I wonder if there's a way to make my own voice audible in the speakers/headphones when using a microphone?
I also have RealTek HD Audiomanager installed, since I have an ASUS board.
Could this be done in Windows?
I have a windows eight computer, and when I plug in my microphone (on my headset) my speakers are muted. I assume there is a simple sound option somewhere that does this, but I have been unable to find anything by looking around or searching google. The headset does not mute speakers on other computers when the microphones are plugged in, nor does it differ with other headsets.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to BIOS and enabled sound, but, when i turned on computer there was sound, but it was show as headphones, and speakers aren't plugged in. Actually is opposite, headphones aren't plugged in, but just like they are, and speakers are plugged in, but they don't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use headphones with my Surface Pro (Win 8) I cant hear the voices in my videos - the background music/sound effects are just too loud. I have tried using the Win 8 Video player as well as VLC Player and I still get the same issue.
I have tried the headphones on my iPhone and have no problems.It has been a long time since i've used a Windows computer (usually have a Mac)
Whenever I unplug the speakers jack and plug in the headphones, the sound stops! I have to restart the application or run another one and then the sound is back. This is really silly and takes time especially when you need to restart some game.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 8.I am facing an issue with my sound all on a sudden. The volume icon on the task bar has a red cross on it. When I hover on that it says 'No speakers or headphones plugged in' (attachment-1).
When I click on the icon I get a screen like attachment-2 which says 'The peripheral does not appear to be plugged in'.
I checked in the Device Manager to see only 'Bluetooth Headset' listed under 'Sound,video and game controllers'. Also I tried to re-install audio drivers (Real Tech High Definition Audio Driver) which is provided with the laptop to no avail. I don't know whether this is just a driver/windows problem or a hardware problem.
I bought the plantronics .Audio 335 studio headphones, but when I plugged them in, it screwed up my sound. My compute'rs sound is now playing through both the headphones AND the laptop speakers. After unplugging it and trying again a couple times, I gave up and decided to just use my old headphones.
Except for the sound still played through both the headphones and laptop speakers.
Distraught, I restarted my computer. When that didn't work, I restored my system to a point I made yesterday. Still no luck. I've been scrounging google for a few hours now, and nothing is working. I REFUSE to refresh my system and reinstall all of my programs again.
I recently upgraded to windows 8 pro 32 bit. For a month there were no problems.
But one sunday afternoon i was watching some movie on my laptop and suddenly the speakers stopped working.
I restarted it, but to no avail. However my headphones still work, and so do external speakers work.
I tried reinstalling audio drivers frm the mfg's website-Didn't work.
I tried System restore to a point where i knew my speakers were working-Didn't work.
I even tried refreshing windows 8-Didn't work.
After almost a week now my speakers still do not work and only my headphones work.
I recently updated Nvidia Graphics Drivers in order to play COD BO2
when i connect my headphones they work OK, but i can also hear trow my laptops speakers and they are not disabling themselves like they use to.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new desktop and that is the only problem that I have. I like to go on Skype and then play music/game sounds through the speakers, but on my audio devices list, it only shows up Speakers/Headphones. I know that the Realtek HD Audio Manager would let me split them up, but when I download that, all I get is some worthless Dell Audio thing (picture at the bottom) that barely has any options. So, is there anything I can do about this? I don't know how specific to be, so if you need more information, just say so.

So today I got a new acer laptop with windows 8. The laptop only has one audio/microphone input in it. When I first plugged the headset microphone jack into the singular input, it asked what device it was. I selected headset and moved on. Later, I could not find my headset mic in my audio devices/microphones. I could only see the computer default internal microphone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen my Turtlebeach x12 is plugged into my computer (runs Windows 8) and I try to launch some steam games the audio plays through the built-in speakers rather than my headset. I've played around with default devices and disabling/enabling different devices, but nothing has worked. In some games like Planetside 2, the in-game option to set the output device to the headphones works perfectly, but in most other games (e.g. Left for Dead), audio still plays out of my speakers. When I disable the speakers there is no game sound at all. This also wasn't an issue on my old laptop that runs Windows 7. Is there any way to here the game audio from my headset?

I just bought a new pc and received it today, and i plugged my headset in to check if i hear audio from both speakers and headset but its not working. When i plug my headset in i only hear audio from my headset and not the speakers. Ive been googling and found something about it but with the newest realtek hd audio i dont have the Playback Device there, only the Recording Device. In this picture it has both the playback and recording device.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've read that you have to go to the microphone, double click on it, go to the levels tab, and move the lever all the way up, as long as the boost lever. I don't have the boost. Only the microphone is present as you can see in the screenshot. That doesn't work.
I just downloaded Windows 8 last Thursday so all of my updates are installed. I updated to the latest drivers for my sound card thing, which I guess is intergrated. Now, before you tell me it's my mic, before Windows 8 I was using xubuntu until I could afford Windows 8. My microphone was fine. It picked up great. I could hide it behind my monitor (which is atleast 3 or 4 feet away) and it would still pick up fine. Now in order for it to pickup my voice like it did behind the monitor I have to have it literally 1 cm away.

I have two laptops running windows 8, Asus AO756-2626 and HP dm4-3099se. Internal mic works on both. I have two computer mics and one professional type that needs an adapter for the jack. When I insert either mics, nothing happens on either laptops. The external mic in the sound settings is grayed out and says currently unavailable.

