Browsers/Mail :: How To Change Sync Information For Email And Calendar
Sep 10, 2013I am extremely new to Windows 8. I was handed over a work computer today that runs Windows 8, the previous employee set everything up using her personal email information (IE: the email from the main email envelope is her email, and the calendar feature would add details to her personal calendar not the one for work). She is not set up as a user on the computer at all, but her personal details are linked into the system.
I have searched the documents everywhere and have gone through settings for the two applications trying to work out how to remove her personal information from the system and replace it with the work information. She doesn't need to see the new schedules or the times that our employees will be out on different jobs.
Is there a way for me to go in and remove her personal information and replace it with the information for the company? I could sit and question her ethic as an employee for hours as to why she would do it this way, but honestly if her ethic was great, I wouldn't be taking this over at this point. I just need to ensure that the computer is set up for the business not for someone's personal email and calendar and ensure she isn't getting notifications of our future work schedules.

A friend installed a Google calendar on her Desktop which is not linked to her Gmail account except for login purposes, that is the Calendar is not available if you go to the Gmail account on the web.
Is there some way to sync the Google Calendar with the WLM (Desktop) Calendar?

Aug 27, 2014For more than a week now, the above situation have been occurring. I have "scoured" the web and tried a lot of "solutions" and none as at yet have normalized my situation.
I am suspecting that I might need a registry solution, since I cannot refresh my installation- I upgraded to win 8 from win 7 online.
Also, the Skype app crashes almost as soon as it finishes loading and returns to the start menu. But, there is a sign it is still running and whenever you click on it, it trips off again.
I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, ran the apps troubleshooters many times, checked that the time service is running, synchronized this and that, etc to no avail.
My Mail Live tile do not have the option to turn on/off live update but the Calendar and People tiles have it yet none is updating.

Nov 8, 2013I'm using the Microsoft Calendar application in Windows 8. I don't recall if it was already on my laptop when I bought it or if I installed it from the store very early on. (I got the laptop new for Christmas in 2012. It's an ASUS K55N if that matters.)
I'm troubled by the fact that some of my appointments have disappeared. For instance, I created two appointments for today when I was using the laptop yesterday and was very disappointed to see that they weren't there when I turned on the laptop this morning. Since I was online when I added the appointments and was offline when I checked this morning, I thought MAYBE the appointments made when you're online only become visible when you're online but I'm online now and I still don't see those appointments.
Is there some trick I need to know to make it remember my appointments? I don't mean to imply that it never remembers appointments: I've got several appointments in the calendar that were remembered perfectly well and are still there, weeks after they happened. It's just that SOME appointments seem to disappear for no reason that is obvious to me.
In the absence of a trick or setting that guarantees the appointments are remembered, any good free Calendar-type app that reliable remembers ALL appointments?

Jan 25, 2014I say Windows RT but it's the Metro app and any version of Windows 8.1 can run the Metro app.
Many times, I tap on "comment" but it won't do anything or open the comment window. I have to "refresh" by clicking one of my groups (thereby changing the screen) and then go back to where I was before and then it will let me click on "comment" and work.
Many times when I am using the on screen keyboard, once I am done typing and the keyboard closes, the space at the bottom of the screen stays black and Facebook remains "up in the air". I have to grab and drag down the window to get the Facebook app down where it belongs.
Many times where it tells you in the upper right corner how many new notifications you have, typically it is red with the number of notifications. Sometimes it is just greyed out and sometimes it just has the number of new notifications with the number in white but with the globe still faded out.

Apr 13, 2013I use the built-in Messenger app to chat on Facebook. For some reason, I create double posts in the app when the other person's status is "available" for chat. However, if I message someone who isn't online on Facebook, I don't double post.
These double posts aren't seen on Facebook's site, by the way. It's only me that sees it and is really annoying.
I've tried uninstalling, re-installing, signing out of my facebook on both People app and Messenger app then signing back in. I don't know what is causing it.

May 31, 2014I just picked up an Asus B121 tablet and Windows 8.1.1 so far seems to work quite well. This is my first time with that update. I like the changes except I don't like the boot into desktop by default.
I can't install Facebook on the Metro screen. It's stuck on pending. I have waited a while and it just sits there at "Pending". I have tried to change usernames in the store, I have successfully downloaded other Metro apps. I have cancelled the request several times and tried again to install it. Same problem.
Could this be because my tablet has no rear camera and therefore I am nor meeting some app requirement? If so you think it would tell me that.

May 19, 2014Whenever OneDrive tries to automatically sync its files (or manually too), there's a pop-up on the desktop saying: OneDrive Sync Engine Host - OneDrive Sync Engine Host has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.
I have googled it a lot and tried the CMD command posted as a solution, but it didn't work unfortunately.

