View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP dv9920us. A month ago I upgraded to win7 from vista. Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago when returning from work I found a black screen and an error message " no operating system found". No attention paid since I thought that my hdd went bad. So got a new one installed it but got the same message. So went into BIOS and saw that no hdd was detected. My laptop has 2 sata ports so I changed port and to my relive BIOS recognized my hdd in this 2nd port leading me to believe that the first port had gone bad. I did a clean win7 install. Everything went fine. Installed drivers etc no problem. During the first boot after and right after the post message the laptop just suddenly shut down and rebooted and then shut down again just after the post message. This loop went on for a couple of times and finally ended to a black screen with the message " no operating system found". Checked the BIOS again and the hdd was there. Booted the machine with the installation dvd in the drive this time and after the same loop for a couple of times (boot-post message- shut down- reboot ) instead of going to the no "operating system found" it continued and loaded win7. I've performed every possible test that I know for checking memory, hdd etc and everything looks good. The bottom line is that now the only way that I can use my laptop is to boot it with the installation disc in and it loads and works perfectly. If I try to boot it without the disc I end up with the "no operating system found".
View 7 Replies View RelatedAt the startup of my computer. I get a black screen with white text saying "Operation System Not Found" it is "OPERATION" and not "OPERATING". I first found this problem after a windows update. Its not an issue getting into my computer since all I have to do is hit the enter button on the keyboard and the laptop acts like nothing happened. Whats going on? Its a little annoying getting this message, and it some what scares me that something will happen to my computer. I feel like the startup is a bit slower, but nothing major.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo the other day I wake up to log on to my Alienware M17x m1, which was running windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1. As it's booting up, I see the message operating system missing. So I grab my USB thumb drive (my cd/DVD drive does not work, thus I have to use windows 7 on USB). Tried to reinstall windows that way, but was getting some partition error of some sort. Now when I try to boot up with USB, I can't even get to the windows 7 installation screen. I get - The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis morning my HP DV 9000 laptop screen comes up grey with no discerning images. I have an additional monitor attached (for TV) and booted into safe mode with networking and can see the desktop in VGA on separate monitor only.
Looking in Device MGR I have two 'base system devices that need attention. They are not identified as to what they are only PCI Bus 7 device 5 function 3 & PCI bus 7 device 5 function 2.
Win 7 Prem Home 32 bit SP1
Intel 5500 @ 1.66ghz
2GB ram
NVIDIA geoforce 7600
Last night - everything ran fine. Read newspaper online & watch TV on separate monitor. Everything closed down without issue.
Occasionally (becoming more frequent) I get the error message saying "A Process or thread crucial to to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated" I have no idea what the cause is.
This is in Windows 7 64 bit, does anyone know what the cause is?

If I type system restore in the search box, the closest thing I get is "restore your computer to am earlier time".checked c:UsersYourNameApplicationDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStartMenuProgramsAccessoriesSystem Tools and it's not their either. I have a feeling it was a Paragon Drive Clone program that screwed everything up. It even turned on system protection for one of my other drives. Microsoft Shadow Copy Provider was also off.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHave just registered to see if anyone has any ideas for a solution to a problem with my that is running Windows 7 (I think 64bit). It refuses to boot and just says "missing operating system".Using the repair option on a boot disc does not work (have tried 3 times)If I boot using a windows 7 cd/dvd I only get given the option to install windows.I can see both hard drives in the BIOS.I am able to get to a DOS prompt using the boot disc, but have no idea about DOS myself. When booting from the Windows 7 cd I was able to see the C: drive but it would not open, saying it needs formatting before use.I think that's about it, will post anything else relevant if I think of anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a msi-gx680 laptop , I used my Recovery DVDs (which I had created mine by MSI RECOVERY software on my laptop) to restore my C drive to manufacture settings. When I insert the first DVD, recovery process would start but it goes half of the way and finishes, showing (Successfully Recovery!) but it doesn't need the second or third DVD, and when I restart my laptop the phrase "Missing Operating System" would appear.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my father went on a rampage and deleted a bunch of random files in his C-drive of his laptop, and emptied the recycle bin. The next time he switches on the laptop all letters are gone. As if the system is missing the language feature - everything where there should be letters / symbols belonging to a language, it's messed up symbols + signs.
How may I re-install them? Already tried a backup, didn't do a difference. One thing I have noticed, however, is that he has Comodo System Utilities installed, and everytime on boot (black screen straight after HP logo) it says that's doing something. However, he didn't use the program to delete, just the delete bottom and "empty recycle bin." Then I have tried restoring deleted files via Tune Up Utilities, still no help. Finally I've spammed F2 at the HP logo screen on startup and doing system checks. - what if I get a Windows Vista Service pack and install, will this return the missing symbols for the language?
I would like to do a system restore, but when I try to do so (system protection/system restore), it tells me that "no restore points have been created on your hard drive".
2 weeks ago I successfully did a system restore, and I have not changed any settings since then. My recovery partition is still in place, the disk manager says the recovery drive has 8 GB out of 15 GB free. Could the restore point be in my recovery partition, but for some reason Windows isn't seeing it? How would I view the recovery partition to check?
with a little internet problem on a Windows 7 professional system.
Essentially, last week after an Update, I could not get back onto my driver (the hard drive is partitioned so I have a section and my other half has another). A system restore to the previous day has allowed me to access the computer again, but the internet is gone.
The OH can use the internet on the same computer (I am on his half now), so there is no fault with the modem, the cable or the internet connection per se. We have tried to restore the internet using various manual methods, but can get no further than the SetUp. At this point we get a message Error 711, and reports that the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager is not responding.
I have tried to fix this today, but cannot get onto the services to fix it - when I click on Services and go to 'run as admin', the message appears "Class not Registered". I have also had this message when trying to connect the internet by writing a manual IP address, and when looking for the IP drivers.
The OH is threatening F*kdisk which would mean I lose everything on the drive, but I do not have another solution.
odd problem really and not even sure when it started. But when ever the system starts (reboot or cold) there is no usb drivers installed or the firewire unibrain driver.I go to devices and printers and there is the esclamation sign over the icon for for computer then right click it press trouble shoot and it sorts it self out.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am getting the "Missing Operating System" message on boot. Here is the strange thing...if I change the boot order in the BIOS and have CDROM first and choose not to boot off of it Windows 7 loads fine. If I put HARDDISK first then I get the missing operating system message. I have tried running CHKDSK, BOOTREC and the plain old Windows repair util. None of them have worked.

It appears to run, goes through the steps and says it has created the image. But when I go to the external HD and click on the Image file that was created there is nothing there. It shows 0. What could I have done to do this. I even looked for that image file on my C: drive, just in case, but it is not there either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using my new desktop for the last couple of months. Didn't have any problems until all of a sudden my computer just completely shut down and restarted while I was using it. I booted from my Windows 7 CD and it looks like its going to load from my CD, and then it just stalls and comes up with the same message.. 'Missing Operating System'