When I go to the Sound -> Microphone Properties, the "Listen to this device" checkbox is already un-checked in the "listen" tab.
I just got myself a brand new PC with Windows 8. My problem is getting my mic to work the same way it did with my laptop with windows 7 64 bit (Worked perfectly, microphone level at 47 and boost at 10db). I've tried everything, and even with microphone level at 100 and boost to 30db its just alot of background noise and still low volume. Disabled everything on the enhancement tab, and i've tried everything on the other forums. And yes, i've updated my Realtek drivers to the lastest version. So i'm down to maybe something with the motherboard, or bios?

I have a Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset , the audio work's but I cannot get the mic to work.
I have a Creative soundblaster 5.1 live soundcard and a abit fatal1ty fp-in9 sli m/b.
Audio works on both soundcard and on-board sound on the m/b , but not the mic .... I know some basics to computer's but I'm stuck here.
My friend connected an external monitor to his Sony laptop using an HDMI cable. The problem is that there is no audio from the external monitor speakers. The sound still comes out of the laptop speakers. When I look in Playback Devices, I see what appears to be the speakers as a device (can't remember exactly what is was called, but it was a somewhat vague name like "audio device"), and I've tried various settings, yet I can't get sound from the speakers.
So my question is, does an HDMI connection on a monitor support audio, or does he need to get a audio cable and use the green audio jack that is on the monitor, which I thought was just needed with the VGA connector.
When I was setting up my microphone I set it up so that the mic comes on when the computer starts. I want to reset it so that it doesn't do that and put it in the Quick Launch toolbar / system tray instead where it would be more convenient a la windows XP style.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI only just bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 on it. (SO not impressed with this OS.) Anyway, I'm trying to set up all my externals. I have an external microphone I use through a Tascam US-200 audio interface. It has the ability to record in stereo and I have done so for some time using Audacity on my old computer running Windows 7 with no problems.
I checked that the Tascam system has been tested with Windows 8. No problems there. I installed the drivers and audacity and set everything up. However, I'm still only getting mono sound instead of stereo when I attempt to record. I've double checked that the Default Format for the input device is set to 2 channel, 16 bit, 441000 Hz and that Audacity is set to take in a stereo input. No joy. I can record sound but only in mono.
P.S. After repeated attempts I CAN get the system to recognise the stereo input... for less than a second when first turned on. Something is getting through but for some reason it just doesn't keep.
The microphone on this non-brand headset isn't working due to the microphone not showing up under the recording devices. Audio is working for the headset (and anything else that I plug in ), but not the microphone. The green bars do not go up in the audio manager either when I test the microphone. I'd like to use this for teamspeak, but there doesn't seem to be anything that I have found on google to solve this so far, or anything that I've figured out on my end. I have attached a screenshot of what is happening in my audio manager. When any headphones/earphones are plugged into the green jack, they work and sound is audible, however in the audio manager it still says that no headset is plugged in even with them plugged in & working.

- I also have an actual sound card in the motherboard ( a soundblaster live sb0060 )..it currently doesn't work at all, and shows up in the device manager as 'multimedia audio controller' with a yellow exclamation mark. If I could get this working instead, that'd be much better too as an alternative fix.
I am using a USB headset with a microphone (Logitech G35). my microphone levels are too high. My microphone picks up almost everything, especially keyboard- and mouseclicks which people have complained about. Whenever I try to adjust the microphone levels to something lower, for example 18dB instead of 24dB, it will reset back to 24dB almost as soon as I start to speak. I have tried to change the levels both in Windows Sound Settings and in the driver for the headset. I have tried multiple dB values, not only the one in my example.
I am using Windows 8.1.
I need to use StereoMix and my headphones built in mic at the same time. The problem is IF StereoMix is enabled, only the PC's internal Mic is activated. I cannot activate my headphones mic unless i disable the StereoMix device first.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a pair of headphones, with a microphone, and a headset that I use for my PS4, both with 3.5mm jacks, that I want to use as a microphone for my laptop, as opposed to the garbage built in webcam one.
However, having tried both of them in the microphone jack on my laptop, I can't record any sound. Yes I am plugging them into the correct jack, and yes they are recognized by the computer and sound menu of the control panel as microphones.
However, they will not record ANY sound, even with the recording level turned up all the way. I have even acquired a 3.5mm to USB converter, and tried plugging them in, but I get the same results.
I have a new windows 8.1 laptop and my built in microphone does not work. When I plugin an external headphones that includes microphone, it works. I have checked the Device Manager and the microphone is enabled. I checked and the driver is updated.

I have the asus s400ca it has the microphone and headphone in the same jack. My headphones are fine in any other laptop but when I plug them into my new asus I hear very loud static even when playing music. It came with via hd audio and I can specify any other information if necessary.

Left the computer on overnight now the sound will not play through the computer speakers unless something is plugged into the headphone or microphone jack. But will play through external speakers... but not the headphones. Its IDT codec and for sound options i have Speakers and Headphones (IDT high definition audio codec) and Communication Headphones (IDT high definition audio codec). Im wondering if there is a driver missing yet using driver pack Solutions and Driver reviver nothing shows up missing. For my Playing options i only get options that are for plugging into the left side of the pc (mic and 2 headphone jacks) but when i plug in and leave the setting on speakers and heaphones it plays out the pc speakers and not the headphones unless i change to the other audio setting for headphone communications set. It has no options for just speakers or playing out of speakers without the headphones needing to be plugged in....
