptop a couple days ago and about an hour ago my IE 10 Metro switched to desktop when I clicked it, and now it wont switch back to metro! ive reset the IE TWICE now and nothing worked, I've tried multiple solutions and NOTHING has work(obviously) the desktop version is ugly.
another one of those annoying little things, how to stop the annoying Checking Compatibility Ad ons pop up every time I open Firefox. I dont want it, dont need it - so where do I 'switch' it off? I have check through settings cant see it anywhere.
Ive set the IE as default from Internt otions of IE( dektop version). Now the app from start screen wont do anything. Th e desktop version works but It can be launch frpm the startscreen either. I have unpined and pined to startcsreen but no avail. That browser choice that keeps staying on the startscreen wont do a thing : cant instal IE from there
I have this problem here since ~2months ago, i try to open IE10 on Metro interface, and nothing happens! i already tried to put all defalut settings for IE, and still won't open. the IE10 on classic interface opens and works with no problems.
As I'm used to having the address bar @ the top of the page, (like it is in the desktop version)..it looks like MS would have offered an option to do so in the 'metro' version. I hope that some user can come up with a 'hack' to get that done.
