my friend has Dell inspiron 630m, which didnt come with OEM Win XP CD, i believe it contains hidden system partition with original XP on it how can i reinstall winxp from system drive the laptop has Win XP Product key or serial number printed on the back of laptop
I Have dell insipiron 630m and i has recently upgraded xp to win 7. Windows 7 installer didnt detect his graphic card driver, so where can i find the Windows 7 graphic driver for my laptop.i went to support.dell.com website, it has drivers for xp but nothing for Windows 7
I have a Dell XPS 8300. I reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium, using a "Reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit" disc. PC is up and running again, more or less nicely.
1) I ended up doing a "Custom install", as opposed to a "Clean install". Is it much worse to do the former instead of the latter? The reinstall was in response to getting rid of some nasty malware/viruses
2) there's a directory called c:windows.old which I'll take control of and delete when I'm content knowing I won't need it anymore, but there are leftover directories from my previous installation that are still there... outside of windows.old.
For example, I installed all misc software in directory called c:Other Programs instead of the usual c:Program Files (x86)The latter appears to be a clean slate, but the former still has folders, files, and even working executables from before! What should I do here? Should I.
1) delete these folders before reinstalling the programs 2) just reinstall the programs over them? 3) run the programs as is, without reinstalling them if the executable is still there? ackmondual has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.
I have a Dell ATG laptop 6420 and I'm running a program called V1 golf swing analysis for my teaching business.Im having intermittent issues using the voiceover recording feature. After I record the voice over sometimes it doesn't save it. I've used this program for many years with no issues on older laptops. After I purchased this new laptop and It became infected w/ virus.Reinstalled Windows and downloaded drivers from website. Since I've never had issues with Dell laptops and the recording for voice over program on my V1 I'm thinking I didn't reinstall all of the correct drivers from the Dell website. Once I have the ATG drivers pulled up in the Dell website, How do I know which drivers I should be downloading from the Dell website ?
I am running a Dell 9300 with Win 7 and I have purchased 2x1GB Crucial RAM that is sold as an upgrade package for the Dell 9300 (completely compatible.) I insert the RAM, computer recognizes it and boots to Win 7 logo at startup. There is hangs and does not boot.
Running Windows 7 Home on a Dell Inspiron. My account was setup as an administrator account and shows as such under account management. But upon boot up I get a message about not being able to run a startup program because I'm not logged in as an administrator. Also, when going to DOS prompt, I can't run chkdsk /f because I don't have the level of permission required.
My master boot record has become corrupted, but I can't even get to safe mode command prompt. When you press F8 at boot up and make the selection, the basic drivers start to load but halt at disk. I looked up these errors online, and it seems the consensus is to use the bootrec.exe /FixMBR command, or some flavor of such. But I can't even get that far! I've changed the Boot Order in BIOS so that an Installation DVD will take precedence, but I never get to the windows installation screen. It continues to try to boot from the hard drive and the cycle starts all over. I do have a copy of Acronis Backup 2009, I was able to have it boot, but I didn't have any options to open a command prompt. If this was a desktop, I'd simply open it up and install the drive in a good computer I have and work on it.
i tried installing windows 7 on dell inspiron n4110 but when it reaches the stage when i click on install now, it brings up this message 'install drivers from a cd/dvd/usb device'
