i was installing Microsoft Home and Student 2007 on my son's new laptop (hp pavillion dv6) which is running windows 7 64 bit. I have Office 2007 with 3 licences. Jus after Xmas I build myself a new PC with absolutely top spec. I purchased legal Windows 7 Pro and installed 64 version on my new PC. Since I still had one licence remaining I also installed my Office 2007. Now I can not open Word attachments which are being sent to me with many emails. There is info box saying that there is problem sending a command to the program. I can not open any documents that I transfered from my old PC. This documents open in some gibrish machine language. I have Adobe Reader ilstalled but still no joy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the things you may discover is that not all of your older programs/games/drivers will work under 7, and their 7 compliant versions may not be availabe. In this case, you can try install and run them in Vista (or XP) compatible mode. To run a file in compatibility mode:
1. Right click on the executable file and click the "Properties" option
2. Select the "Compatibility tab"
3. From the drop-down menu, choose the operating system to run your file compatible with
4. Click OK
5. Run it "Compatibility" tab explained by Microsoft
If compatibility mode does not help, you can try force windows to use the standard device drivers:
1. In Device Manager, right-click your device (e.g. video adapter), and then click "Uninstall" to remove the device.
2. Restart your computer. After you log on, you receive a "New Hardware Found" dialog box with the device listed as the description and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts
3. Click "Next" to start the wizard
4. Click "search for suitable driver", and then click "Next"
5. Click to clear all of the search option check boxes, and then click "Next"

So thing is my display driver - Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.I have a Panasonic CF-51ECCDBBM Model. So here is what happened---
I was a frequent user of the OS - Windows XP and my driver worked fine, I could play many low quality and few high quality games. But I tend to get infected when I was on XP. So I switched to a new OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) it automatically installed a the current driver I have as of now. When I try to play games on it, they will not work. When I try to play the Windows 7 Card game it lags terribly. I have done things such as the Windows Experience Index, Updating my driver via device manager, dxdiag, and several blogs and help sites. If possible can anyone help me or reccommend drivers that are compatible with my current OS and is substantially better than the piece of crap driver I have now?
Any Open Office / Libre Office users --- I'd like to know the current "State of Play" regarding compatability with MS Office.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI now have a new problem, before I managed to open 2007 files by opening Office 2010 and then from inside the application choosing to open a file. The problem I have though is if I just try to open an Office 2007 file then I can't open it, and I can't change the default program to open it. How do you get Office 2010 to open all the Office 2007 files such as word, excel etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine. Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

Before I try the thing on XP - I want to try running Outlook in XP Compatibility Mode. When I try this Outlook starts, but cannot find my profile (or any profiles whatsoever).
Ok, windows 7 keeps Outlook data differently from Win XP. But how can I create a profile for XP compatibility mode? The craziest thing is run a control panel which creates profiels in XP Compatibility mode, or reinstall outlook (or start it with some command-line switch to pretend that it runs the very first time and force it to craete a profile while running in XP Compatibility mode?)
Anybody? Any ideas?

(1) I've read many complaints elsewhere that Outlook 2007 doesn't run on the 64 bit Windows 7 Professional. Does anyone here have any experience with that?
(2) I'm not against buying a new Office 2010 with Outlook 2010 but...again from comments online, it doesn't seem to sync the iPhone 4 properly.