How To Sync Apps And Layout
Oct 20, 2013i have one laptop and htpc running windows 8.1 and can't figure out how the sync works. Yesterday, i set it all up and and today turned my htpc on to have the same apps and layout. But nothing changed, turned the both pcs on and off and it did change but the other way, htpc to laptop, so got a messy layout.
Deleted all the apps from the start screen and started again but now won't change in neither of them. Just changed the wallpaper many times and sometimes changes but other times it doesn't.

Jun 27, 2014is there a way to completely disable the OneDrive Sync Engine process from starting up with windows? I can't find it in the startup menu. Sometimes when it loads it will lock up my computer for about ~5 mins until anything becomes responsive. I was able to grab a screen shot of the process loading in the notifications. I just would like to disable OneDrive 100% if possible (running Win 8.1, update 1) as I do not use that service for anything.

Apr 8, 2014I am using mail app on windows 8.1. It was working fine in the morning. But few hours ago I noticed that it shows my drafts folder empty and the interface has also changed a bit.
I did not update anything at all. My automatic update setting is off. I have synced it a lot of times. It shows my emails from all other folders but not from drafts. And it is not like it can't do it. Until yesterday, I was being able to view the drafts seamlessly. It just happened now.

Sep 15, 2014I used to have a Windows phone and attached my Facebook account to the Windows phone on my Microsoft Live account. I have since gotten rid of my Windows phone but then afterwards I permanently deleted my Facebook account. I bought a new pc with Windows 8.1 and logged in with my Microsoft Live account and saw that it kept all of my old contacts from Facebook and there is no way to delete them since I no longer have a Facebook account to delete them.
Is there a way to delete contacts that are associated with Facebook if I no longer have a Facebook account? I have an Xbox Live account associated with my Microsoft Live account so I do not want to delete my Microsoft Live account. Is there any way to delete my contacts without having to delete my Microsoft Live account?
How To Use Customized Sound Events
Aug 10, 2013My previous experience with Win8 has been as an upgrade from Win7 now I just tried a fresh install and ran into this problem. I have a number of old WAV files that I have used for specific "sound events" in Windows since Win95. I have always copied these WAV files in the windows/media folder and was able to assign the sound file to the sound event using CP:SOUND. This no longer is true. The WAV files do not play.
Win8 refuses to use WAV files which are not from a "TRUSTEDINSTALLER". So even though the WAV files I want to use are in the same folder as the ones included with Win8, I cannot use them to customize my sound theme.
Importing to Win8 the "AppEvents" reg keys from a Win7 to Win8 installation does not work. This is strange because if you upgrade from a Win7 installation with the customized sound events to a Win8 installation, Win8 will accept the customized WAV files even though they are not tagged "TRUSTEDINSTALLER". BTW, copying the WAV files from the upgraded Win7 -> Win8 to a clean Win8 installation does not resolve the problem.
The only solution that would seem to work is to change the security tags on my customized WAV files to include "TRUSTEDINSTALLER" but I haven't found anyway of doing this.

Jul 16, 2014I have three machines running Windows 8.1 Update 1 and for some reason one of the machines does not like OneDrive. When I first boot the system the OneDrive Cloud appears in the tray. However, as soon as I hover the mouse over it to see the sync status the Cloud Icon goes away and I think I get the SkyDive 1000 error in the Event Log. I don't know what I did to screw it up on this machine

Notifications are turned on for all mail and mails are downloaded as they arrive. But I'm not getting notifications for the default account. Might I add that synchronization is not automatic and I need to open the app to get the new mail. The second account works okay, though.

Jul 28, 2014I am running iCloud on multiple PC's. Everything was fine until I had it running on two 8.1 PC's, then I started having problems.
In total, iCloud was running on one Win 7 Pro PC and two Windows 8.1 PC's. My theory is that the two Windows 8.1 PC's were syncing via iCloud and Skydrive (or Onedrive) which is set up by default. But they were able to read each other's settings okay. But Win 7 doesn't have the same sync settings, so the bookmarks were being written in 8.1 and then multiplying in Win 7.
I'm not sure, but this is my theory. Running on all Win 7 is okay. Running on all Win 8.1 seems okay. But combining the two OS's with iCloud seems to cause some problems.

Sep 15, 2014I check Reliability Monitor from time to time. I was taken aback today to find Windows Mail creating a critical event and appearing as 'Stopped working' each day for the past six days. There are five listings on day one, five on day two, two on day three, one on day four, two on day five and two on day six. 'Check for a solution' provides no solution. I do have to close and reopen Windows Mail on some occasions when it is stuck at 'Connecting'. The second attempt usually results in Windows Mail receiving mail. That, however, has been a situation that I have lived with for a long time and I am unaware that it caused a critical event in the past. Now, it seems, a critical event is created each time I open Windows Mail. Please move this to 'Performance and Maintenance' if more appropriate.

i intend to use SkyDrive for the documents, and will use the mail app, or install Outlook on the tablet to have a copy of emails on it, but I am not sure how to make sure that contacts and calendar are synchronised on both machines. I use a local to UK mail provider (btinternet).
