Re-enable Dvd Cd Drive?
Nov 18, 2011My dvd driver is disabled on my laptop. I operate Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. How can I get the driver to work? My cd is not being read as a drive.

Mine lists about 8 restore points, but when I select one, it tells me that "You must enable System Protection for this drive." and it will not restore.. I understand that from the Brink tutorial on this topic of System Restore, that it's supposed to be on my default. There is no way I can check to see if it is on or off, because my computer will not boot. I certainly didn't turn it off, so I am wondering what is going on. It doesn't seem to make sense to create restore points if you can't use them.

Aug 31, 2010My netbook cannot restore itself! my netbook (ASUS ASPIRE ONE) and long story short i did a factory reset instead of a system restore cause a virus wouldnt let me use the system restore option after i did the the factory reset my netbook was in a loop and couldnt go through with the initial windows set up.ive managed to get a recovery software and made it bootable on my pen drive but now the restore point is saying "you must enable system restore on this drive"i've looked around on the web to find solutions but all i find is to go on windows but obviously at this moment i cant do that is there a way to bypass this by using Command prompt? I cannot use a CD Installation disk because it is a netbook so that means there is no Disk drive i did not get a CD with the windows 7?

I've checked all of the necessary power management options to 'allow nic to wake the computer' and 'only with magic packet' etc. but after sysprep, since the NIC drivers are reinstalled after windows performs sysprep, those settings are not saved. There are three checkboxes that I need to check on the Wired NIC. Does anyone have a script, or the knowledge of how to accomplish this after sysprep? I have tried several windows xp scripts, but those don't work with this new onboard nic. It's a NIC on the optiplex 790.

Mar 21, 2011Me and my girlfriend have a laptop we share, both accounts are Admin accounts how do I start services under her account and not global (both)I want Avira Anti-Virus to start under her credentials and not mine, now initially I searched online and found how to edit the service logon Tab so it started for her - which worked initially but meant I couldnt call on (start) the service without changing it back to global - after doing just that and changing back to her account it no longer worked - to get the program to work meant dropping the main tray app into startup folder for her and doing the afore mentioned tweak on service logon tab for two services related to the app, but that no longer works for some reason the services dont start - also i would like to be able to call on and start the service myself should I wish too (when I wish to use Avira Guard) - i even tried dropping shortcut to the exe files (that are the services) into her startup folder but this does not work...
